FamilyRe: thank you by bookface: 11:28pm On Feb 28, 2012
Once you are married into a Nigerian family as a woman, be prepared to become the family's slave. You must keep in mind that in the Nigerian culture, women are viewed as properties and considered inferior though most Nigerians will deny this fact. Even white people in advanced societies treat their dogs and cats with more love, affection and care than the average Nigerian-bred husband treats his wife. This should be a lesson to you ladies who think that getting married and looking pretty in your white wedding gown for 24 hours in front of family and friends will solve all life's problems. Now as you can see, marraige especially to a Nigerian-bred male is a bed of thorns with very few roses if any. You are expected never to rest till you take your last breath. You are expected to keep cooking, cleaning and serving not just your husband and kids but all his family members as well while taking in insults at the same time. The day you drop dead, you will be replaced with another woman in a heart beat. Such is life being married to most Nigerian-bred males. I can only wish you goodluck in your marital endeavours.
I'd advise that you kindly stick to speaking strictly according your own experience and don't put us all in the same basket!

Folks from my dad's family dare not wonder about anyhow in my house talkless of speaking or acting in a rude manner to my mum.  Who dash monkey Lipstick? My dad makes it very clear ALL the time that when it comes to choosing between his wives and his folks or friends, he will always go with his wife first, the rest of the world can wait. fuck off.

The moral of the story:  When choosing your husband, you must watch whether or not he commands a great deal of respect from his immediate family members.

Now to the bigots on NL that are always happy to come online and brand all Muslims as terrorists because of the senseless action of a few; how about this reply: ALL Christians are CANNIBALS, because your Christian brothers in Plateau can be seen happily eating dead Muslims.

Should we therefore ask that, is it a coincidence there is no record or history of any Muslim being a cannibal; while that cannot be said for Christians, whether from the north (as in the case of these Beroms) or southern Nigerian? Could this deplorable and lowest act of inhumanity also be related to Christianity?
You are simply being purposefully foolish.  Those who killed in the north and perpetuated the acts of terrorist claimed their motive was Jihad and that they were fighting to regain the country for something called allah, that's how we knew they were muslims.

All we can tell about those guys in the gruesome pictures above is that they are Berom guys, there's no shred of proof that they are Christians killing muslims, as a matter of fact, it may also be argued that they are muslims killing Christians, giving that is more logical to believe.
PoliticsRe: Confession Of A Boko Haram - Who Trained With Asari Dokubo In Libya by bookface: 1:00am On Feb 03, 2012
mikeansy:
We are talking about a man who as a Military dictator promoted a Plural society in Nigeria. A man who eventhough eventually censored the media a bit, his first natural instinct when he took over from Buhari was to restore the freedom of press. A man who at least understood the essence of returning Nigeria to multi-party democracy and initiated a transition to democracy even though he lacked the courage to see it through. A man who when the going got tough and he felt he lost the loyalty of the Nation and his military commanders stepped aside. A man who eventhough he was not bound to stood aside for Atiku to run for President on the advise of Adamu Ciroma panel just to honour a gentleman agreement.
A man who contrary to the practice his own religion permits got married to a Non-Muslim, kept a nuclear family unit, stuck to one wife, allowed his children to gain as much exposure as they wish including going to the finest Universities in the World. IBB's son even invited Joe from America to come sing to his wife to be!!!!!!

There are a lot wrong with IBB, but there is nothing in the man's character that suggests he would fund islamic fundamentalism in Nigeria where a band of terrorists will seek to impose the extreme versions of their religion on the Nation and others.

Some things just dont make sense!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you one one point, there are lots of wrongs with IBB, however, suggesting that his character is somehow "squeaky clean" enough to exclude him from being a potential terrorism financier is in my own opinion a bit shortsighted. Here's why:

Resources:

Only very few people in the country have the ability to pull together the vast amount of resources with which Boko Haram is known to operate with.  IBB has the ability to fund the travel and training of a million Nigerians discreetly if he wishes to.  The level at which Boko Haram operates is likely to require discrete massive financial transaction, a level headed exposure to intelligence or military assets, strong political goodwill including support of local leaders. I can only think of two people that are capable of drawing these resources without attracting so much attention to themselves, OBJ and IBB, and of the two, I'm likely to go with the latter rather than the former. Also, i doubt if anyone in the country currently commands as much loyalty among the military rank than IBB does, not even the President.

