Kaycee7: The Harder They Fall (2021) 9/10
Jeymes Samuel puts together a thing of beauty here. I can't remember the last time I saw someone being fully involved in the production of a movie. He wrote the story, contributed to the screenplay and composed the score. Honestly, if someone told me he prepared the food in catering too, I'd believe them.
The Harder They Fall is a fun, soulful ride through the Wild West telling the tale of a cycle of vengeance, relationships and convictions.
Jeymes Samuel put together an awesome cast of both veteran and young actors and boy, does everyone deliver on the assignment. If you had any doubts about Jonathan Majors having a career as leading man, he clears those doubts in this movie. Lakeith Stanfield is a scene stealer and definitely has me as a fan now.
And of course, one can't talk about this movie without appreciating the god-tier soundtrack. Hip-hop, Reggae, Afrobeats and even some opera and classical. Speaking of which, I desperately need to get my hands on the choir version of "The Harder They Fall" track.
This movie is absolutely a treat that I'm going to enjoy as many times as I can find the time. And I would like to see more from Jeymes Samuel. Jonathan Majors? The guy was already a great lead actor in Lovecraft County

DrDax: Id.iot.
Sit your pompous argumentative a.rse down and take some correction.
"Law is actually a product of culture, much like every single other social construction. Our culture defines how we perceive society and our place in it, and thus how we perceive what society “ought to be” and the rules it should follow.
I could go on endlessly, but instead I will refer you to Austin Sarat & Thomas R. Kearns excellent work Law in the Domains of Culture (University of Michigan Press, 1998). It may be a bit dated, but I find most of it still quite relevant today." Trash. Rubbish. Nonsense. English culture 50 years ago -no gay rights -christian religion and prayer compulsory in schools -interracial marriage frowned upon -Bishops of church of England wielded power I'm government Today, all of these things have changed. Culture is a bad influence on law. Things change. Logic and principles last longer. |

Born2Freak: Your comment betrays your level of reasoning.
It's clear that you don't know two basic facts that should be common sense
1. Logic is universal. Culture is local and tribal. Both a Chinese man and a Nigerian will logically conclude that 2+2=4. 2. Principles are gotten from communication and exchange. You deal with people and you try to see how you can come up with good practices that Foster and protect human interactions. J2381, I hope you are learning |

OSDD: It's always important not to shift the goal post during conversation, I don't need your show of logics and principle here..
My stance will always be the same
Homosexuality has no room in Africa culture, if you're not happy with it, deal with it This is why they say that Nigerians argue with emotions instead of logic and sense. Which dirty African culture? The same culture that allows men to marry unlimited number of wives? The same culture that gives inheritance to the first son, irrespective of circumstances? The same African cultures where there is FGM? The same African cultures that don't have age of consent? Where 65 year old men can marry 15 year old girls? Lol.....so much for culture. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Born2Freak(f): 7:11pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
DrDax: Semantics.
Culture covers all aspects of life and living.
Law simply rubber stamps certain aspects of culture. Smh. Low IQ. In many cultures, women are seen as lesser than men and are not allowed in many leadership positions. Should that dictate law? Logic is universal. Abeg. Stick to movies. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Born2Freak(f): 7:08pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
OSDD: Logic and principle laid down by who? Laws are based on culture and tradition of the society, principles are not gotten from neither the moon nor stars.... Logic is a way of reasoning, how does it relate with law?
You know what a law is right? Your comment betrays your level of reasoning. It's clear that you don't know two basic facts that should be common sense 1. Logic is universal. Culture is local and tribal. Both a Chinese man and a Nigerian will logically conclude that 2+2=4. 2. Principles are gotten from communication and exchange. TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Born2Freak(f): 6:14pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
OSDD: So on what basis should law be upon? Homosexuality is a crime in Nigeria and any move, music, movie or any form of support will be frowned upon..
Fyi, the instance you gave is for a particular culture, generally, Africa culture frowns at homosexuality... Law should be based on logic and principles. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Born2Freak(f): 6:03pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
DrDax: Law is based on culture sir.
Say something else. No....it is based on logic. This is why English law has moved away from culture |

