Politics / Lagos Approves Flyover Bridges For Ajah, Abule Egba by BRAV0O(m): 10:55am On Dec 14, 2015
...Repairs 300 Roads Across The State In Six Months
The Lagos State Government has approved the construction of flyover bridges for two of the state’s high-density traffic zones - Ajah roundabout and Abule Egba junction.
The two major projects were approved by the State’s Executive Council and have been duly awarded to contractors for a speedy commencement of work.

In a statement yesterday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the projects will be completed within 16 months as part of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s ongoing road infrastructure projects across the state.

The statement said the construction of the reinforced concrete flyover and signalised intersection at Ajah roundabout will be undertaken simultaneously with the rehabilitation of Freedom Road in Lekki, with a view to reducing the heavy traffic being recorded at the Ajah round-about and the Lekki-Ikoyi axis.

Ayorinde said the Ajah flyover bridge would have a solar-powered signalised intersection in order to greatly improve traffic, while the upgrade of Freedom Road is expected to ease traffic considerably for vehicles using the Third Roundabout to connect Lekki through Admiralty way.

While the Ajah project will ease movement of residents and commuters on the Lagos Island-Ibeju Lekki areas, the construction of the reinforced concrete dual-carriage flyover bridge at Abule Egba junction will equally bring joy and relief to millions of commuters that use the Lagos -Abeokuta Expressway in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of the State on a daily basis when completed.

Like the Ajah project, Ayorinde said the Abule Egba flyover bridge will also have signalised intersection under it to service Oko-Oba and other link roads within the axis.

To underscore its commitment to road infrastructure development that seeks to touch every area of the State that may have been inadvertently left behind, Ayorinde said that the state government has also awarded contracts for the rehabilitation and upgrade of strategic arterial/inner roads in Epe Local Government Area of the state.

While noting that Epe division of the state is currently undergoing rapid industrial and commercial growth arising from the commencement of developmental projects such as oil refinery, air and sea ports as well as citing of various industries within the Lekki Free Trade Zones (LFTZ), the commissioner said a massive upgrade of strategic roads within the Epe division had become necessary.

According to him, some of the areas to be rehabilitated and upgraded in Epe include Lagos Road, Prof. Agbalajobi Road, Awolowo Road (Marine Police/Oke Oyinbo - Hamarun); as well as network of roads in Oloja Estate, Araga Road and Oke Osho junction –Itokin, among others.

The commissioner said the newly awarded road contracts are coming on the heels of several other projects being constructed by the Ambode administration through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, some of which are either completed or nearing completion.

He listed areas such as Brown Street in Oshodi, Ago Palace Way in Okota as well as Okota-Century road, Ijegun -Igando Road, Ayobo-Ipaja Road, Okesuna Street, Shomolu and Coker-Aguda Road in Surulere, as among projects at various stages of advance work.
He said as at last weekend, more than 300 roads have been repaired and rehabilitated through the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC)’s ceaseless road maintenance that has left no local government area unattended to.
In line with the government’s zero tolerance for potholes, Ayorinde said another hundred roads have been earmarked for repairs before the new year to underscore Governor Ambode’s top priority to ensure motorable roads and infrastructural development across the state.

Lalasticlala there are plenty bad news about nigeria on this forum pls kindly promote good news like small.

lier and thrash ... it was about the price of fuel if it is removed . note that Nigerians are better of economically then compared to now . its all about pulling Gej govt down because of where he comes from . Nigerians play tribal politics . I remember arguing with some people then who insisted that fuel subsidy has to stay to avoid mass suffering due to high fuel price .
thrash! It is not only about the price the price hike is just only part of the reason many protest " and it doesn't matter if you agree with me or not, that those protest played tribal politics is only ur opinion my brother! Peace

Stop letting ur sentiments confuse your sense of judgement and history. I suppose all the NLC strikes and protests that greeted Nigeria for days whenever OBJ topped pump prices by N10, in your wisdom all those protests were also incited by APC?....

A government announces it would remove subsidy in April, but turns around to remove it suddenly in January 1st and forcing pump prices to jump from N65 to over N140, and some humans actually think it was APC (which wasnt even born by 2012) that pushed multitudes of people to the streets?

A government opens its mouth and tells Nigerians that over 70% of the subsidy payments is stolen by a powerful cabal (which is made up of less than 50 people), and that since it cant punish the cabal, it was going to remove subsidy and punish 160million people instead. Nigerians take to the streets and here we are, some smart people in 2015 claim it was APC which was born in 2013 that forced Nigerians into the streets in protest in 2012?

We really need a psychological revival in Nigeria.

What was the standard allegation against it? Was it not the subsidy removal that led to the #ocupynigeria protest? Please tell yourself the truth, is it sane to be against it then and to support it now without admitting it was a good idea all along?
okay nau, you'll can rain cause and abuse like I care ? Fuel subsidy removal back then in 2012 was Gej initiative truly and what if gej go about it a normal or reputable way nigeria would have applaud him then but ask me what was gej plan to announce that kind of action on Jan 1st, is it not to kick out previous subsidy and initiate his own types of subsidy, I beg many of u to try watch all gej campaign through the whole protest if he really mean well for nigeria' even up till now nigerians can still throw tantrum on any govt that will want do it but majority of us may support it now cus we'll suffered already! It still won't make gej to be saint he's a thief.

Are we not in hardship now? And that excuse of not trusting GEJ is a shameful excuse. The opposition party then, used people like you to get to power and now doing things they condemned the last govt for. You see yourselves?
I hope those musicians that was entertaining the protesters then are still alive to entertaining again.
I don't really like quoting you to tell you all this cause you're not making any point here except to justify your thiefing gej and his caboons' or tell me what's the essence of you bringing the previous subsidy protest into this ? Where as those that against the removal then have a standard allegation against it , I repeat! If APC embark on removing the fuel subsidy now is highly welcome and that will not make any sane nigerian to even think twice of seeing gej as the messiah

Hypocrisy of Nigerians stinks to the heavens. I see many people on this thread are less concerned how much fuel is sold in the event that subsidy is removed.
Wasn't this the same move that Jonathan wanted to make in 2012 that majority of Nigerians stood vehemently against it? Where are the 'OCCUPY NIGERIA' folks? When it comes to Buhari's policies, some Nigerians send their brain on holiday & swallow anything presented.
believe me I hate to quote you even as am typing this I may regret even quoting u later but pls kindly be informed that nigerians occupy the street in the protest of fuel subsidy removal during gej tenure is not because nigerians were against it! NO! Maybe u need to tune back ur tv to various news then pls get ur fact right majority of the protester even support the removal of the so called subsidy but they all av no other choice than to protest against it cus of jonathan fraud way of going about it and nigerians are not well equip or prepare for any hardship it will caused! Ehen don't be so shallow!