Motive:  Political, pure, plain and simple.   why would a 70 year old man be so desperate to lead the country again after several years of being a military leader?

The more the number of people happy to suck up to you at a moment's whim, the more powerful you become! . . .what better way to control anyone than provide support for their religious ambitions?  IBB earned his Maradona name for his dodgy ways of manipulating people to achieve his end goals, again, based on motive, we cannot completely rule him out of the "idea" of Boko Haram.

Style/Antecedents:

Well, call me superstitious, but seriously, what makes anyone think the man who was the first to use home made bombs in the country's history could be completely ruled out in the spate of regular incessant attacks using the same?  If he (IBB) used a letter bomb, the first time such was used in Nigeria, to achieve his selfish goals then, what's to stop him from encouraging others to follow suit, still in an attempt to achieve his devious selfish goals?

The fact that IBB stood aside for Atiku does not necessarily make him a "nice guy".  for all we care, he may just be an embittered fellow who is bent on making "everyone" feel the wrath of his ballz!

Nigerians are all living in El Dorado and the streets are flowing with milk and honey.

You know the real problem is their "fakeness". Admitting that they see, know, or are even remotely related or acquainted to anyone that is poor---- to them----- will also make them look poor. So, what do they do? Come on an anonymous forum trying to impress everyone on how theyve never seen poverty.

Myself, Banku, LFJ, and Kobojunkie that are giving them real life experiences with impoverished people are "poor" because we know poor people. Reality has hit the other 3 in the face (Shock, Violent, Bookface) and theyve suddenly realized their TRUE financial status, only Arosa seems intent on keeping up with the charade.

Then again, maybe he's not pretending because, notice, all he keeps screaming is "My mothers Employees"; a clear indication that he still lives at home and is being fed by mommy while he plays video games all day. . . while occasionally taking breaks to go jerk off to po.rn. People like Shock, Arosa, and Violent do not even understand the question theyre attempting to answer. Hows that possible? In any presentation of evidence you have to be precise, clear and concise. . . thats what a lot of you fail to properly do. When presenting what you claim to be fact YOU HAVE TO BE ARTICULATE!!! How can a question be: "Do Nigerians live on $1/Day?" but you go into a long epistle about how you survived as a corper on N11,500?! And you really expect me to take the argument of  a man who's telling me that "It is possible to survive on $60/month" as being on the same side of me thats saying "Not only do Most Nigerians try to make do on $1/day, but a vast amount also go without meals for days on end" ? Was the question about surviving on $60 or surviving on $1?
here's a further proof of how dense you truly are, the post above was foolishly scripted by your empty brain.  60 dollars a month translates to 2 dollars a day, what the fck is the difference?  where were you when all your mates attended maths classes?   Financiers of your education must weep to know what a waste you are.  Your head is so full of shiot, if you couldn't make simplest additions up  with your thing veiled brain, can you not at least add up with a calculator?  Do you also need a kobojunkie to explain to you that when someone explains how they survived on 60 dollars a month, they ultimately mean 2 dollars a day.

Lmao what a doofus!Go back and re-read. I said Kobojunkie "attempted" to explain, I didnt say I understand or understood but Kobojunkie tried to point the direction. See the quotation? Yeah, it works just like "bolded".Even Kobojunkie sef no sure wetin your guy was trying to say, she sef na rough attempt at explanation she make. Go back and check her post, ode!
foooool, this is kobojunkie's post in highlights below, with relevant part boldened.  I'm not surprised you still don't get it, no one expected you to, that's why we all believe it has something to do with your IQ.  My condolences to whoever gave up his seed to raise a dummy like you, you are nothing but a generational waste.

@Violent is simply trying to show that it is possible to live on less than a dollar a day in Nigeria. I mean he stresses there that his monthly pay was at about Naira 11,000, something that is new to many Nigerians today given that only a couple of months ago
Was I specifically telling ONLY Banku a story about poverty I witnessed on the faces of Nigerians standing at a bus-stop or not! So, saying I was driving is now an attempt at boasting? I visited Nigeria not too long ago, first time in eons. I wont even state what car I was driving so as not to come off as boastful. But, as I approached the Mainland, I passed by a bus stop and I was looking at people's faces, and they were just staring into space; I almost burst into tears. My companion said "Look at them, look at how theyre staring at your car", I didnt say a word because I knew that the car was the last thing on their minds. They couldnt even dream that far. Dream of buying kini? From earning how much a month?!There were Hundreds of people and I could not see a single happy face that I could describe as happy. All the faces were gaunt, hungry looking and full of frustration. I felt like asking some people where their destination was so I could drive them home, that was how bad I felt.
Who gives a rat if you drove or walked, you are so full of poo, your eyes are fcking brown! fck, i never heard someone spit so much crap in my life, you must really think the world rolls under your armpit and the rest of us eat from trash, you are a dumb Bottom King, a DUMB Bottom.  When you see people talk, you should really shut the bleep up.

