PoliticsRe: Xenophobic Rage: Why We Don’t Want To Return Home by Born2smile: 12:25pm On Sep 14, 2019
Why remain in a country where your life is not certain? No matter how much you have built over the years, it is incomparable to your life and safety.

If they kill you there, the South Africans will still take over everything you have built. There is no reason to believe that the South Africans will change.

Is it not far better to liquidate all your assets and return to naija? There is always no place like home.
From here, you can work towards your next move. Life is a never ending rollercoaster. Life goes on.

There's a lot of Relevant background info to be considered here, including the way China works when it comes to Internet use and censorship.
The government monitors its citizens and the it has control over private Companies so it's not difficult to understand where those feelings emanated from. For all you know, those people were only able to chat with you cos they had access to a vpn

It's also true that companies mine data but some are worse than others. Google and Facebook are very concerning in my book and I try to restrict them as much as I can. I can't remember the last time I did a Google search or used chrome. These are small measures but it is something... I think
Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc, etc in fact all the tech companies in the world have gone beserk when it comes to end user data.
The Western companies mine data mainly to have competitive advantage.
Just as you suggested, the Chinese companies mine data not only for competitive advantage but also because of pressure from the State (political reasons).

The continent that seems to be doing well in terms of privacy is Europe (GDPR stuff). The tech giants have had to adapt their software and devices to comply with EU laws.
Google, Microsoft, etc have had some tough times with Europe in recent times.
Chinese phone makers on the other hand have had to produce separate ROMs specifically for EU so that they are in compliance.

We Africans don't care. We just want cheap devices with excellent specs. grin

Chai!
I don't think redmi 7 supports Qualcomm quick charge 3.0
Check out the list of supported devices here.

https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list

Newer devices such as redmi note 8 are yet to be added to the list.

What's the worst charger you've ever bought??

Mine: floveme nonsense that's qc 3.0 certified. Redmi 7 follow come charger with 5v-2a is faster than the so called quick charger.
Question: how do you identify a qc 3.0 certified charger?

These Chinese people bashed their own brands, Samsung, lg and iPhone was their preferred phone.....I was speechless
I am not surprised. Everybody has his own taste. Huawei and xiaomi continue to make good sales even in their home country.

From your post, it seems their main concern is privacy.

If one thinks of privacy too much, you will not even use a smartphone.
Whenever your data is on, just Know that you are not private.

Google, Truecaller, Facebook (including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, etc) and other apps such as games, email apps, etc are uploading your contacts and other data to their servers. All in the name of giving you better "service"

Samsung, iphone, Huawei, xiaomi, etc all upload your data especially when you are sleeping or charging your phone.

In the end, you just have to choose who you want to have your info.
If you don't want Google to have your info, don't use Android or Google apps. Which is almost impossible. grin
EducationRe: Flogging Boys On The Buttocks And Girls On The Hands In Schools by Born2smile: 8:12am On Sep 07, 2019
Why flog when you can give the child punishment such as cutting grass, cleaning or writing 1 to 10,000 on a brand new notebook?

Anyway, when I was in school, flogging was mostly on the hand. You get flogged on your butt if your offense is especially serious. I don't remember females being flogged on their butt though.

I feel flogging should be scrapped as there are more effective ways to discipline a child in a way that he or she will never forget.

I love the screen recording. I have been able to record many online courses on LinkedIn Learning one month free trial. I will download it for offline viewing with Airtel Trybe. It has really been helpful.
Call recording, screen recording, easy capturing and editing of screenshot (including scrolling screenshot), built-in firewall, etc etc. The Chinese companies (including xiaomi) use such features to get a person hooked grin such that you ignore any other inconveniences such as occassional bugs.

By the way, YouTube and Edx have a lot of free training content which you can download offline using their mobile apps.

It's normal call recording on Android nah.
On which Android version? I am curious cos I have not observed it on any non customized android skin out of the box.
Apps on Google play store that do record calls effectively are most times not free.

By the way, hope Nigerian law does not forbid call recording sha...... grin

After looking at things critically, I guess nothing is lost much between Note 8 and Note 7.
The major points is the camera upgrade, the increase in RAM & ROM for the price and the CPU upgrade.

The GPU is the only let down. The Adreno 610 isn't bad at all but the Adreno 512 holds its ground. And thats going by the Samsung A70 reviews on GSMArena which coincidentally which compared that of the Note 7 GPU with Samsung A70.

I like the fact that Xiaomi produced an upgrade for a lesser price...even with better specs to boot.
This cannot be said for some other Chinese phone companies...if you know what I'm saying.
Look at the specs critically again. You will find that a few sacrifices have been made to arrive at that price. In the end, you will always get what you pay for. Shikena! grin

God bless xiaomi.

Guys please I need urgent answers on which phone to go for....
The redmi k20pro or pre sale redmi note 8
I don't know if note 8 camera will be better that's why I'm undecided yet
But in general k20 pro is better in performance
I need advise guys
I wouldn't advice you to buy a newly released phone. It is always better to wait like one month after it is released to avoid unpleasant surprises. smiley

@genius43 any idea why this wifi scanning turns back on? I have turned it off countless number of times.

After some days, when I check again I find it on.

Bed? huhWhere do we keep it then? On the ground?
Preferably keep it on a table. If you must keep it on your bed, keep it around where you place your head.

But if you want to sleep very well at night, your phone should not be around your bed. grin

Please I want to ask a question that has been on my mind since. For instance my RN7 screen cracks, if I order a replacement screen, will it still be gorilla glass 5 or just the normal glasshuh Replies please.
Get a good tempered glass to protect your screen.
Most importantly, be careful with your phone.

Don't ever leave it on your bed or chair.

Guess the phone is not seeing whatsapp call as a real call but rather as a are chatting app. So the proximity sensor was not activated for that call. You can use handsfree for the call maybe the issue would be resolved later.
It was activated but was not consistent.
Sometimes it responded well but intermittently failed to respond. I had to switch to Bluetooth headset because my cheek was operating my phone during the call.

But this shouldn't be happening in the first place.
This is the first time I am noticing it. I have been making WhatsApp calls since without experiencing such.
If it helps, I recently installed these updates and I am yet to update my WhatsApp from Google play store.

So this proximity sensor ish has come to my rn7.

Just had the most horrible WhatsApp call ever.
My question is why don't I experience it when I am making normal calls? Why does it happen only in WhatsApp call?

I hope and pray Xiaomi will include "enter password" before switching off the phone in a lock screen mode in the next update Miui 11. It'll save many from pickpockets and theft especially if the phone is connected to a band.
