While I don't agreement entirely with the writer's sentiments, I agree with some of his logic. The assassination of a sitting President by the militants is clearly an act of war which will definitely provoke a response. If you have lived near soldiers long enough you know that they have no respect for civil rights and liberties. Go up north and watch the killing of people by the Nigerian Army or better still go to YouTube and see how people have been slaughtered. Innocent, guilty doesn't matter, if you don't look right you as good as dead. Sadly the killing of a sitting president would be reminiscent of the civil war which started in 1966 when group of young Igbo soldiers killed several members of a predominantly Hausa leadership, retaliatory actions followed and 2 million people died (mostly Southerners)!! Unfortunately, a lot of people (pro/con) who make comments on this forum have never read about what really happened during the civil war and so they suffer from diarrhea of the mouth. Spewing nonsense!! Buhari was wise to have stayed back and thus averted blood shed. Give the man his credit and stop being ignorant. Who Jonathan help?? |

Buhari is our president, he represents Nigerian, He controls the Federal might on our behalf. Anything that happens to him happens to us all . Any attack on him is attack on us all. aviazuva:Just shut up! Why bring southeast into your discussion I do not wish Buhari death, but let no human being dare not threaten the Igbos for any reason, Igbos have taken enough of you guys bullshit and any further war threat on Igbos won't be taken softly. Yes nobody prays for war, but when you have no other option than to fight to live, you will fight with your last blood okay I do not pray for war, but if another war breaks out in Nigeria, Igbos will shock not just Nigerians, but the whole world. |

Op u realy tried , don't mind people that are fighting with mouth on niraland, most of them are outside ogoniland maybe Lagos Abuja or outside Nigeria, they have not criticised or analysed d situation u raised on a neutral n Nigerian perspective. But they love war 1. Buhari not killed by sickness or accident or plane crash 2. Some set of people less than 200 or 300 issued treat to kill a president n its carried out, then are we expecting Army to give hand shake to NA for a well done job? Certainly something will happen in d south n d north but no1 on niraland can tell who n who will be victims n casualties figures n what it will lead to. Remember last Biafra agitators, d families of d dead ones are still nursing d loss n agitation finally stopped, Always think of d end from d beginning of an action. Anyway we thank God For FG action, its even possible buhari visited n nothing happened! |

Mack3N: What the op said may not be exactly so. The fact is, they will be genocide in Nigeria, a very serious one. The so call westerners all have vested interest, not just 1 country. Italy owns agip, Mobil, she'll, chevron are Americans, France owns total. So, who among them will support the ss and se with arms and collect oil? Because they will also have problems among themselves. Besides, there is this part of where the Op spoke of slavery, do you know that it will happen? Look at Libya, the West help them topple their govt, how have they benefited from it? And the next 10 years, they may never rebuild, so many group coming up and down. And dnt forget that even among the Ijaws, they hate themselves. So, will Akwa alloe the igbo to control their oil or Wil they allow an Ijaw man to do that? My brother, we are wiser or should be wiser than that. It not a win win situation. Let's try to salvage what we have left of this country, and try to rebuild again. You never know how this war will end. Besides, the governors, ministers, commissioners and perm Sect all have their children and relatives outside the country. Let's be wise. |

Inasmuch as I Buhari failed on this one, AND I did not support the threat made on Buhari, but @OP your analysis is poor. Buhari is the President of Nigeria not Arewa Republic, and even if he got shot, the VP being a Christian (even if he's not) 1. He would NEVER dare give such order. There are dire consequences of such, it's not only SE/SS, other parts of Nigeria would be in flames as well. When militants tell you that they have missiles, do you think the capability is only limited to the SE/SS? Other regions would suffer collateral damage as well, it certainly would not be a good look. 2. The militants in question and just about every other group is seriously tired about the union, more ground for secession which is something the northern oligarchs don't want. Don't be deceived to think shelling a region would not result to retaliation. The northerners have more to loose when the union disintegrates. 3. Finally, I've not experienced war and hopefully I don't experience it; however, if Syria and the rest are case studies, Nigeria would NEVER remain the same if there's a civil war. So in order to avert it, we must negotiate our union. I'm not supporting war of any sort, all I want is for us to peacefully break the union so that everyone will live in peace, or yet, negotiate the term of our union. |
