How many of the opposition do we have today that is able to pause their ambition for decades so they can build a party first? Not Obi or Atiku, because the two of them run to a new party at every little challenge. Build a political party from scratch - they can't and won't. Restructure and fortify an existing party - they can't and won't.

Tinubu had his eyes on the presidency and if he had supported Atiku and Atiku wins the presidency, it will be difficult for Tinubu to convince Atiku to do a tenure and then leave the office for him to become President. So it was best for Tinubu to support a failed Buhari whom will be easy to takeover from than an Atiku who would have been too powerful to ask to step aside for Tinubu to be president in 2023.
