[quote author=jieta post=104375583]I'm more concern about the chua chua part, we keep complaining about corruption and we're the corruption personified.
How we find it difficult to do well with our salary is something i find difficult to understand. More than 200 thousand a month you'll still look for chua chua, and you come online to lament about corruption in public places.
About two months back my wife went to the south to spend sometime with my mom. She went to one of this central hospital to give my baby immunization on reaching there she was ask to pay four hundred naira, two hundred for the card and another two hundred for the injection. But when she was here i just give her one hundred for transport then the rest is free. After all this kickback you'll still come on line to lament bad government, are the government really bad or the citizen? Not that am complaining about the four hundred it's nothing. But if you're getting this kickback you should use it to make the place look good.
Some of this hospital if you go there, they are no bed space, even buying of diesel to run the hospital should not be a big deal with all this kickback.
Yesterday, i was reading a thread about why northerners don't look for job after graduation, but i tell you my fellow Southerners there do look for job, but most after graduation some go into farming, others go into manial businesses and there ok! Contentment is there watch word. But there are also the elite and few others who work in big organization too. But life is generally easy and not the way we portray it on nairaland.
This chua chua of a thing is what is holding us back not government Thank you for honest response, but bn in the system too, if hospitals are properly funded and well staffed. I think Chua chua will not exist. Chua chua is a northern Nigeria term, and corruption is endemic in Nigeria. Even in the north most of The LGA offices open month end to disburse money and close back. If hospitals are adequately state a nurse won't be any business collecting money for any thing |

olatade: Temitope Balogun Joshua, a frontline Nigerian preacher and televangelist, has died, family sources told Peoples Gazette.
Mr Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), died in Lagos on Saturday evening shortly after concluding a programme at his church, The Gazette learnt from family sources who did not want to be quoted as an official statement was still being prepared, said. He was 57.
The cause of death was not immediately disclosed to The Gazette, but family sources said his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy would be performed forthwith.
Mr Joshua reigned for several decades as a fiery preacher on television, using his platform to attract a large number of Christians from across the world.
In 2014, his church was at the centre of a multi-national investigation following a section of his church headquarters in Lagos collapsed, leaving dozens killed and many more injured.
Mr Joshua denied allegations of negligence and a trial over the incident was still underway prior to his demise.

ivandragon: That is not the issue...
The issue is the purchasing power of the masses.
Bread may cost #1000, but when the purchasing power of citizens is fairly high, it won't be an issue.
During pmb's first coming as a dictator, bread was about 50kobo-70kobo, but it could be barely afforded. In 2002, average price of bread rose to about #50-#70, but it could be afforded.
The period you pointed out saw an increase of over 300%, but people could generally afford.
So it's not just a function of the actual increase in price, it is also has to do with how the government has so mismanaged the economy that generality of the masses are finding it hard to meet up with daily expenses. Agreeded.... The new minimum wage is no longer viable |

chrisblack: let us be true to ourselves. Many states don't need the numbers of workers on its payroll. We can never develop as a country when 85% of some states revenue is used in paying salaries of less than2% of the population. It makes not sense. Many of the civil servants are redundant. In so department you would see 5people doing the work of 1 person. It also like that at the federal where due to tribal sentiments they have loaded it with there people. With technology we don't need bulky civil service. More funds should be made available for stimulating the economy through provision of grants, infrastructure , Agricultural support etc that would help the entire populace. There should be a law that stipulate 65 to 35% in terms in favour of capital to recurrent cost. And that all employment must be shared across all nooks and crannies of a state evenly. If only 2% is a states workforce, then the state is in a huge trouble... Direct ur energy to population control instead |
