I'm a developer I care less about premium stuffs coz I can easily clone or get mod or hack as for spyware , malware I really care less as it's part of learning. What you said is practiced in western country not in Nigeria.
So as a professional googler, sorry developer, you don't care about premium software because you can easily get it through dubious means. And you are okay with adware, spyware and other dangerous software on your phone because you will learn one or two things from them. You are a very interesting fellow. grin

Why buy when you can get mod or use freedom or patcher to unlock it
All this because of 400 naira? undecided
Why do we consider it a taboo to buy software? Trying to cut corners is part of the reason we end up installing adware, spyware and viruses on our phones and causing more harm to ourselves without realizing it. angry

There is no free lunch, even in Freetown. You are paying for it in one way or another.

Someone pls recommend a nice & suitable launcher (with app drawer button on the homescreen) for Redmi Note 7...thanks cool
If you have 400 naira to spend, get nova launcher prime. Else, Microsoft launcher is an excellent launcher that is free. But to really enjoy it, you might want to turn of all the non-essential features such as cortana, connection to different accounts, etc. In fact, skip signing into it.

So I just got my Redmi Note 7 and here's what I noticed:

*The rear camera is amazing;Worth the hype.
*Selfie cam is almost horrible, makes face unlocking difficult ( My Redmi Note 5a Prime selfie cam was far better) Even on Gcam, it still isn't encouraging. Wish there was something that can be done about it.
*The battery is by far excellent..
*That emergency SOS is very innovative!

The experience has been wonderful tho..
Sometimes I wonder if it is the same redmi note 7 that I am using. I just did a Whatsapp call with someone who uses a Samsung flagship and asked if my video feed is clear and up to expectation. The answer was an affirmative yes. This is someone who knows absolutely nothing about xiaomi. My view of it is also good.

May I suggest you check if your front camera lens is clear of debris and smudge.
Also, what miui version are you on? Mine is as shown in the picture below:

Gcam beats default camera hands down, even when I show some of my photos to a camera man he said this is not an ordinary phone camera that I have install an app, which makes the photos rich and brilliant.
Well in my observation, gcam only does better when snapping at night or poorly lit environment. When conditions are perfect, default camera does much better than gcam.

Just my opinion though.

Do share you findings after exploring
So I played a little with the FTP feature in xiaomi file manager.

I setup a wifi hotspot using another phone,
connected my RN7 to the hotspot, then started the ftp on the RN7. It generated an ftp link ip address.
I opened the link in the phone hosting the Hotspot and I was able to browse and download all the contents of the RN7. Below are observations so far:

1) the phone running the ftp (ie the RN7) cannot also host the hotspot
2) I could not restrict the ftp to just a particular folder
3) I have the option to use a password in the ftp although this failed most of the time
4) apparently, any device connected to the same Hotspot or network as the ftp can open the ftp link and access the full contents of the RN7
5) the ftp feature is cool but the download is not as fast as file transfer using Xender or MI drop grin

FTP File Transfer Protocol is a standard network protocol used for file transfer between [in this case] your phone and a PC (Computer) without the need of connecting your device with a USB cable
Okay thanks.

I am looking for a way to setup a fileserver on my phone such that other devices can connect, browse and download the contents of my phone. If possible, I would like to restrict them to the folder I share with them. I wonder if this FTP feature can handle that. I will explore and see.

Oga it really ain't that straight forward o with band 28...The taste of the pudding is in the eating... We have a lot of users of redmi 7 here using global version... And i don't think they're see any glo 4g o
Yes read through some other comments here. Band 28 has two variants. Unfortunately, redmi go doesn't support the one glo uses.

Yes it is. Glo uses 28b
All I can say is that both glo and xiaomi need to be more specific in their product descriptions.

This is one big problem with electrical and electronic stuff.

Did any redmi or Xiaomi phone global version support band 28 which works with Nigeria Glo?
Yes. MI 8 lite, MI mix 2, etc, etc, etc

Sometimes some sellers post things like this to draw people into buying from them.
According to Hong-Kong Goldway store on Aliexpress, redmi 7 global version has band 28 support.
The Aliexpress item description is one of the most reliable sources of product specifications out there.

Exactly, I told someone on this thread and there was an argument. The Redmi Go I bought for my sister doesn't support Glo 4G despite it been listed. It reminded me of the Camon Cx Air o used. Probably the device only have band 28a activated and not Band 28a/b since Glo uses band 28b
The band 28 thing is starting to confuse me. It's like band 28 has two children and unfortunately glo 4G and redmi go only supports one on the opposite ends.

I just hope the band 28 is different from the one in redmi go.
The one in redmi go doesn't support glo 4G.

Chai...Dis one Don exceed the 27watts recommended nah.....hw much is this?
what make?
and is it still healthy for my RN7?
Does it come with the supported cable actually?
Before buying a charger that supports qualcomm quick charge 4, make sure to check the list of supported chargers in the qualcomm site. There is a downloadable pdf that lists all the supported devices, chargers, etc.

https://www.qualcomm.com/solutions/mobile-computing/features/quick-charge

I made the mistake of buying a fake last month. Thankfully, I opened dispute and my money was refunded.

Please could you throw some light on these two features.

Thanks in advance.

Google fine can extract Zip file but cant extract rar
Okay great. Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully they will add the ability extract rar.

The Chinese are often very good at giving you very nice features unavailable in stock android such as the ability to quickly record calls, twin apps, etc.

Men!!! This thread is running with blazing speed!
Could someone please kindly give me a gist of what has been going on.
I have neither the time nor the eyes to read through 50+ pages.

Meanwhile, Google has already arranged the funeral for xender, mi drop, xiaomi file manager, in fact, all other file managers by releasing this best in class app called files.
Maybe Es file explorer might survive the assassination. grin

One area xiaomi file manager is better than Files by Google: it can easily extract zipped and rar files.

Two areas Files by Google is better than xiaomi file manager:
It helps you to locate and delete duplicate files and
It doesn't show ads

Na old app na
Like how old?

You don install the latest version?
In there, you have a file manager and file transfer software packaged in one. My best feature is the intelligent scan that helps to detect duplicate files.
It cleans my phone even better than the xiaomi security app.

Google still remain the boss sha.

R.I.P. to other softwares that does similar things.
