HealthRe: Alcohol Addiction by bookface: 8:48am On May 14, 2011
@Enyojo

I enjoy having drinks with friends in very social settings and many times, I enjoy just getting drunk for the sake of it!. . . .I only do this once in every blue moon and I have been doing this for the past 8 years.
There are months in a row when I don't drink alcohol nor get enticed by the idea of it, as a matter of fact, i just sort of forget about it unless an occasion calls for it.
When the occasion calls for it, i could drink like a fish and to stupor if i wanted to, but afterwards, i'd get back to my normal life and it could take another 9 months before touching another bottle.

what phase of "alcoholism" would you suggest I am?

RomanceWhy Should A Man Get Married? by bookface(op): 1:46pm On Mar 05, 2011
I saw this on a forum, and i thought it might be a good discussion

Why would a man (or most women, for that matter) want to get married these days? It's expensive and full of risks, and a single man can have exactly the amount of sex and fun he wants with almost no consequesnces. A single man can have multiple partners, keep his own money, and decide for himself if/when he wants to have children and what sort of custody arrangement he wants, if any. He doesn't have to shell out for a big wedding or split his assets with another person, and he can live in total freedom. The same goes for a woman, if she chooses. So, apart from a relatively small tax advantage, what do men have to gain from marriage these days?

Justcash:

What else do you want him to do? He has sent JTF .i.e. Policemen and soldiers into Plateau state. It is left for the them to do their job. Is there no governor in Plateau state? The governor should collaborate with the JTF to fish out the murderers as was the case in Abia state. GEJ cannot just act like a despot or Dictator. He got the National assembly and Judiciary to counter his actions. Ironically, If he acts brutally, it is people like you that will be the first to call him a clueless leader. Did y'all not call him an animal  for using force against the Niger-delta militants? What was the reaction like when a whole village was razed by JTF in Niger-delta? They said soldiers were collaborating with Fulani herdsmen, he quickly ensured that a new set of soldiers were brought into the state. I am sure if you were in the same position as him, you'll actually not know what to do.
A smart leader is proactive, not reactive.  If GEJ is anything smart, he would have set up covert intelligence in those places long time ago while there was relative peace.  The intelligence units would be responsible for gathering information using GPS and Spy technology.  That will also include tapping phone conversations of some key suspects and building a secret profile for key radicals. It's however apparent that our president was busy deliberating on how to defeat the Northern cabals when he should be working round the clock to keep our homes safe.

I think it's only dummies that get swayed by the immediate deployment of troops after each crises, wise people should be asking "why has the government not prevented this from happening?''
PoliticsEmeagwali Lied Again! by bookface(op): 12:50am On Nov 22, 2010
In a bid to defend himself against allegations of fraudulent claims leveled against him by leading American scientists,American-based Nigerian scientist, Philip Emeagwali, has told a new set of lies, an investigation has shown. In an article he published on ‘nigeriavillagesquare.com’,a Nigerian Internet discussion forum, to deflect the damaging allegations against him, Mr. Emeagwali claimed he had a 17-year academic career in eight-degree programmes at five universities.

He added that he bagged “an equivalent of six degrees in mathematics and Engineering” from those universities. But NEXT checks at the universities Mr. Emeagwali usually claim to have attended indicate that he has just three academic degrees from three universities

The embattled scientist earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Oregon State University in 1977; a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 1986; and another Masters in Ocean and Marine Engineering (not civil and marine engineering as he often claims) from George Washington University in 1986

Contrary to his claim that he earned a first degree from the University of London after self-study -as contained in a profile of himself he provided to the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineering,(IEEE), Lisa Pierre, the alumni relations’ manager of the university said there is no record to back such a claim.“I can’t find him in our database,” Ms Pierre said in response to the enquiry.

In the same IEEE profile, Mr. Emeagwali claimed he earned a doctorate in civil engineering (scientific computing) from the University of Michigan. But the spokesperson for the university,Deborah Greene, said although Mr. Emeagwali attended the university, he was not awarded a degree because he failed to complete the requirements for a Ph.D.