To ÄŁĻ the 'Gboko beasts' who take whatever cr.ap Westerrners fling at them just because they have 'the internet', this topic has been brought up on this site before ǡŋ₫ this was the author's opinion: "Foreign countries ǡŋ₫ organizations like to malign Africans with facts that downgrade us both intellectually ǡŋ₫ emotionally. $2/day= 300 naira per day which is~10,000 monthly. Now let's consider cost ☺₣ living in Nigeria: Average meal-N150(N300 per day for 2 square meals) I haven't even added cost of transportation etc and the 10k is already gone. Does this mean 80% of Nigerians eat just once a day? Does this mean 80% of Nigerians don't live in houses? Does this mean only 20% of Nigerians own mobile phones? If no,how do the remaining recharge? Does this mean only 20% of Nigerians have places to live in? If no, where do the rest stay? Does that 80% figure include children ǡŋ₫ young adults? If yes, then these people have no income ǡŋ₫ shouldn't be factored in. Lagos and Kano hold approximately 20% of Nigeria's population with 30+M residents out of Nogeria's 150Mill. If I choose to include states like Ogun, Imo, Ananbra, Oyo, FCT, where the average person can afford at least two square meals, how true then is the 80% of Nigerians are poor theory? Or are the foreign bodies counting Almajiris(the only people ωħ☺ are really poor in my books)to be 80% of our population? Lastly,if I can get two square meals, housing etc ÄŁĻ for 300 naira per day. Does this make ♍€ poor? What are your thoughts? Disclaimer: I have been to the poorest of places in Nigeria, the remotest locations, as well as the richest locations in Nigeria too. Ŝ☺ I know how the really poor people live. Ǡŋ₫ trust me, even they eat two square meals

Youre a disgrace, not only to yourself but also to mankind as a whole, I'll tell you why in a bit.

But, first, let me tell you that youre a freaking disgrace to the Nigerian Education System and the fact that you even hold a degree from any University in that country shows the level of decadence that country has fallen into. 10 more of your likes running around shows that theres no hope for Nigeria anytime soon. And your fellow didirins come dey hail you, you probably come dey fancy yourself as a scholar of inestimable repute, abi?

What you did up there is like a person asking "Whats 2+2?" and you start telling us about the history of Pope John Paul I.

Wetin concern us with how much you earned as a Corper? Is that the question at hand here? Are we asking how you survived as a Corper or are we debating whether or not Nigerians survive on less than $1/day?!

Youre a horrible shame! Jesus, whats wrong with these kids? Is idiocy mixed in the water you all drink or what?

How many Graduates are employed in Nigeria? Do statistics show that more than 80% of Nigerians live in abject poverty or not? Is the minimum wage in Nigeria N18000 or not? Look im mouth like "Egg on the expensive side".

Youre so used to poverty that you actually think youre enjoying. Noodles?! Bread?! N3500 for a room and you come on here to boast about how you were living in total squalor. N2600 in savings every month equates to less than $7/month and thats what you used to buttress your point?!

My friend, honestly, I shiver at the thought that your likes will one day procreate and pass your genes along to another human to continue a generation that will spread your wealth of ignorance.

God!
You are both hammering the same point, can you not read?  He was explaining how he managed to survive on a moderate budget, there was no place in his post that seem like he was boasting.

@Post:

Yes indeed, there are lots of people who live on a budget less than one dollar per day. My experience during NYSC was close to Violent's experience
PoliticsBoko Haram Plans To Strike At Ojukwu's Burial by bookface(op): 10:55pm On Jan 29, 2012
PLANS are being perfected by Boko Haram to strike at the burial ceremony of late Biafran warlord and leader of Ndigbo, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a prophet credited with several successful predictions in the past has warned.

PLANS are being perfected by Boko Haram to strike at the burial ceremony of late Biafran warlord and leader of Ndigbo, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a prophet credited with several successful predictions in the past has warned.