OSDD: You are already getting emotional here.. homosexuality has no place In our culture, if you feel bad about it, you can travel to those countries.. Because other western nations accept it doesn't mean we should Law shouldnt be based on culture, not that there is any precedent in Nigerian cultures banning gay movies. You are the one using emotions. Our culture also allows a man's brother to inherit his wife, if he dies. Should we take that as law too? People like you who argue that we should respect culture, do so with bias |

J2381: Guy, the only thing these wankers_ understand better than their offline existence is insults.
From yesterday I've mentioned countless times Nigeria banned Naira Marley's song, Coming yet, they're giving themselves mind orgasm because Nigeria banned a movie.
Even Zule Zoo's song Kerewa was banned way before there was anything like social media. Yet these one sided losers are foaming in their mouth because they banned "Eternals". And should Naira Marley's song be banned? Two wrongs do not make a right. Stop reasoning with bias and emotions. Normal countries have "radio edits" for songs that are vulgar- the vulgar words are edited out when played on radio. There age restrictions label on CDs or copies that are legally sold. There are modern and effective solutions but you want to be like the average Nigerian that is too emotional |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Born2Freak(f): 2:09pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
OSDD: Secular country doesn't mean we should filter what goes in and out of our country. Fgs, it was only banned in cinemas, it's not cool to let kids watch two grown adult of same sex make out. If you so much want to watch it, wait for it on the highseas.. Movies should be filtered with facts and not religious sentiments. If kids can watch two straight people kiss in disney movies, then they should be able to watch 2 gay people kiss. |

J2381: of course they matter, that's why they have other Avenue of watching the movie. Like I said, Naira Marley's song is banned but it doesn't mean it's not still played? Choice bro, and control. Oh brother. "I'm sure the FG is responsible for providing security in your own flat" simply mean most houses have a security guard attached to their house (especially in Lagos) So also many street now mount gates and employ a night guard there. I believe they call them 'olode' in yoruba.
Now tell me why those people who do such didn't wait for the FG to do that for them? Dude there's a reason why they say "charity begins at home". Your security bill should be part of your taxes? guy please stop Abeg.
Like I told Queenslander. The same rogues who cheat the government everyday, are the same individuals who will contest for elected office, and when they win, will do nothing but loot and still say "before I became an elected official what did the government do for me". Kaycee7 used a very apt word for you- "apathy". Apathy is a side effect from Stockholm syndrome. When you start romanticising your kidnapper, you become indifferent to the suffering that the kidnapper inflicts on you and others. In this case, you are the victim and the FG is the kidnapper. It is sad how many Nigerians can't see how they aid the Nigerian governments nonsense |

Kaycee7: "I want to watch this movie but I'm also happy it's been banned because there's a scene I don't like, even though said scene won't stop me from watching the movie."
Then there's the part where the country enacting said ban can't even provide security and basic amenities for its citizens.
H.Y.P.O.C.R.I.S.Y Pharisees no do reach like this Well said. Nigerians and their hypocrisy. Thank you |

I've long known you live in acute denial and self delusion. The internet is the only thing that gives your meaningless life a semblance of sense, yet you're rejected like a piece of soiled tissue paper, used to wipe the vagina of a 500 naira hoe.
Perish the thought the day a mocha pudita like you will give me the history of my awesome life. You useless piece human garbage. Shame took several light years back anytime your foolish moniker pops up.
Now get lost and run back inside the vagina that shat you into this horrid world you live in. So, in your mind, you have written something sensible? Rambling like the local beer parlor drunkard does not look good on you. |

pu7pl3: Shang Chi - 4/10
Another trash marvel movie I had really high hopes for, boring lead actor with zero screen presence, unnecessary plot devices and characters, forced humour Akwafina needs to be flogged
I should have waited for the high seas, these stupid critical acclaims got me again
Only good thing it had going was the father(Mandarin), his sister on the other hand had no real reason to be in the movie except to pander to SJW propaganda...
The blood of my money will haunt people that compared this shiit to Iron Man 1 Lol. Shang Chi 6.5/10. Nice fight scenes but unstable plot. Awkwafina is annoying. Would have been mad to see iron fist |
