Politics / Re: How Buhari Averted Disaster In Ogoni Land ~ By Mohnice by Bongiboy83: 2:34pm On Jun 03, 2016
While I don't agreement entirely with the writer's sentiments, I agree with some of his logic. The assassination of a sitting President by the militants is clearly an act of war which will definitely provoke a response. If you have lived near soldiers long enough you know that they have no respect for civil rights and liberties. Go up north and watch the killing of people by the Nigerian Army or better still go to YouTube and see how people have been slaughtered. Innocent, guilty doesn't matter, if you don't look right you as good as dead.

Sadly the killing of a sitting president would be reminiscent of the civil war which started in 1966 when group of young Igbo soldiers killed several members of a predominantly Hausa leadership, retaliatory actions followed and 2 million people died (mostly Southerners)!! Unfortunately, a lot of people (pro/con) who make comments on this forum have never read about what really happened during the civil war and so they suffer from diarrhea of the mouth. Spewing nonsense!! Buhari was wise to have stayed back and thus averted blood shed. Give the man his credit and stop being ignorant. Who Jonathan help??

While the government might eager to buy these equipment, the Lagos State Government should look at a partnership where these companies will share information and educate willing youths on the manufacture, development and repair of these products. People can enroll as engineers, technicians and other various skilled artists along the production line. This will invariably lead to a development of our human capital and improve our overall productivity.

Police abduction!! Police Brutality. I have experienced the exact same thing, twice actually. Only difference is at one time I was picked up in front of my house while sitting down with my girlfriend. We were accused of having sex on the street. All because she wore a short skirt. The ridiculousness of the Nigerian Police!! The second time was while I was looking for a taxi to go home, I wasn't even given a reason for my arrest around 10pm. I was detained till morning and asked to bail myself with the N3,000.00 I had on me. Fucking retarded illiterate intoxicated demons!! Both cases in Abuja, the first in Gwagwalada, the next time in Wuse 2. I cannot say how much I hated the police all those times. Why would you pick me up in front of my house to extort me. I told them to kill me first but I will never give them a dime. And when my friends came to "bail" us I refused. Told my friend to go and call my folks, we had many witnesses. The foolish police locked him up before he could get to the front door. I had a good shock. He was accused of going to report police. My dear Jesus. These people need like a real orientation. They are brutes with guns. And they have no spine when they see real criminals. Nuff said, I don't expect to go clubbing anytime soon with these sort of maniacs on the loose.

Travel / Re: REFUSAL Of Visa And Seizure Of Passport By UK Embassy by Bongiboy83: 12:32pm On Jul 13, 2015
Your travel itinerary should establish if you came to Nigeria at the time you claimed. There should be a record of your trip to Nigeria and back to the UK, either with the airlines or any other professional services you used. Your bank statement can also show your location through your spending during these period. I believe that you can gather the information, put it together and write to the UK Embassy, not only establishing your presence in Nigeria but also demanding a formal apology from the UK Visa Authorities for the poor treatment you have received and the malicious lies against your person.

Like I said, if you actually came back like you said.

Politics / Re: Saraki's Citizenship Saga: What The Constitution Says. by Bongiboy83: 6:28pm On Jun 29, 2015
I strongly believe your interpretation of the constitution is misguiding and erroneous. The spirit of the law can be seen to promote loyalty to the Nigerian state and Nationalism. Hence, any interpretation as pertaining to Citizenship must be interpreted in the same light without guile or mischief. To appreciate the legal loopholes and potholes in the instant case, it is most appropriate to review the situation in different scenarios. As it is there are still pieces of information unknown to most people. And one crucial piece of information is his place of birth.

Abubakar Bukola Saraki was born on 19 December 1962 to the family of Olusola Saraki, a one time Senate Leader (1979 – 1983) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a citizen of Nigeria by birth. Sec 28, says that a person who willingly takes up citizenship of another country other than his citizenship of birth losses his Nigerian citizenship. Hence, if you are British and you acquire a Nigerian citizenship, you can keep both, but the minute you take up an American citizenship, you loose your Nigerian citizenship. Nigerians by birth cannot loose their Citizenship except they denounce it. Our constitution recognizes dual Citizenships! Please note that Sec. 28 refers strictly only to Citizenship. It is important to note that the Constitution seeks to establish Nationalism and the Nigerian Identity, essentially, loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria is paramount.

Now to the matter at hand, Sec. 66. (1) No person shall be qualified for election to the Senate or the House of Representatives if:
(a) subject to the provisions of section 28 of this Constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or, except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, has made a declaration of allegiance to such a country;

It is important to note that this section deals with qualification to the Senate and not Citizenship. It states that its position on Citizenship are subject to the guideline in Sec 28 to create uniformity in the interpretation of the law. But nonetheless, where a Nigerian, by birth or naturalization WILLINGLY takes up Citizenship in another country, such person is NOT QUALIFIED to be elected into the Senate or House of Representative. Thus, Dr. Olubukola Saraki is not qualified to be in the Senate. It does not state that the person ceases to be a citizen, just clearly says you lack qualification. A simple remedy would be for Saraki to denouce his UK citizenship, but will he? He probably renewed that passport so the UK can be a safe haven if there is a witch-hunt. But I will leave that to the conspiracy theorists!!

