JUST IN: Court Nullifies All The Primaries Conducted By APC In Rivers Following the judgment, the APC no longer has candidates for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and state House of Assembly elections for the... @APCNigeria READ MORE: http:///2pK5Mcm ustice Chiwendu Nwogu of a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has nullified the nomination of Tonye Cole as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. The judge made the pronouncement on Wednesday, on the ground that his nomination is a function of illegality and unconstitutional acts. The court also nullified the the Rivers State APC Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly primaries, citing illegalities. The High Court further nullified all the elections of Rivers APC ward executives, local government executives and State Executive Committee that arose from the said ward congresses. In a judgment delivered by Justice Chiwendu Nwogu in a suit filed by Ibrahim Imah and 22 others against the APC, the court declared that the ward congresses of Rivers APC were illegal, because they were not conducted in line with the APC guidelines and the party's constitution. He set aside the ward congresses of Rivers APC on May 19, 2018, local government congresses of May 19, 2018 and state congress of the party held on May 21, 2018. He stated that all actions taken by the APC during the pedancy of the suit had been set aside, because they are "illegal and unconstitutional". Justice Nwogu declared that all those who purchased nomination forms for the ward congresses were entitled to contest the ward congresses of May 19, 2018, but were unjustly excluded by the party. He said: "The rule by might must be checked by the rule of law. We must restore the hope of the common man in the justice system." Justice Nwogu, who based his judgement on the Amaechi versus INEC Matter of 2007, noted that having studied the submissions in the matter, he was bound to make consequential orders to ensure that justice was done in the case. He stated that the High Court has jurisdiction to entertain the matter as an appeal filed by the respondents at the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, to stop proceedings on the suit was rejected by the appellate court on September 21, 2018. He stated that all through the hearing, the APC filed no counter-affidavit denying the facts of the matter, as presented by the applicants in the originating summons, noting that it is trite law that facts not disputed are deemed admitted. On the suit filed in an Abuja High Court by a faction of the APC, Justice Nwogu declared that the court is of coordinate jurisdiction with the High Court in Port Harcourt, and cannot sit in appeal over it. He added that the suit filed by Ibrahim Imah preceded that of the Abuja High Court by a faction of the Rivers State APC. Earlier, a counsel to the APC, Prince OSM Azunda moved a motion seeking to stop the delivery of the judgment. However, Justice Nwogu dismissed his application, which he termed as a ploy to arrest the judgement. Following the judgment, the APC no longer has candidates for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and state House of Assembly elections for the 2019 general election. The party also has no state working committee, local government working committees and ward executives.

lasmile: By Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tell Nigerians what he used the N13 trillion his government borrowed within three years of his administration for.
Atiku, in a statement Tuesday by his Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, said that the Buhari government and the APC have been very idle of late, which explains their abandonment of the vital duties in order to focus on hurling insults and false accusations on the presidential candidate of the PDP. It said: “The Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation runs an issue-based campaign where refined language and cerebral arguments founded on facts are used to disseminate the vision of our candidate which is why we call on the Buhari Campaign Organisation to waste no time in taking the #BuhariChallenge in clearing the air on these knotty issues bothering the minds of Nigerians.”
While challenging the Buhari Campaign Organisation to take the #BuhariChallenge and answer the following questions among others, it said: “Name one year that Nigeria’s GDP grew faster than her population under Buhari (for 16 years of PDP administrations, Nigeria’s GDP always grew faster than population growth).
“Name the initiatives the Buhari government has put in place to address Nigeria being named the world headquarters for extreme poverty under Buhari.
“Name one initiative the Buhari government has put in place to address Nigeria having the world’s highest number of out of school children; 13.2 million according to the United Nations Children Fund. Name the date the Ogoni cleanup will begin.
“Name what President Buhari has done with the N13 trillion loans he has taken in 3 years, compared to the N6 trillion borrowed by the PDP in 16 years.
“Name one youth in President Buhari’s cabinet. Name one campaign promise President Buhari has kept. Name the real owners of the Ikoyi apartment billions.”
It stressed that these are the issues the Nigerian people want to hear about, not insults from a Presidency and a party that have spent three years in office only to preside over Nigeria’s first ever recession in 25 years.
“We urge the Buhari administration to remember that it is this disinterest in real governance and focus on trivia that caused Bill Gates to look President Buhari in the eye and tell him that ‘your economic blueprint does not address Nigerians’ needs’.