Apostle Timothy Nwabunwanne, Founder and Senior Pastor of Holy Call Assembly, Lagos, told The Moment on Sunday yesterday: ‘God revealed to me that Boko Haram has reached an agreement to come over to the east, and their target is to destabilise the burial of the late warlord.’

Fondly called “a prophet to the nations” by his admirers, Nwabunwanne was ordained a minister in 1992 and went into full-time ministry in 1999.

Among the prophecies credited to him was the Ikeja Military Cantonment bomb blast of January 2002.

Another was the Sosoliso plane crash of 2005, in which he would have been a victim but for the revelation he had.

Nwabunwanne told The Moment on Sunday that he was at Abuja to inform Aso Rock about the impending death of the then Head of State, General Sanni Abacha, but was refused entrance.

On former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third term bid, he said he a futile attempt to see him and passed the message to his Personal Assistant, informing him that Obasanjo would fail in the bid.

The man of God further disclosed that he contacted The Nation newspaper about the imminent death of immediate past President Umaru Musa Yar’adua but the newspaper house requested him to pay some money, which he could not afford.

Ojukwu’s burial in his Nnewi hometown in Anambra State was originally scheduled fro next weekend but has been rescheduled for the first weekend of March following disruptions in the plans by the recent nationwide strike and protests over government’s withdrawal of fuel subsidy.

Nwabunwanne advised Ojukwu’s family, security operatives and the entire easterners to be on the alert to prevent the disruption of the event by Boko Haram. He said that the plan by the terrorist group that has made the northern parts of the country largely ungovernable can be averted through serious prayers.

It would be recalled that policemen on patrol in the Nsukka area of Enugu State on Friday arrested 25 suspected Boko Haram members who were intercepted in a Toyota bus said to belong to the Zamfara State Government.

The suspects, who were reportedly coming from Zamfara State, were intercepted at Okpuje, a border town between Enugu and Kogi State, by a police patrol team on routine stop-and-search. Some of the dangerous weapons recovered from the suspects included guns, unexpended bullets, daggers and battle axes.

PoliticsLocations To Occupy On Monday! by bookface(op): 9:36am On Jan 07, 2012
Fellow Nigerians, It's as clear as daylight that a few individuals have held siege to this country for so long and have benefited from the corrupt government at the expense of the masses.  What's even more frustrating is that while the average country folk feels the heat of the subsidy removal, this few rich individuals who have amassed so much wealth for themselves will be left off not even with a slight pain or embarrassment.

Locations to be Occupied come Monday:

1. Oando Nigerian Plc. – N228.506 billion

2. MRS –N224.818 billion

3. Pinnacle Construction-N300 billion

4. Enak Oil & Gas –N19.684 billion

5. CONOIl – N37.960 billion

6. Bovas & Co. Nig. Ltd. – N5.685 billion,

Very encouraging development. It is with such little steps that countries develop. I am proud.
GEJ has pronounced that a new govt policy to encourage the 40% cassava bread is coming out and Okonjo Iweala has been told to finetune it. Really nice.
What's wrong with the current process?

The new process will be costly, no?  requiring new technology, new skills and lots of inputs of cassava, ultimately the cost  will be transferred to consumers who are jejely enjoying their fresh hot Agege bread made of flour and dough for cheap.

Why make everything more difficult than what it already is?

why does this require a new government policy?

Based on available evidence, you need to withdraw this statement.
There's no evidence yet, compelling enough for me to withdraw either this or any of my statement.

This does not in any way support your initial claim that any expert in a particular branch of maths is equally an expert in any other branch.

Good in all => knowledgeable

Master => Expert
Can i ask that you funrish me with a direct quote of where i mentioned that any expert in a particular branch is equally an expert in all?  even though i have mentioned repeatedly that there's a need to separate book worms from "real mathematicians", and also that the fact that you can claim to "know calculus but suck badly at Statistics" only make you a book worm, not a real mathematician?

If anything, Carol mentioned in her response that she's a Jack of all trade. Last time I checked, that would mean she could demonstrate expertise in almost any related field in mathematics, now, that's what i call a real mathematician.

Good in all => knowledgeable

Master => Expert
This analogy is fraught with flaws, i have no idea where to begin with.

Being a Master and being an expert can be argued to mean different things entirely.

A Master at fixing cars could mean the only specialty the person has is in car fixing and as such, has spent his life fixing cars and given the fact that he's so good at it, may be about the best car fixer in the world.