Please note that if he was born in the UK, then he qualifies, because then, he can't be adjudged as taking up the nationality of another country willing.

Thank You!

TV/Movies / Re: Ay's 30 DAYS IN ATLANTA Is Overhyped (opinion) by Bongiboy83: 7:19pm On Jun 26, 2015
Firstly, that thing doesn't qualify as a movie. It's a home video shot with professional cameras. Story was whack, plot was lame, costumes and wardrobes were non-existent, and the characters were all clowns!! Totally mediocre!! Nigerians can like to settle for less simply because 'its our own'. That's why we vote for thieves because they are our 'brothers'. Lame as movie. If you have seen October 1st, then you will appreciate creativity and attention to detail and culture. A decent attempt to recreate an era with a psychotic twist that they didn't really pull off. But a very noble attempt for a movie.

Ay & Ramsey are definitely not A-List actors by any theatrical standard and they are just CHARLATANS on a screen!!

My happiness is that no one was killed, even though someone was hurt. We don't have a reminder of the Lekki incident that resulted in the death of 7 people. In any case, I mean as typical with the Naija Popo! They show up after the show is over to confront the local population. COWARDS!!!

How do they operate 2 hours and we don't have any response? smh!! They will now have power to issue empty statements, threaten commercial bus operators, collect bribes to pervert justice, demand cash for bail from complainants and accused persons and they have zero balls to face violent criminals. smf for this country.

Romance / Re: Should She Tell Her Fiance About Her Sex Video by Bongiboy83: 10:44am On Jun 24, 2015
I believe while you need to let your past be your past, you need to let your fiancee have an idea of the kind of person you have been, or the experiences you have had. I don't understand why women are so insecure in baring all. Now it's come to witch-hunt you. Well, you need to own up and tell him, but then again, I question the kind of conversations you had with your ex that led to him calling you out for sex and eventually blackmail. My suspicion is that you must have been had some very recent compromising discussions that resulted in his demand for sex. And this is why it is a good thing to stop communication with the ex's.

In your case, just let him know the truth, the whole truth!! Plus the ones you haven't posted on Nairaland. The truth will always set you free.

Or so that he can acquaint himself of the issues on ground because he was never interested in knowing in the first place? I pity the people who have limited options that consistently throw their weight behind these inept and selfish leaders. This is just arrant nonsense!.

Religion / Re: Jide Macaulay, Nigerian Gay Pastor Writes Letter To Homophobes With Bible Quotes by Bongiboy83: 4:19pm On Apr 10, 2015
Please the Old Testament is DIFFERENT from the New Testament. The Law in the new testament still forbids homosexuality. You might love Jesus but you have not repented. Therefore while the numerous rules in the Old Testament do not apply to Christians, we are governed by the New Testament Law. These laws are simple. 1) Love the Lord your God with all your soul, heart, and might and 2) Love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus took great pains to explain the concept of who is your neighbour and you realise your neighbour is simply anybody you meet. Show love to all as much as it depends on you. So while we still love our homosexual friends we do not believe nor do we agree with the postulation that homosexuality is an 'ok' way to live being a Christian. Sadly a lot of people are homophobic even Christians and they judge and condemn homosexuals never even showing them the love Christ commanded.

And the issue of Tithes existed before the Law was created in the Old Testament (Abraham was the first to pay tithe to Melchizedek when he defeated the five Ammonite Kings), therefore it is still valid.

Family / Re: I Confronted My Dad For Slapping My Mum, And Got Slapped In Return by Bongiboy83: 1:46pm On Mar 20, 2015
It's a good thing you stood up for your mother irrespective of what she did. I'm also a man and married too and it behooves me that a woman should be cared for more so one you call wife. The idea of beating a woman is simply ridiculous irrespective of what she did except in self defense and in such cases of self defense it should only be commensurate to the level of violence she dishes out, preferably walk away so you don't have to hit her. About making a mark at home before you leave, that is not necessary, I would advise you to apologize to your father for meddling in his marriage, when you move out, you can ask your mother to move in with you if the violence continues. I believe he slapped you because your are under his roof.

Politics / Re: Buhari And Obasanjo's Tenure More Corrupt Than GEJ Tenure - TI by Bongiboy83: 10:27am On Feb 13, 2015
This is the problem with Nigeria where supposedly intelligent and enlightened people distort and misrepresent facts to favor a particular idea or will. On the real though, Transparency International (TI) has surveyed polls which show that Nigeria is now perceived to be more corrupt than ever. With the Police as the most corrupt body, this is followed by political parties, the legislature, the education ministry, the judiciary and public office holders in that order.

What then is corruption? Moral decadence!! False Living!! Theft!! Bribery!! Undue Influence!! Posting a table alleged to be published by TI, which in fact was not published by TI is corrupt and this has characterized the presidential campaign of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. This kind of manipulation is why there is a clamor for change with young people choosing a ex-military ruler who deployed brutish and savaged tactics to maintain law and order than remain with a weak-willed and corruption smeared president. A President who grants pardons to thieves is no friend of the people.

Believe that!!
