Good evening "gentlemen officers" due to the deluge of questions about BMI, and other health related questions, I researched and found the following
1: BMI Body mass index ( BMI ) is a common tool for deciding whether a person has an appropriate body weight. It measures a person's weight in relation to their height.
A BMI of less than 18.5 means that a person is underweight. A BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9 is ideal. A BMI of between 25 and 29.9 is overweight. A BMI over 30 indicates obesity.
To calculate your BMI, divide your weight by your height twice. Eg 80÷1.87÷1.87=22.8
2: WHR A person's waist-hip measurement compares their waist size with that of their hips. People who have more body fat around their middle are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes . The higher the waist measurement in proportion to the hips, the greater the risk. For this reason, the waist-hip ratio (WHR) is a useful tool for calculating whether a person has a healthy weight and size.
Measure your waist-hip ratio 1. Measure around the waist in the narrowest part, usually just above the belly button. 2. Divide this measurement by the measurement around your hip at its widest part. If a person's waist is 28 inches and their hips are 36 inches, they will divide 28 by 36. This will give them 0.77.
How WHR affects the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is different for men and women, because they tend to have different body shapes.
In Men
Below 0.9: The risk of cardiovascular health problems is low. From 0.9 to 0.99: The risk is moderate. At 1.0 or over: The risk is high.
In Women
Below 0.8: The risk is low. From 0.8 to 0.89: The risk is moderate. At 0.9 or above: The risk is high.
3: WtHR
Waist-to-height ratio (WtHR) is another tool that might predict the risk of heart disease , diabetes, and overall mortality more effectively than BMI. A person whose waist measurement is less than half their height has a lower risk of a number of life-threatening health complications.
Measure your waist-to-height ratio To calculate the WtHR, a person should divide their waist size by their height. If the answer is 0.5 or less, the chances are that they have a healthy weight.
A woman who is 5 feet and 4 inches tall (163 cm), should have a waist measurement below 32 inches (81 cm). A man who is 6 feet or 183 centimeters (cm) tall, should have a waist measurement below 36 inches or 91 cm.
These measurements will give a WtHR of just under 0.5
007 Over and out.

Sorry guys I've been offline. Great great contributions on the Bp issue... I trust many like myself have gained.
There is one other medical stuff I'll like you guys to render help.. BMI... Not the regular I want to loose weight this, I want to drop kg that.
How can one add weight/kg..? You'll be surprised many people want to add weight.
I've someone who really needs this help. His weight is not complimenting his height. Last SSC course 45 screening, he was about 1.90m tall with just 62kg.... He had low BMI.
The issue is he doesn't like eating. Like he doesn't fancy food. But for his military passion, he has picked interest in eating. He's about 66kg now, but he needs more kg to get a good BMI.
So how can he add more kg....? Any help....?
God alone gives victory.. We'll be victorious. He should eat like rat or should i say like fowl. Joke apart I mean he should eat a lot but not at once. Maybe every 3 hours You see those fat people, u will notice they are always eating. Junks help too Secondly he should hit the gym to build muscles. Muscles add weight to the body too. Only thing is that he will have to minimize his jogging. Victory is from God alone. |

emeritus007: exercises are most effective when done in the evenings... towards the evening, your blood pressure begins to go down naturally to its minimum. in the morning it starts rising and peaking at midday(not 12 noon, abt 2pm). NB; Blood pressure is most accurate when measured in the morning. your exercise routine is okay... best of luck Thanks |

ugo4u: To add a quick one from my mom's experience. Zogale (Moringa) is extremely effective in crashing sugar and blood pressure. Sometimes in 2017 my mom went for a seminar on Moringa. And the key point she got from the meeting was the effectiveness of Moringa in crashing sugar, madam came back home and prepare Moringa juice instead of taking it once in a while she was taking A cup twice a day (morning / night) and within 5days she fell so ill that we had to rush her to the hospital and immediately doctors ran test on her it was discovered that her sugar had crashed to a dangerously low level, even her BP was very low. Immediately we were told to buy Coke, na so the woman begin drink sweet things anyhow, even sugarcane, honey, sweet etc just to take things back to normal level. Later we discovered that she took too much of the mixture (Zogale) and that was responsible for her low sugar and low blood pressure; they even said low BP is more dangerous than high BP. In conclusion and to juxtapose what KODAC had said earlier and I think taking Zogale(Moringa) sensibly can help reduce High BP and High Sugar. I stand to be corrected though. You are very correct. Moringa helps reduce sugar level but apart from that, it's nutritious and it is also good for joint inflammation (arthritis) for those of you that might injure your knee because of severe jogging. I usually eat 3 seeds a day and sometimes boil the leaf and use the water to make tea. Secondly you are correct again. Low sugar level is worse than high sugar level. Very dangerous |