An expert at fixing car, could be a banker who's just developed sound expertise in car fixing having fixed his own personal car for over 10 years.

Someone who is knowledgeable about cars could mean someone with a basic understanding of cars, he may not even like fixing cars himself.

When Carol meant "I'm a jack of all trade", I am more than willing to place a bet that she's talking in terms of the expert described above.

Have you wondered why you are the only one towing your line of reasoning?
the fact that others don't agree shouldn't make them right and you wrong.

bless the heart of the old folks who said "Only dead fishes swim with the stream".

I have also noticed that you guys haven't been able to mention the name of a renowned mathematician who suck badly in some fields of mathematics, apart from Tanimola's friends of course.

not so fast mate:

A: I have a degree in Computer Science and I'm extremely good at Maths

T:  Anybody can wake up one day and tell us he's the best that ever happened to this world, just tell us how good you are

AJ:  I think the OP is merely saying Maths is his key strength, not necessary that she's the best in her class

T: For one to say he's extremely good at maths without giving details is laughable at best

B: You haven't met real mathematicians, if you do, you will apologize for making such ignorant statements

T: I assume that you have done more on the history of maths  undecided than myself, and i assume you are well educated, so tell us, who is a real mathematician, and give us example of an expert in every area of mathematics.

B: **provided a list of people** and then mentioned that they are called mathematicians simply because they ve embraced mathematics as a way of life

***jumps in the forum idiiot**

M: Bury your head in shame, I'm a solid maths graduate, all those names you mentioned are from google, ***bleating continues***

B: **replies in kind**, agrees maths is a broad discipline, argues an expert is someone who could apply knowledge to solve practical problems easily, argues further that the fact that people have chosen to specialize in a field does not mean they aren't experts in others.

M: ***Bleating hard and profusely***  show us an expert in every field of mathematics, finance graduate, Reading graduate, bla bla bla

B: show me a mathematician who couldn't punch above his weights outside of his field, calls him a dunce for making illogical conclusive statements

M:  ***now frustrated with life, bleats even harder*** show us an expert, blah blah blah

B: show me a mathematician who couldn't punch above his weights outside his field of interest.

Y: **talking to B***  Concede defeat now. Answer "our" question before "we" answer yours

B: Asks for specifics

Y: Provide Specifics

B: Pointed out flaws in Y's thinking, believes it's a shallow way of thinking at best

Y: Realizes flaws, slackens specifics, but thinking remains shallow nonetheless

H:
Contacts living experts

Expert:  I'm a jack of all trade, but a master of none

Y: attempts to force B to concede defeat in the light of this new evidence

B:
Points out sharply and smartly that Expert has merely reinforced his opinion that indeed one can be good in all, not necessarily be a master of all

Y: Calls for truce

H:  Differentiates between maths and non-maths logic/reasoning.

Y: Agrees with H that B might not be on a level playing field, or is swimming against the currents

B:
Clarifies is background, insists that he can hold his forte.

Everyone:  either confused, amused or both.

@Humble01

I understand your genuine intentions to shed better understanding into this argument, but the fact remains what it is-- we are discussing here using pure English terms and rational thinking, the same way you will argue with an everyday guy about who won the FA cup in 1960s.

There's absolutely no evidence to believe that anyone is arguing based on mathematical reasoning, neither is anyone here making absolute conjectures;  The argument  we are having is based on normal everyday generalizations, most mathematicians I have met don't go argue using mathematical reasoning with everyone they meet, unless the environment calls for strictly mathematical discussions.   I have met Carol Alexander on two occasions, the first time was when she presented her review on Statistical models of operational loss, during my conversations with her, her statements were clear, straightforward and to the point, and even as good a mathematician she is, she wasn't making absolute conjectures or mathematical statements unless the topic of discussion demands she does so. This topic of argument does not.

yamakuza:
^ i have to agree with you, and i stronly suspect bookface is not a Mathematician, like 4 of us are.

Why then would he choose to meddle engage in such a fruitless argument with Mathematicians on a Maths topic?

Thank you for your help in resolving this matter.
Your suspicions may not be entirely correct sir.  My background is in quantitative finance, and I'm currently on course for the CQF certificate.  While this may not constitute a pure mathematical background, I can confidently hold my forte when there's need for that.  And may i also include that this is not a Maths topic?  as in, this is a conversation/argument that can be strung by people from pure social sciences background?
