EgunMogaji:
A question for the seasoned builders.

Can one build pillars all the way from blinding to final height (ring beam) at once on a bungalow?

Thanks.
You mean if you can actually build like this. Very possible!

Saving cost of Sandfilling. The ground floor is replaced with precast slabs which are placed on connected beams.

Seen it before.

EgunMogaji:
More or less?

But most importantly "what is the going rate"?

Thanks.
More. Going rate or cost? I have no idea.

You must have gotten some fillings from the septic tank.

My bad sir! It has been a while I heard that word "laterite".

However, 150 tons of laterite cannot fill that structure.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by brabus(m): 4:21am On Sep 30, 2015
EgunMogaji:
Anyways my people e be say I go need like 150 tons of laterite (rough calculation), how much is the going rate?

Gracias.
150tons? Na only granite you wan use build the house?

Let's agree 60 tons will go into your DPC cos it's a football pitch and 8inch thick. Where will the remaining 90 tons be used? Columns, Lintels, Roof and maybe the compound?

I'm sure you can't do concrete septic tank in that terrain without the use of mechanized equipment.

Just asking sha not probing.

what's your take on using 6" hollow blocks for foundation? what's your take on using 6"by 6" pillars for a bungalow?what's your take on foundation depth especially for Abuja and neighbouring states given the high clay content in their soils? I'll explain later. thanks in advance.
I've seen this done before without any issue. Though, a lot of supporting columns were introduced into the build.

Yeah...I was at the exhibition today and it was okay. I didn't bother attending the seminars and panel sessions cos I didn't pay but the topics they are to cover seem quite enriching. Maybe next year I will afford it. Please any one in the house who attended and has materials should share.
Good to hear your testimony. E-copy of the keynote speeches, lectures and the seminar will be made available after the conference. If I can lay my hand on them, I'll definitely share with the house.

The exhibitor that interest me most is Clifton Homes (a Ghana based real estate firm) and their product The Gallery which was awarded the "Best Apartments in Africa" by the International Property Awards 2014/15.

Then "NYOOGO" providing modern marketing platform to drive real estate business. The platform seems to be very interesting.

I cannot but notice the trendy solutions that gidi virtual tours is bringing to the market.

Today, I went into the programme with just 30 business cards and had none left by the time I was leaving the Exhibition Hall. Tomorrow, I'll go with a pack especially during the Networking Breakout/Media Session.

I really like this. This is a classic.
It's actually a very valid point but what's frustrating is when as a designer or builder you can’t convince clients that doing good work takes time and time costs money. Fast job is not always good. Cheap jobs assures fast delivery and eliminates good result. Good job requires time and money.

We can only pick one choice.