That was even after the university agreed to waive some of their requirements for candidacy. To buttress her points, Ms Greene referred NEXT to the judgment of a 1996 case Mr. Emeagwali instituted against her university claiming that the university discriminated against him because of his race.
But, in an unanimous judgment delivered in October 29, 1999, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled against Mr. Emeagwali, saying he could not have been awarded a doctorate after he failed to pass his examination

“Plaintiff did not take his qualifying examination until May 1991. He failed this examination, was given an opportunity to retake the examination in July 1991,and failed this examination as well,” Judges P.J. Murphy, Holbrook, Jr. and J.J. Gage, ruled.

Mr. Emeagwali’s dissertation was also found to have fallen far short of the standard expected of a doctoral candidate.“Plaintiff submitted his dissertation on July 24, 1992. The university faculty members who ultimately reviewed the dissertation did not view it favorably,” the judgment said. “On June 17, 1993,Gulari (a professor in Mr. Emeagwali’s department) notified plaintiff that the engineering college faculty had concluded that his thesis was not worthy of a doctorate degree.”

These simple acts should have made you know that both countries were hostile to eachother and knew they weren't friends.

These i have tried to push into your brains that America in the first place actually dedicated pearl Harbor for their Asia threat which happened to be Japan at that time, you just wouldn't see that, will you?

Why did Japan attack just the Harbor and not mainland or other parts of the US?

it's late in the night, i can't continue with you, just stick to your part of the story while i stick to mine, don't call mine wrong because they are different from yours, i got my info from my own source which i provided part of them to you. anyways good day/night.
You are simply arguing blindly.

The fact that they weren't friends does not necessarily mean that Japan has a moral justification to attack while peace terms were being negotiated, its the worst form of cowardice.

Pearl Harbor is located in Hawaii which is the southernmost state of the United States, and it was set up to give US an advantage in any case they wish to join the war

Japan attacked the harbor and not the mainlands because the Harbor is where America's biggest naval fleet reside, America poses economic threat to Japan, YES, but Japan started off the military action which led to thousands of American naval officers.

It is only unfair to blame America for attacking Hiroshima and Nagasaki

I am only ashamed of the laziness of the SSS. This is why they respond to conjectures and started their investigation by arresting campaign managers instead of chasing terrorists.
I wouldn't be so quick to start throwing rocks at the men of the SSS.  It is only appropriate they move and work fast with all details and information available to them,  . .and this they did by checking phone connections, money transfers, personal relationships, and then establishing motives as they move on.

If they have links pointing to a particular direction, it is only expedient that the move in that direction, and fast too!. . .

Frankly speaking, the state of art of technology in Nigeria is deplorable, and i don't think the SSS deserves the right to be blamed for that. In sane countries, stronger investigations is aided by highly advanced technology and street cameras. . . but those guys are not equipped with those, all they had to work with is information, common guys, give em some credit!

It establishes a relationship but does not establish it definitely has anything to do with October 1 bomb blast in Abuja.
43 phone calls between a well known militant leader with history of encouraging violence and sabotaging governmental infrastructure and co-perpetrators and co-conspirators of the blast within a very little time frame establishes a lot of connection.

Not to talk of evidence found in his diary which shows strong motive and intentions to carry out terrorist acts, and his self testaments of how he wouldn't rest till the Nigerian government falls---

with all these, i doubt any serious judge will allow such an individual to walk free on the streets in South Africa
PoliticsRe: Prosecution Presents Evidence Against Okah by bookface: 3:09pm On Oct 21, 2010
@Mikeansy:

you don't think 43 voice calls and 27 messages to a terrorist group, not withstanding the content is enough to establish a strong link?

even if the contents of all the voice calls had been mere pleasantries, the prosecutors could lay claim that those pleasantries are highly decoded messages and then go on to request that the Judge deny you bail till they find out the motive behind those calls.

Its too early in a trial to provide recorded calls, and even such might be unavailable, given laws protecting private lives of individuals. . .even the CIA is not in possession of the phone calls of all American citizens.
