GloriousGbola: to this day the first alien movie is a stone cold classic. same for the thing. in a way martin 'absolute cinema' scorcese was right - cgi has reduced movies to focusing on spectacle rather than a solid story which is how you get rebel moon. No solid story can save bad graphics and poor action sequence. I was watching Rambo 2 the other day and i was irritated. Everything was terrible. I began to question why I enjoyed it back then. You cannot watch old movies and not appreciate how far Cgi has come. |

A more serious question is how Russia/Ussr despite all the wars, casualties, internal crisis and economic downfall became a modern day superpower in less than 50years. They went from being literally broke to challenging the USA in a cold war. Nigeria and other African countries should be studying them along with Japan. |

All those who threatened to abandon Twitter for Threads and Bluesky All those who said they wont pay for blue tick All those advertisers who left what happened to them? They all crept back in All these ones you are typing doesn't change the fact that bluesky is gaining more followers in drove especially after the election. Sport teams, journalist, newspaper and major celebrities are leaving X for it. A simple research will show you Twitter has lost massive followers and usage since Elon bought the App. Now that Bluesky has gotten rid of that ridiculous invitation model of creating account, expect it to grow more. |

Lana1: These were the kind of things we used to tell ourselves when we were younger to convince ourselves EPL was better than LaLiga. Messi always scored against English opposition whenever he met them in the UCL. You think he wont do it every week against Huddersfield and Charlton Athletic?
Ronaldo dropped a 40 goal season before he left. Drogba came close too with a couple of 30+ goal seasons. Alan Shearer was doing 35 league goals in a season before Ronaldo's time. Prime Ronaldo and Messi would have ate the EPL up just as well as they dominated LaLiga I was talking about league goals in specific. Drogba never scored 30league goals. Shearer never scored 35league goals in a 42 or 38 league season. Scoring against Epl teams playing with Barcelona is different from playing for an English team against them in a league match. For example Messi had 11goals in 16matches against French teams when playing for Barcelona. He went to the French league and dropped 6goals in 26league games. Infact his total in the French league was 22goals in 58games. Before going there everyone thought he was going to destroy the farmers league until reality happened. Of course that wasn't prime Messi but you should get the point am trying to pass across. Messi and Ronaldo will dominate the league no doubt but they won't be getting those 40plus league goal numbers. |

patrickmuf: Ronaldo had 1 great season here and 2 very good seasons before he left. He was entering his peak when he left for Madrid compared to those players who played their best football at United. You might not agree but this is the perspective I'm looking at. Most people would tell you Ronaldo played his best football at United not Madrid. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Bombblacks: 1:15pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
ChristineC: he'd have achieved the same. Madrid largely got over the line in those competitions because of him. I don't think he'd have scored any less than he did if he continued in England. time has shown that the "competitiveness" in English football really depends on the party involved. I don't think any of Ronaldo or Messi would be getting those 50 , 48 and 40 plus League goals in England. He would have also struggled to win those individual awards over Messi if he had stayed in England. Madrid was the only club that could go toe to toe with Barca in terms of hype and PR. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Bombblacks: 6:58pm On Oct 29, 2024 |
oliverano: I've already agreed with you but I don't like running in circles.
In 2010 Barca had three players, Messi(Barca player) won
In 2015, Barca had two players in the running, Messi(Barca player) won it.
In 2024, Madrid had two players running, a city player won.
I reiterate, if we have two players up for it, a player from barca will emerge.
Things are different here. We're not like the others! 2010 was about Spanish players not Barca. 2015 Messi was the best player in Barca. Any award goes to Messi by default. He had 41% of the vote in 2015 while Neymar had 7%. If Ronaldo was at Madrid going for the award too he's not sharing the vote because he's the undisputed best player there. You are still not getting the context. A club with multiple contenders of similar abilities will always share the vote unlike one where there's an undisputed best player. |