KODACK: This been said....... I have a simple question for all of you.... Be kind enough to truthfully answer this Question.... God is watching liers.
TOTAL gave you a job and asked you to resume next week Monday 8am...with the below details; 1. 24 million per annum (basic salary minus allowance and bonuses) 2. 13th month pay 3. Expense free vacation for you and your family 4. Contract span 20years 5. Hmo, insurance, assurance benefits with constant promotion 6. Sponsorship for two wards education abroad
Nigerian Army said you should resume that same Monday by 9am, without screening,no training nothing...... You will hang two star n 5 year promotion, with all the usual basics an officer deserves.
Don't lie, which one will you resume to.... TOTAL or NIGERIAN ARMY Honestly the only place I can work without thinking of leaving is the military. Even d small job I have now, I've already started my own side business planning to leave one day. You need to see me when our national anthem is being played or sang. I always have goose bumps. If I don't get to serve in the military, I will play ball (I'm old for that though), probably start representing Nigeria in martial art, be a politician etc I must wear our flag on my chest with pride I want to one day be told "thank you for your service" |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Boyka007(m): 12:11pm On Sep 13, 2019 |
KODACK: Firstly, don't take drugs to suppress your BP....... Its harmful to your kidney, liver and bladder..........trust me, abstain from that.
Am currently working on my BMI, I know a couple of drugs I can take that will over beat the BMI standard but the after effects is disastrous........ Before I go to work,I skip ropes 400 times.....after work I skip 400 times....even more when I have the strength........... For the last 3 weeks I stopped taking carbonated drink(coke etc), no starchy food.....my new meal comprise of beans, egg, wheat, brown sugar/honey, vegetable soup with lots of obstacles in it, and fruits...and I sleep wella... I have dropped over 5kg since then..... without drugs, even I still do have temptation to take .
Now, back to your question.........
THIS IS HOW TO BEAT YOUR BP RANGE TO NORMAL.
1. drink lots of water. 2. Avoid pepperish food 3. Sleep well 4. Listen to cool music 5. Take a hike, soft one....not quick 6. Engage in turgid exercise but for a short time 7. Do breathing exercises for atleast 5 minutes...morn,after, night 8. Take fruits and vegetables 9. If you have a girl, flog her once in a while......not three times daily oh....once in three/two days ( this has effectively dropped bp of men within the range of 30-50 through research and those I have treated).....don't cheat, and remember...AIDS is real. 10 avoid quarrel, fight, argument 11. When you think too much(which is not avoidable) ...end it with thoughts of how far God has brought you (you are not sleeping under bridge e.t.c) or think of your crush...or see your self counting cash, not as a banker ..but your own real cash .
12. Lastly.....have this at the back of your mind... FOR ALL THE STRUGGLE YOU ENGAGE IN TO MAKE IT IN THIS LIFE, YOU WILL END UP SIX FEET BELOW.....SO WHY WORRY.
calm down....and have fun
NB: no BEER/GIN !!!!!!!!!!, Go for red wine (900-1500) and apple instead
Cheers Nice one. I no no say u sabi book like dis o |

sampet555: Blood Pressure (BP), as minute as it might seem, is very very important as far as our health and Nigeria military is concerned. BP disqualifies most people. Half of disqualified candidates at the last screening was as a result of high BP.
Then you'll begin to wonder, as a youth, what possibly could cause high BP.... You get back home and straight to the clinic to check your BP only to discover your BP is superbly normal... Then different thoughts will begin to fly in your head, like 'the medical personnels are incompetent', 'army just want to disqualify people, it's not a true reflection', 'village people' and so on.
But let me tell you one major cause, it's anxiety. Anxiety raises BP. Anxiety is your number one enemy in on NDA soil. Learn to fight it.
People with more Knowledge on this, please help us shed more light. Let's talk on how to fight it.
Kodack Shobroy10 Ugo4u
Please put mouth sirs....
Medical doctors in the house please contribute.
You can't use suppressants, it would be detected.
SSC people mostly it's good to take in water and probably try taking a deep breath. Helps with anxiety When my mum died I almost fainted. Doctor quickly gave me a bottle of water to drink and asked me to take a deep breath. I believe as long as you don't have BP as a sickness and it's just out of anxiety or shock, it's controllable |
