He said the software they use is called 2D and 3D ask other architects how that software works. Confirm whether or not it's true the software automatically generates an elevation for a floor plan.

2) Whether or not the software can not generate multiple elevations for each floor plan, in other words, an alternative designs. Does it just generate only one design for a given floor plan, and the clients are stuck with that design when they don't like it?

3) What's the implication to the long-term durability of the building when they try to manipulate the system to give a client the elevation they want?

Yes, it does generate elevation for a given floor plan, for each specific floor plan an elevation is generated, it won't generate multiple elevations for one floor plan.

Yes it is called a 2D and 3D software, however a good architect should be able to design the facade or elevation to look amazing and pleasing if and if only the client supplied the floor plan and would not want any changes made to it.

In a case that the floor plan was designed by the architect, it would be best for the architect to make changes to the floor plan until client is pleased with the elevation, however that depends on the agreement reached, the architect might require additional fees to make the changes.

The long term durability is achievable for a face-lift, decoration or renovation, i would rather not say "manipulate the system" the structural system shouldn't be Manipulated to avoid stories that touch, however you can adorn the facade, and make it grand.

On nairaland, I have come to understand how bitter the tribal hatred is in Nigeria. The front we have 2 steps. The higher the DPC the more steps to climb it and it will block the entrance. Remember it's a block of flats. And the site is 50/100. The site sand is also laterite and not mud.

The site is draining towards the entrance and the engineer said what is needed is cut and dress. There is a natural gradient already.

30 tons should be 30 tons anywhere, anytime.
The issue is this, complete 30 tons can only be delivered by a trailer, most atimes, accessibility to sites is usually an issue considering turning radius and the strength of the soil to be able to allow a trailer to deliver.
So what those vendors do is they promise you 30tons and end up coming with 25-27 tons knowing fully well that a trailer can't access your site. So they come with a double axle truck. That way they make extra profit.

If you really want to know about this, request for waybill before they offload the material at your site.

The waybill usually contains information like
Quantity of material in tons or kg
Size/grade of material
Number plate of the vehicle
Time of departure from the company.
Note: this is if you are buying direct from the company.

Before we started, we bought 4 trips of 30 tons size four granite down. When engineer arrived to start work, the first thing he said was that he can never use size four granite for foundation. We had to immediately make arrangement for another 3 trips of size 5 granite. The size four was later used for the two stages of deckings. Building is a journey, many thing will happen right from start. A lot of reserves must be kept standby.

true, people should also know that there are two types of 30 tons, the one that is filled to the brim but then leveled or flattened another one is the type filled and overfilled to have a mountain top like shape.

I saw a post where somebody was complaining about the size of a 30 ton granite.

Hello people on the forum. I started earlier this year 6 blocks of 2 and 3 bedrooms. I hired an architect. Did the drawing. Paid all necessary dues to authorities and I kicked off. I have met some challenges but it's going. I am not the type that put myself out their so much or post what I am doing but I think I will at this stage because I am confused.

NB : I do not live in Nigeria and My relatives are handling the project while I pay the builder who happens to be an architect with experience. We agreed on all labour cost.

I contacted a guy named Arinze (from nairaland) for bill of quantities but in 2021. At the moment the bill of quantities just looks like its not useful. Because a lot doesn't align with what the builder mentioned.

this is Nigeria, many factors comes into place when e reach to buy materials, don't blame the Qs, because he is not the one buying it, rather endure and pray you don't see more than you can bear. More grace.
