One of the major reasons why the North is against the actualization of Biafra is mostly religious based and not political..
they feel that the jihads ( islamation of Nigeria will be more profound and glorious if the south east is part of the conquered territory and by their logic it is far more easier to conquer the Igbos if the south east remains in Nigeria than when they become a sovereign Nation

( With Biafra as a sovereign Nation, the Igbos can fully defend themselves against anyone and against anything but if they remain in Nigeria, such privilege is extremely limited)

The Yorubas on the other hand are resisting Biafra as a survival / political strategy rather than hate.
They know and understand that once Igbos ( the usual scapegoats) are out of the equation, whatever alliance they have with the North will crumble and they will be at the receiving end of the new political and regional reality.

Every tribal bigotry against the Igbos by the Yorubas especially from their leaders is nothing but a survival strategy. The needed to do it to prove their loyalty and in a more pathetic way secure their survival.

So whenever you see them especially their political and religious leaders starts expressing tribal bigotry towards the Igbos please don't take it personal. They needed to prove their loyalty to their masters.

What happened with KWAM 1 was the turning point. I said clearly that the President, Keyamo, and FAAN should take a firm stance, but the response was, “It’s KWAM 1,” and the matter was brushed aside.

Then came the incident with the girl who was stripped naked. Again, nothing happened. No consequences. No message that airport rules apply to everyone.

Now we’re seeing jobless internet personalities like VDM and Jollof behaving recklessly in spaces that should command order. These are people with no personal discipline bringing chaos into an aircraft, one of the worst places for any kind of altercation.

I’ve been to every continent and more than 35 countries, and I have never witnessed a fight inside a plane. This breakdown of discipline is happening because the government under Bola Tinubu keeps letting infractions slide. If KWAM 1 had been given a 12-month flight ban, nobody today would dare cause trouble onboard an aircraft. Consequences deter chaos.

Nigeria is about to host thousands of foreign visitors for Detty December. Is this really the image we want them to take home? An airport is federal territory, treat it as such. Fighting inside a public aircraft is not only disgraceful but a serious safety threat to every other passenger.

Keyamo should be sacked, because this is the 3rd time in less than 6 months.He is not capable of maintaining airport security. There has to be consequences.
Don't wait till people start shooting each other in the aircraft. If he had put in place enough deterrence in the first 2 instances, these 2 people would never have fought inside the aircraft.

The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, David Metcalf, has announced the sentencing of a Nigerian man, Imoleayo Samuel Aina, also known as “Alice Dave,” to six years in prison for his role in a devastating sextortion scheme that contributed to the death of a young man in Pennsylvania.

Aina, 27, was handed a 72-month prison term, five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $3,250 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Joel H. Slomsky. He pleaded guilty in May to cyberstalking, interstate threat to injure reputation, receiving proceeds of extortion, money laundering conspiracy, and wire fraud.

Aina and his co-defendant, Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, were arrested in Nigeria and taken into FBI custody on July 31, 2024, before being extradited to the United States. Both were indicted in August 2024, alongside a third Nigerian suspect, Afeez Olatunji Adewale,25

Abiodun, 26, pleaded guilty in December 2024 to money laundering conspiracy and wire fraud and was sentenced on June 10 to five years in prison. Adewale remains in Nigeria awaiting extradition.

“Aina was the driving force behind this sextortion scheme, which left a young man, and then his family, traumatized,” U.S. Attorney Metcalf said. “We can—and we will—find, prosecute, and hold accountable these insidious sextortionists who terrorize people for money.”

Wayne A. Jacobs, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, said the sentence underscores the grave harm caused by sextortion and the determination of U.S. authorities to pursue offenders everywhere. “Whether you are in the United States or operating from abroad, the FBI and our partners will relentlessly pursue you,” he said.

The case was investigated by the FBI and Abington Township Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Brown. U.S. officials acknowledged significant cooperation from Nigerian authorities, including the Attorney General of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Justice’s International Criminal Justice Cooperation Department, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Friday night ambushed a Nigerian military convoy in Borno State, abducting a serving general and killing several soldiers including members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), HumAngle is reporting.

The general reportedly kidnapped is a brigade commander and was said to be leading the troops.

If confirmed, the news platform, which specifically focuses on conflict and humanitarian crises, says “this would be the first recorded instance of any extremist group in Nigeria capturing a serving General directly from the frontline.”

Although insurgents have killed high ranking military officers as recently seen here, and here, news about abduction of such officers are rare.

Military authorities have not yet issued a statement on the incident, and details of casualty figures remain unclear.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Onyechi Anele, a lieutenant colonel, has not responded to an enquiry sent to her about the matter.

