Isomerizm: I didn't state just his self-appraisal. There's a point where the author, an omniscient, tells us Jaime would beat Sandor and Gregor, and a few other personalities, with his speed and skill.
I'm sure Sandor and Gregor would hold their own against Qhorin, if not beat him. did the author now? From whose POV? Did that POV factor nightswatch legends into that assessment? Tell me, do you think Mance raider, benjen stark, beor mormont among others as good fighters and/or good assessor of fighting prowess? What was their opinion of the halfhand? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by BraniacX(m): 7:30pm On May 06, 2019 |
Isomerizm: I never read about Qhorin. But there's a portion of ASOS where we learn Jaime can beat Gregor and Sandor, with his speed and skill. And where he, himself, says there are only three people in the seven kingdoms who will stand a chance against him, but can't beat him. No names are mentioned, but I surmise the three people to be Sandor, Gregor, and Selmy. is his self appraisal what we want to go by? Qhorin was a very skilled and fast fighter/ranger and better still, a very good assessor of people's characters, temperament and potentials in brief observation, In my opinion, Jamie would have held his own against qhorin but only for a short time |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by BraniacX(m): 6:46pm On May 06, 2019 |
Isomerizm: Is book Qhorin better than book Jaime? Or just preference? I thought only three people, post-Dayne and post-rebellion stood a chance against Jaime. Selmy, The Hound and The Mountain. But he'd still beat them. according to who? Qhorin wasn't only good, he was tenacious, he fought through his maiming to earn his sobriquet, can't say same for Jamie can you? |

BRAINZBox: You misunderstand King Robert..
He loved Lyana so much, he was the only lady he loved. He would have been a wonderful husband to her. The few times he talks about her, he is solemn.
His whoring and drinking came as a result of sorrow and depression from Lyana's death. on the show, not in the books |

HanksAnuku: I don't really put much stock in the opinions of the characters because many characters on the show have been proven to be wrong on their opinions
Factually speaking, Jon is the least skilled fighter on that list and has never been able to solo a known fighter without interventionm jon survived the thenn at castle black and he survived qhorin half hand even though ghost helped and i will take the halfhand over a two handed Jamie anyday! Jon knows how to hold his own, twice he has bested generals of the others so how is it you say he can't hold his own against trained fighters? |

BRAINZBox: You see, when they tell you people it's not easy... You all just scream lazy writing up and down as if there are any fantasy without some loopholes.
This your "script" is actually terrible... Too many loopholes.... Make I turn am to basket now...
1.. Arya jumps in for the stab ::: You have not solved the issue, people have been disturbing about oh. How did she get to "jump in", did she disappear past the white walkers and jump in from air or Ravens carried her as one funny guy illustrated ?
2.. Which hand the night king go take "slap" dagger. One hand is holding Arya's neck the other is holding her left hand. Na him tongue he go use abi... Try watch that place again. Na wrestling them dey fight ?
3.. If "amazingly" Arya dodges NK's sword like you said but could not get her dagger (The "all powerful" NK holds somebody and cannot cut the person with his sword, na wao) . I am sure NK will drop his sword and say let's do like "vuga".... Let's fight hand to hand...
Or will Arya fight NK without weapon and NK will not be able to kill her with his sword... Remember Theon even had a spear thingy ?
How can Arya without weapon survive NK who has weapon. Maybe Arya will " slap" his sword too...
4.. Viseron go just say, oyah Jon nor worry I won't spit fire again. Go and save your fine sister.... How else will Jon get pass Viseryon sir ?
5.. So, Jon with broken sword arm (most likely his right hand) and stab wound according to your script, will hold night king two hand (like say Jon don turn SARS officer), While Arya dey struggle up come stab am ?
6.. MOST IMPORTANTLY ::::: All this while, the remaining night walkers must have formed a circle around NK and Arya and be shouting "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" and when Jon comes to help they give him chance to pass. Then resume "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT"
There are so many more.... Make I rest here sha...
Others can spot more.... ah! So you noticed too, dude let his imagination go to sleep while scripting, the programming for spatial interplay and timing was missing from his imagination software and he ended up scripting a good joke Like i intimated with him, the script was epic viewed through a purple haze, or white haze or whatever the source of the high is |