Something tells me the report is true and that Tambuwal's throne has been kept intact for him. The PDP in Sokoto is operating a Monarchy style Government, like the one in Kwara State, and not the Democratic practice enshrined in our constitution. There is nothing wrong with substituting a candidate, its enshrined in most political party's constitution. I think its backed up by the electoral act (i stand to be corrected though) |

oladele00: ANALYSIS OF THE MASSIVE FINANCIAL CORRUPTION AT THE PDP PRIMARY/NATIONAL CONVENTION - A MUST READ!
Written by Sirajo Sabo Gassol.
There are at least 4,000 delegates participating in PDP's presidential primary election. Saraki is paying each delegate $1,000 (N350,000), that is potentially $4Million (N1.4 Billion) for delegates alone, his opening bid as at yesterday. Atiku opened his own bid at $5,000 (N1,750,000) per delegate, or $20,000,000 (N7 Billion) for all the delegates. Nyesom Wike was paying $10,000 per delegate, or $40,000,000 (N14,000,000,000) for delegates alone. These figures were part of the early bids as at yesterday. Nobody knows how much they finally paid, but some inside sources said it's been up to $15,000 (N5,250,000) per delegate.
There are at least 12 aspirants contesting in this election, and by the time they're done hundreds of billions of naira must have changed hands. Only that they're not spending it in naira, they're spending it in dollars. When we told you that the recession that happened due to the hoarding of dollars and depletion of our foreign reserves and excess crude account was caused by the PDP you denied...
So where did they get the dollars they're spending now from? How many of them have any private business that generates so much wealth? Or are they simply spending money belonging to poor people? What exactly are they buying that they have to spend so much? Is it only vote they're buying or our future with it? Are these the same bunch of hypocrites who like to release press statements condemning vote buying when election does not go their way but who are shamelessly buying votes right under our noses? Can we honestly expect anything good from this same characters who said they have repented and that we should forgive them their sins but who have not shown any sign of repentance at all? How exactly will they "change the change" if they have not even changed their own corrupt ways?
The signs are always there, right before our very own eyes. Everything to show that the one who promises El Dorado is nothing but a fraud, but we almost always chose to ignore them because of our own prejudice and personal interests. How exactly is a Saraki, a Tambuwal, a Kwankwoso, an Atiku who is being sponsored by money stolen from poor people better than a Buhari who was voted in by the ordinary masses of Nigeria without a single dime changing hands? I trust some of you would like to remind me that when Buhari first came into power that he was sponsored by stolen money too, but you're saying that that Buhari should give way for someone better... So how exactly is the one you're supporting today better? Would you not rather stick with the "devil" you know than the wolves in sheep clothing that we all know are even far worse?
If you think Buhari is bad then wait for Kwankwoso, wait for Atiku, wait for Saraki and wait for Tambuwal. These are people who have no pity for the poor. At least Buhari pities the poor, which is why he pays them NPOWER, gives their children free feeding in school, gives them conditional cash transfers, invests heavily in food production through his agric revolution, gives bailouts to state governments to pay salaries, and refused to devalue the naira...
So, if you see all that and say Buhari is bad then wait for a people who have no respect for poor people. Saraki is today the Senate President, what has he done to restructure the country which is a constitutional matter? What has he done to improve the welfare of poor people? Tambuwal is today the governor of Sokoto State, should he not first transform Sokoto State before coming to ask for a bigger responsibility? When he was speaker of the House of Reps, what did he do about the restructuring he's deceiving us with today? That one called Atiku was the most powerful Vice President in Nigerian history, yet only used his powers to enrich himself and his cronies at the expense of the poor masses.
Listen to them talk today, none of them says anything about corruption... Is that because corruption is dead in Nigeria or because they simply do not have the moral ground to speak against it? None of them tells us what they're going to do to strengthen institutions like the police, judiciary, INEC etc... None of them has any clearcut plan on the economy, security, restructuring, power supply, job creation, education, healthcare, restructuring. The only thing they say is "Buhari has failed, we're going to do better because he who failed woefully before have repented", even though there is no evidence to that.
I just pity the gullible wailers who don't know their left from their right, this is why these people are playing them like football.