It is unfortunate that I am writing this with a heavy heart and broken spirit. Because Nairaland is becoming like an Animal Farm where other animals are treated more equal than others! If I may ask what are the criteria and protocols that is needed to push news and articles to the front page? in natural rule of life, it is "first come, first serve" but Nairaland is constantly trying to remind me of how a part is trying to represent a whole! yes a personified example of synecdoche in Nigeria context. We are quick to speak about how Nigeria and her institutions has failed but our one time darling Nairaland full of ecstasy and life has dwindled that if you want to define a failed state without equity and justice the analogy should be perfectly tailored and fit to it.

Severally, myself and many others will be the first to post a particular news but it will either not be made to the front page or will be flagged or censored! But some particular members will post it later and it will be given a lavender or red carpet welcoming salutations to the front page. Nairaland ought to be a personified example of equity and justice even in law when to rights exists the first preside or prevail but here we have selective flowers that bloom in the garden than others. Like today I posted an article on Wike backtracking and backpedaling that he did not mean to call Officer Yerima a fool the article was titled "Wike Makes U-turn Says He Never Meant to Call the Officer a Fool" around 9:16 am in the morning but did not make the headline or front page. However, when same article with the title "Wike Denies Calling Yerima A Fool" (Video) - By: Saphiere around 3:55 pm it made the front page this is totally condemnable. If at all there are some form of procedure and criteria for any news to be pushed to the front page it should be clearly spelt out to all members.

If actions are not taking and the owner of Nairaland Seun Osewa as well the two notable moderators: fergie001 and Mynd44 do not retrospect, change and walk the talk with immediate actions I am telling you should in case Nairaland have a strong competitor in the future that picture the visibility and viability of equity and justice then this forum will crash and as an ardent and a die hard fan and member of this forum it will hurt my soul and break my spirit. The Ondo State High Court in Akure has condemned to death by hanging one Dare Ojo, who raped and murdered an 11-year-old girl, Zainab Adeyemo, along Ese/Irun-Akoko Road, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.

The prosecution said Mr Ojo committed the offences on 17 July 2020, while conveying the deceased on his commercial motorcycle to the market at Irun-Akoko.

During the proceedings, the mother of the deceased narrated how the incident happened, saying she had called the defendant, who was a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly known as Okada, to take the late Zainab Adeyemo from Ese-Akoko to the market at Irun-Akoko.

But when she didn’t see Zainab, she contacted her colleagues at the market only to be told that they didn’t see her.

The victim’s parents were said to have contacted Mr Ojo, who took her away on his motorcycle, but he told them that he had dropped her off at the market.

A search party was therefore set up in the community, which eventually found Zainab’s dead body.

Handing down his verdict, the judge, Yemi Fasanmi, said that the accused was guilty of the charges based on findings of the pathologist from Federal Medical Centre, Owo, who carried out tests on the remains of the deceased.

He said the pathologist established that there was a struggle and the vagina of the deceased was forcefully penetrated.

Besides, the police investigator also told the court that the accused led him and some police to the scene of the incident in a bush.

The presiding judge, though admitting there was no witness account, relied on the Doctrine of Last Seen.

According to him, Mr Ojo was the last person who saw Zainab, as there was no other person who saw her after the accused took her away.

Kolawole Oluiwa, the counsel to the defendant, appealed to the court to be lenient with the accused.

When allowed to talk to the court, the defendant pleaded for mercy.

However, the court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment, having found him guilty of the first charge, rape, punishable under section 31(1), (2), and (3) of the Ondo State Child’s Right Law, 2007.

The court also sentenced the accused to death by hanging, having been found guilty of the murder punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, vol. 1, Laws of Ondo, 2006.

Speaking after the judgement, the defendant’s attorney appreciated the diligence of the court.

Speaking with journalists after the sitting, the prosecution attorney, Afolabi Bolanle, who is a director in the state Ministry of Justice, and the Administrative Secretary, Ondo State Agency Against Gender Based Violence(OSA-GBV), said all parties to the matter got justice.

I don't know why we keep supporting hypocrisy in this country without due diligence.The said land was located on a corridor in which someone bought to be used for a park/recreation centre,after some period of time the person that acquired the land reversed to use for commercial purpose in which the govt was against.He then began selling the land to people in which the CDO was among.In this case,the CDO was scammed instead of him to meet the seller, because he was a military person he brought his colleague to fight/secure the land
What is good for the goose is also good for the gander,the civilians that bought same land has theirs revoked,why is the ex military person exceptional in this case when he actually bought a wrong land