GRIMMJOE: This is is how the Night King should have been defeated
NOTE: I'm not trying to put down the show or anything **clears throat**
The night king approaches Bran about to kill him,Arya jumps in for a stab, before she could catch the dagger,in mid air the NK slaps it away, swings his sword but she manages to slip through, trys to reach the dagger but he's in the way, And here we see something we've never seen before, she goes hand to hand with the NK confident, but was beating to a pulp, broken bones, torn flesh ,still trying to get to the dagger, dragging herself on her stomach, now the NK has a clear shot to end this futile resistance. Here Jon intervenes, knowing how good a fighter he is,exchanges clash with the Nk,over powers him and goes straight for the kill, unexpectly the Nk uses his left arm to block the stab which we see begins to turn ice,in anticipation all waiting for him to explode.
But suddenly his eyes glowed brighter than before,Jon in fear quickly picks up a wooden shield which was punched through rendering his sword arm broken and useless. Arya and Jon at their limit,Jon gave Arya a stare, which spells out he now knows what he has to sacrifice, charges towards the night king only to be stabbed, about to hit the floor, but bravely held the night king hands along with his sword and shouted "NOW!!!"
Arya pulling her self up with the dagger in her hand reaching for the Nk.At this point the NK realizes he's going to die, quickly summons Viseron, knowing he's immune to fire intends burning everyone along with his walkers. Viseron breathing out fire but pushed out of the way by Daenerys on Drogon, and finally Arya stabs him,but just before he explodes he whispers "This Name shall be on your list", and we can see the shock in Arya's face. At the round table meeting after the battle,Jon in curiosity asked Arya "what name?who?"
... she replied " Bran "

Isomerizm: For someone who is so obsessed with the Iron Throne, staying put on said island would be similar to postponing the inevitable.
Without her, and her army, and her dragons, Winterfell would have lost that war, aggrandising TNK's army. Losing Jon, the only other person who can ride a dragon, in the process. Many other potential allies would be lost, too.
TNK would have comfortably moved to wherever in the Seven kingdoms with his army, conquering them with ease. Further, enlarging his army.
Now, The Dany we know wouldn't just sit on an island. She has been obsessed with the Iron Throne since like forever. She'd have to leave her comfort zone to fight for The Throne. This would eternally result in her fighting for the survival she thought she'd bypassed. now you're just confusing yourself Which Danny do you know? and do you also know her advisors varys and tyrion? And when and how would she have known that Jon can ride a dragon? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by BraniacX(m): 12:27am On May 02, 2019 |
Isomerizm: I'm not discrediting her selflessness in the Battle of Winterfell. I'm only saying, in retrospect to the pre-battle periods, when we, the audience, cum the characters thought it was over for mankind, and everyone felt they had to fight for survival because of the supposed menace TNK posed. That by fighting for Winterfell, she was actually fighting for survival, too.
Now, I'm asking, if this selfless act of hers, together with the fact that Sansa contributed nothing to the victory, deprives Sansa of the right to fight for the North's sovereignty. i think the sansa Danny convo should have settled that, the north follows leadership ensconced in duty and honor, this battle has given the north both from Danny but more importantly Danny admitted that her love for Jon played a large part in her decision |

JulietteO: They'd be wiped out alright and winterfell would have fallen, the army of the dead would have increased by the thousands, if not millions and would have taken on her army five to one. As someone said, Dany fought for survival. Good evening danny was on dragonstone and wights can't swim so what was the point of fighting for the north when she could have allowed them wipe out the north, march south to kingslanding and wipe out cersei and her minions then she could have swooped in and dracarys 'em all, so tell me the logic in your argument again |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by BraniacX(m): 12:06am On May 02, 2019 |
Isomerizm: Was there a pre-signed treaty that, when the war finally passed over, Sansa would hand over the North to her, or would be divested of the right to fight for the North's sovereignty?
It wasn't even as if the war was against the North. It was against the living. The North just happened to be the initial war zone, so consequently, Dany fought for survival, not essentially for the North your logic is warped, so who was cersei fighting for? Or wasn't she part of the living too? Even Sansa acknowledged that from Danny's perspective the iron throne was the goal, so if Danny can sacrifice her goal not for life but for the north (that the living get to benefit from this sacrifice is besides the point) why can't Sansa who worshipped her mother's God's and was always southern at heart not sacrifice her goal? |

