Hi, I started studying in Heidelberg, Germany and I'm searching for Nigerians studying around Heidelberg or Mannheim area in Germany. Just want to connect with fellow Nigerians here. |
johnydon22:I like to believe that there is life after death. It is easy to convince myself that such exist, simply because I want to live after I die. Hence, I can easily ignore every evidence against it and focus on evidence that suggest that life after death is real. However, I'm glad to see that some persons can reason objectively about this. Like @johnydon22, I want to LIVE NOW. I'm not going to wait for an afterlife to start living. I would do my best to "inherit" the afterlife, if it ends up being real. But in the meantime, I would live in the moment. |
Both of them are true. Need proof? Because it is obvious to me. |
While I agree with the OP that the act is bad, I believe the reasons given above are completely wrong scientifically, biologically, physiologically, psychologically or otherwise. It is OK to deter people from doing things you believe are wrong, but you must not scare them with the wrong reasons. |
What kind of help do you need? Start from these free online tutorials. Perhaps when you have specific questions you would receive good answers from this forum. http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ http://www.tutorialspoint.com/cplusplus/ |
If you have enough bandwidth, you can install the Visual Studio Community Edition which is the free version of VS: http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/free-developer-offers-vs.aspx As far as I can tell, it contains most features of VS Pro so it should be good enough for your learning purposes. |
I'm sorry for going off-topic but I wonder why Mo keeps interrupting Mr. President. She should just let him talk. Her frequent "yes, yes..." and interruptions are annoying! I expected her to be a seasoned interviewer. |