Science/Technology › Re: Between Whites And Locals Over A Turtle Caught At Eko Atlantic by Born2Breed(f): 11:03am On Oct 09, 2018 |
nairalaila: There was a little pandemonium between whites and locals over a turtle caught during fishing at Eko Atlantic, Lagos and it was captured in tweets by Twitter user @joeyakan.
Taking to Twitter to share the story of the turtle, he wrote;
A story of hope. Thread. So behind my office at Landmark Towers, there's a body of water that links to the seas. White fishermen show up a lot and cast their nets to catch some fish. They are welcome, treated with respect and assisted by the locals. The men in turn behave.
But today, something happened. When the white fishermen cast their nets, they caught a lot of fish. But they also caught something strange, a large water turtle. Catching a water turtle was a shock, but it also came with toll – the shell of the turtle tore the net. Damaged it.
And then the best thing happened. The locals rallies and stopped the men from taking the turtle away. "Na only fish you get permission to catch," one said. "This one no be fish. Drop am." The men refused, and an argument came on. They called more locals for support.
The men called the police attached to Landmark for help. The police supported the locals. Turns out water turtles are almost extinct because of poaching and the work on Eko Atlantic affecting their habitat. So these locals came together to make a law protecting them. It worked.
The numbers are decent now. Turtles are back, and they need protection. The whites, seeing that they were not going to get any support, asked them to pay for the cost of the damage to their nets. They negotiated for long, before they agreed and money was exchanged.
The turtle was returned, and it was carried to the sea in a little ceremony. People marched as it was hoisted in the air. When it touched the water, everyone clapped. The turtle went back in, saved by humans. The whites left. Case closed.
So, while Nigeria brings all of its negativity to shred your spirit, there still exists some good in small pockets of light. People who have chosen to take charge of their corner and make it better. I just saw one of such pockets in action. And I am so happy.
My heart is warm and beating loud. God bless those guys. Amen. The End.

onuebonyi: •To decide on zoning of position between South-west and South-east tomorrow •Age, knowledge of economy key criterion for nomination
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has begun earnest search for his running mate as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for the submission of names of parties’ candidate expires on Monday.
By the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, no candidature is complete without a running mate. THISDAY sources close to the Atiku camp said at least three technocrats and two politicians have been penciled down for the position.
The technocrats are, former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo; former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina; and former Managing Director of Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), Mr. Chike Obi.
The politicians being considered for the number two position are, former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
According to a source, the candidate and the PDP hierarchy are still undecided on the zone the position should be allotted. But he said the scope had been narrowed down to the South-west and the South-east.
“We would have to weigh the electoral value of both zones and decide where we would allot it,” the source said, explaining that there was the need to maintain a balance between the existing political configuration, which requires the party to challenge the dominance of the APC in the high voting South-west by picking a running mate that would challenge the electoral advantage of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; and the need to retain the loyalty of the South-east that had remained a PDP stronghold.
Both zones were believed to have helped Atiku to neutralise the Northern zones’ delegates’ votes that went to Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal during the presidential primary on Saturday.
A source told THISDAY that the matter would be trashed out tomorrow at a meeting of the presidential candidate with the party hierarchy. Apart from zoning, Atiku is also said to be considering age and knowledge of the economy and economics as two major criterions for the selection of the running mate.
According to a source, the presidential candidate thinks his running mate has to be a much younger person as a strategy to appeal to the army of youths, which is already up in arms against the old brigade.
Atiku is, however, said to be insisting that such a young man must also have deep knowledge of the economy as his focus is on the revival of the economy to create jobs for the teaming unemployed population.
“His challenge, therefore, is how to strike the balance between getting a youthful running mate and an economy savvy candidate. Both must be rolled into one,” a source said, explain that this might have informed the short list that was revealed to THISDAY.