HanksAnuku: So Sansa's mum is not a fighter? Abi you didn't see Catelyn stark threatening niggas, fighting assassins and slitting throats on this same show.
Stop making excuses bro. Accept her uselessness. Sansa already did. putting things in perspective, bear islanders practice gender equality in combat terms so male and female both qualify as warriors, same applies to targayreans and wildlings and to a lesser extent the ruling houses of the iron islands and dorne so Lyana mormont's mom I think maege mormont was a warrior who either died at the red wedding or is somewhere in the neck looking for greywater watch depending on whether it is the books or the show you are referencing, Catherine stark never fought in battle and as such wasn't a warrior |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by BraniacX(m): 11:05pm On May 01, 2019 |
HanksAnuku: Well, that is kind of the point. Up until hardhome, Valyrian steel was nothing more than rare resource from an extinct city. It was at hardhome where we saw it could break whitewalker ice swords.
Prior to that, Valyrian steel wasn't piercing or breaking other steel artefacts like that.
Case in point, Jamie Lannister fighting Ned Stark in season 1. Only Ned had a Valyrian steel sword in that battle, and it was not shown to have any other special abilities when used against other metals.
NK possibly has some metal workers in his retinue - it might explain where the chains came from, and how the previously shirtless whitewalker goons rolled up to winterfell clad in armour.
If he could come back, maybe he should do what you said up there, and get a refund ned wasn't fighting Jamie with ice, starks dont take ice into battle, it was used for execution and ceremonial purposes |

ABSTRUSE: At the end of Season 7, episode 1, when the wall was brought down by the NK, we saw more than one giant. I'm just surprised the directors didn't avert their minds to this. Despite the many giants, we only saw one in Season 8 Episode 3. I mean can someone explain that part to me? casualties of the dothoraki charge I guess |

Isomerizm: So, Sansa has been stripped of the right to fight for the North's sovereignty, simply because Dany fought for survival? if the North's honor was ever worth a roll of tissue paper then yes, the sacrifices made by Danny earned her Sansa's loyalty in the least, her love and undying fealty would be more appropriate, remember even if Danny made that deal with her, cersei never would and logic simply has the north unable to protect even winterfell much less itself after this battle, Danny has fulfilled the contractual part of a liege lord to his liege, to protect and defend, need anymore be said? |

So much for dramatics. not true, with bran in s08e02 we finally got to decipher the psyche of the night king after 8 years and it was on that basis they made their battle plans, to the best of the night king's knowledge, he was executing the perfectly logical plan you just laid out having reanimated the dead who fell against his horde who else was left to fight? You spear one, and the 3 others rush you and stab you. factor in terms of numbers, the Spartans vs Darius's army at Thermopylae, Alexander vs king Cyrus Persian mega armies in Lebanon and Mesopotamia, a phalanx is so designed to take on armies multiple times its number from a defensible positions devoid of spaces for potential flanking maneuvers, so the unsullied were the army best suited to fight the wights but there just wasn't enough of them and the undead were unfeeling and uncaring like you pointed out |

Would be interesting/heartbreaking to see which of the Targaryens would survive -- Dany or Jonny boy? Or...gasp.. none?
Would be interesting to see which of the dragons would survive, if any. Thought Rhaegal was dead but saw two dragons flying above King's landing in next week's snippet. Except Khalessi ordered for refurbished via eBay, I'm guessing one should be Rhaegal.

Virus99: The Battle of Winterfell should have been easily won if...
The entire force stood within the wall of Winterfell and then attack the Deads with Oil, Fire and a whole lot of flaming arrows.
The Dothraki were really dumb... How can you charge at an enemy that you can't see, estimate, or carefully studied? You just charge up with flaming sword screaming...only to swear the ranks of the NK. Mtcheeew
The Unsullied were dumber. As in really dumber. It is a Close Quarter Battle CQB... Why go with those long spears that can't be easily maneuvered? Can't they have that kind of detachable spear Arya had ?
And then there were really no Archers on the wall... Not until the Deads started climbing the walls before they all start to go man the wall! As in, who does that? Where the fvck were you all thinking
And then the worst of all... Knowing that the NK usually raise dead people to join his rank, the should have made sure to attack them from a distance with a whole lot of flaming arrows, flaming catapults, Oils and all that.
Anyways... It is just a movie. They wanna make it interesting.
But in real life scenerio... Lol giving that amount of force them Jon Snow had... I will fvck the NK real quick. seriously the wisdom some people claim to have is disappointing especially when they come to profess it publicly! The unsullied are a traditional phalanx legion, same type Alexander of Macedonia conquered the world with in a few years, in a chess board your phalanx would be your queen, deadly attack, compact defense, in the annals of the show, a smaller unsullied army mauled into submission a massive dotharaki army at qohor! If the unsullied were not the untypical (fearless) phalanx they were protecting the retreat into the castle, if they were any other typical westerosi or essosian army, nobody would have been able to retreat behind the wall as they would have been swarmed and swamped at first charge |

If it wasn't Jon's destiny, why bother us with tales of the long light, Lord of Light, Azor ahai, prince that was promised whose song is be that of ice and fire. Why did Rhaegar dump Elia for Lyanna to conceive Jon if Arya was going to kill NK all along. or maybe it is because prophecy isn't literal |