musKeeto: To be a man after God's own heart is to be a zombie.. If God orders you to kill people because of a long standing grudge, you better do that. .No excusesFaith blinds us to a lot of inconsistencies. From human reasoning, there's no logical connection between this command to kill the Amalekites in such manner and a loving and merciful God giving the command. How can we reconcile this? |
I beg these selfish politicians, leave GEJ alone because you are distracting him. He is our President today, we voted him into power so let him work. You can pass your judgement in the next election. As long as you do not have any factual evidence that delimits his position as president, shut up and give our leader a chance to lead. Tomorrow, you may have your chance. |
Who are these people anyway? How come they're making lots of news? I've never heard of them before. Or am I missing something? |
Nice initiative, but I don't like the idea of rewarding the first overall prize with a "big" car. Its better if they translate that to money. If an undergraduate wins the competition, I wonder what he would do with a Hyundai IX 35. Isn't it better they give money or some startup grants with some training and mentoring so that a business can be built around the app? |
d citizen:You could have made your points without insulting the average Nigerian youth. By the way, most of the other "unintellectual" comments seem to be closer to the reality, which you've obviously lost touch with. |
This is a very good deal for China. China gives Nigeria loan to build roads and China gets the contracts to build the roads. At the end of the day, its double gain for China, they get their money back and they get the jobs. These guys are smart. Nigeria gets 20 years to pay the loan, we sell Oil to them afterall. |
bettymafy: The interest rate is per annum. So, the interest using the above example will be 25k for 90days.Thanks for the clarification. About my second question, I didn't read the rates properly, higher tenors have slightly higher rates. |
I must say thanks to all the contributors on this thread for it has been very educative. Just a question on the interest rates. Is it per annum or per the tenor period. For example, if I invest 1M at 10% for 90 days, would the interest be 100k after 90 days or 25k (100k divide by 4)? Once again, thanks for this free financial advise. |
BraideBraide: My past-life, my family, my career, my social life, my distance fron God..infactn I'm just lost..About your past life If most persons want to be sincere, you'll hardly find someone with the perfect past life. We've all made mistakes that we regret, so don't get too hard on yourself because you're not alone. To get over that, be honest with yourself, know that you're not perfect, accept your mistakes, and work hard never to repeat them. If you offended anyone as a result of your past, sincerely beg their forgiveness, forgive yourself and move on. That way you would be at peace with yourself. About your family. I don't know what the problem is with your family, but like every problem it can be tackled if you break it down into mini steps and start making small victories. When we're overwhelmed with issues, we fail when we try to do a lot at the same time. You might not be able to solve all of them in one day, but with little steps, you'll get closer to the family life you want. About your social life. Like I said about your family, start small and do not take any giant step. I'll assume you're talking about relationships here. Maybe you don't have good friends, or you don't have someone you cherish/cherishes you in your heart. Whatever, just try to be good to people. If you care about people sincerely and you're kind to persons you meet, then your social life would be good soon enough. Starts with small steps. Help someone do some assignment or home chores, buy someone a small gift, appreciate someone... Do all these without expecting the person to do same for you. Love, and you shall be loved! About your career. Here, you have to plan. Look at where you are and think about where you want to be, then make small steps to get there. Find out what it takes to get to your ideal career and work towards it. The road won't be perfect. You'll get disappointments or unexpected failures. Whatever, just keep moving towards your goal by continually developing yourself in small easy steps. About your spiritual life. Like others, start somewhere. If you're a Christain/Muslim, form a longing for your holy book (Bible/Quran). Go to a close religious center, one that you have friends attending. Surround yourself with friends you admire and keep working together to improve yourself. Keep praying, fellowshipping, and studying. I'll keep emphasizing this: Start Small! The reason most of us fail in things we want to do is because we try to do too much at the same time. You cannot change all of your life in one giant step. Focus on one small aspect, improve it, then you'll get some momentum to keep improving. The key is continuous improvement (Kaizen as believed by the Japanese). I wish you the best. |
I think I can identify with this article. I used to think I was super intelligent, primarily because I was a local champion in high school and college. But at a time, I realized a lot of persons were better than me. Before then, I used to always groan when I'm not successful in some selection process that requires some intelligence, like passing a job aptitude test or interview. For example, when I just graduated, I used to refuse to apply to some companies, like banks because I felt I was too smart to work in a bank. In retrospect, I think I was naive. I even turned down some job offers thinking I deserved more pay. With time, I had to humble myself to get to the basics of whatever I want to do, without much expectations from myself. I just had to start from somewhere and keep making steady progress. I think this has made me happier somehow. The challenge lies in trying to gauge your real capabilities. Sometimes, we underrate ourselves and at other times, we overrate ourselves. There are two dangers in thinking you're very smart. First, it'll make you feel relaxed, thinking you do not need to work as much as others - just because you're smarter than them. This can easily lead to failure. Second, you start expecting too much from yourself. When you don't meet up to your expectations, you become frustrated and you blame the "unfair" system; instead of figuring out why you failed. |
Just saw this on BBC WEATHER a huge rain loud system heading towards West Africa in a few days to weeks with the possibility of a HURRICANE over LAGOS. Please make adequate preparations for this extreme weather system.@OP Any links please ? I can't find this on BBC! |
Is Mumumi as popular as Colin Udoh? We hear less of Mumumi these days. |
How come its mostly among black persons you hear such thrash? It seems all the demons in the world are in Africa, after all. |
Nice one pope. Tell our pastors here to buy more "humble jets". jackbauersballs: Humble cars |
danny301: Some of you are misunderstanding the whole thing to mean that candidates from states with high cut-off marks are assumed to be very brilliant while their counterparts from the other states are confirmed dummies which is not the case. What this means is that each state of the federation is allotted a specific number of students in unity schools and while some states have too many of their pupils showing interest in these schools even more than the places allotted them few others like those ones in the core north have very few pupils compared to their places in the same school(s) hence the disparities in the cut-off marks.I think you're the one misunderstanding "the whole thing". What this simply means is that students from SE/SW/SE have to work harder than those from the north. A guy from Yobe needs to score 2 in the exam, but a guy from Imo, for example, has to score 138. So its possible to have two students, one that scores 2 and one that scored 138 admitted; whereas, a better student from Imo that scores 130 would not be admitted. This is not fair! The schools should be interested in getting the best students. Let the best students get admitted. |
noblezone: Yes. though it is being forcefully colonized and occupied by Nigeria.Yes, you lost a war and your sovereignty. Your leaders accepted and conceded defeat. They subjected themselves and all their people (including you!) to Nigerian rule. So as far as history goes, Biafra, as a country, does not exist! |
obinna-kenedo: I asked a honest question. I didn't expect this from a responsible person.Brilliance9000: [b]Biafra would have been a great country had the war worked to their advantage. I visited a museum in the East and saw with my eyes what Biafra engineers and scientists invented and built. I was shocked; shocked that they could invent such in the 60s. Such weaponry and military equipment that no African country then could envisaged building. How they got knowledge of the designs of the tanks, warship( yes they built it), aircraft( yes they built it) remain a mystery. The fact that these were all built with locally sourced materials makes it more ingenious and sheer demonstration of the brilliance of their engineers. Many of these engineers as I'm being told; when the war ended were whisked out of the country to U.S and Europe, arranged by the governments of these countries. No doubt their leaders had their share of mistakes but no man can dispute.... the ingenuity, brilliance, determination and clear vision of the Biafran people. Thanks for providing a link in your updated post. I hadn't seen it before. I'll like to visit it anyway. |

I'll like to visit it too. |
noblezone: If i were Jonathan, I would had had removed the subsidy 100% and allow market forces to determine the prices of petroleum products. Subsidy is a killer of our wholesome economy. someone needs some lessons in history. |

drnonny: I am interested and attracted to a girl who happens to be my friend's girlfriend, though they are no longer together (they broke up last 2 weeks). I am confused whether to ask her out now or later or to forget about her. I really love that gal.I think its too early to do that, even if you're already her friend. But whatever you do, discuss this with your friend first. If he is really your friend, let him know before you approach her (not seeking his consent, at least, just inform out of respect). It might be tough, but be a man! Otherwise, you might end up loosing both of them. |
itbillgate: @ All Thanks a lot for series of advice, Our introduction is September and we are getting married next year by God's grace.Congrats in advance. Good to know that some persons have the courage to follow their inner voices. Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it! |
