Mekanus: Yes I use the calculations. Hmm... And you still find it difficult to decipher what's being said? Did you download technical kepboard on phone to assist you in slowing the audio speed? Volume booster to increase the volume of the audio? If you've done all that, and its still difficult, then you need to train your ears by watching lots of American movies and series (especially the ones without subtitle). |

As much as I was making prep to dedicate more time to this to start pulling at least 400 mins. Sadly I can't. Starting a full time job this week. That means goodbye to QA World. Enjoy guys. Maybe on weekends I can dedicate a few hours. If the pay is good, don't stress it. Congrats. |

PattyMike: You again. Thanks I read through it though. I didn't see the Africard thing but you should not put people down with things you say. Unfortunately so much egomaniacs on this thread. The man who opened this thread was very patient with everybody even with irrelevant questions. U can't expect me to read 185 pages. I don't like to get involved in nairaland clapbacks, but I just had to point out. The bolded is doable. If you had put the "data, time and stress" into reading at least the first 5 pages, you'd be educating others too. Good thing you finally found the info you needed. ENOUGH OF THE NAME CALLING AND CURSES. We're supposed to be adults here. |

Use this calculation to pick less accented american calls. That is the magic most of us use. Also, download technical keyboard or hacker's keyboard from playstore. These keyboards have the special functions as found on any computer keyboard. These special function keys are shortcuts to slow/speed up the audio file you're working on. e.g. f1 slows down the audio file, while f2 speeds it up. |

dregmaster: @drawnobet. Where are you? You started this thread. Don't run away o! And @Damoladamola. Where are you? Why are you not interested in this thread? You brought this small chops to Nairaland in the former thread. Kudos to you Sir! It'd interest you to know, Drawnobet's being penalized for about 12 months or more. Damola is who I can't say what happened to him/her. But, I'm sure grateful to all them that brought this gig to Nairaland. God'll not stop blessing all who spread this gospel! There are lots of jobless youths everywhere!! Graduates!!! It's disheartening to see how a 4-year degree holder is being abused, in the name of 'employment.' Let's keep doing our part, keep spreading the gospel, till there are no "lazy Nigerian youth" anymore! I STAN!!! |

nwafresh: Same time with fnd circle but the pay is low. A 10 min call will be $2.02. As an engineering student back then, we have something that's called Interpolation. I use that to pick Clh.
Ex: 10 min--------> $2.0 16 min - - - - - - > $X
If you do the math, it will look like
16×2/10= $3.2
That's how I differentiate F UK from clh, especially long calls. I hope this helps Sha

GabrielYulaw: Hello! I think I understand you now. You work for other freelancers, correct? Ok. There is no harm or shame in that, cos I too regularly help other freelancers complete the project they were assigned. There is really no guaranteed way of getting jobs on freelancer. You simply have to write the very best bids for projects, keep your eyes open and be totally professional. Freelancer work is never easy and there might be months when you are unemployed cos no client has hired you. Still, try not to be discouraged, keep on applying for the best projects you are qualified for and keep on polishing your skills. I think a way to spot scam clients, an employer that registered today and is posting jobs immediately. No records whatsoever. These are the kind of clients that have contacted me to make security deposit before being awarded a project. |

GabrielYulaw: You spent $9 on a membership plan? Not cool. There's another membership plan that costs a little less than $5. It would have been a better investment cos it's good and not very expensive.
Look, everyone on freelancer is given a certain number of bids. The number of bids vary depending on the membership plan the person is on. Like right now I'm on the Basic Plan. That entitles me to around 15 bids per month. If you upgraded to the $9 plan and have yet to make up to 20 bids but your bids have finished, then something is wrong. Or not
Look, depending on the membership plan you are on, the bids replenish faster than normal. So I don't think you have anything to worry about. Still, make sure you are actually on a $9 membership plan.
Another thing, since it appears that you have money, you should consider having some freelancer exams. They cost around $5 each if I remember correctly and make you eligible for more jobs. Also, most employers will only employ people with certificates from these exams. As a minimum consider doing the exam that shows you are proficient in English.
Another thing, to get work you need to write outstanding bids. That means your bid on any project must be A class. So, next time you make a bid, have a look at the bids made by other people and learn from this in order to be able to make killer bids.
Also, don't spend all your time in projects. There are many contests on Freelancer. You can enter them for free and win cool cash. If you do really well the contest holder might even start giving you steady work.
Do let me know if you have more questions. I've not paid o. It's a free trial for one month. At the expiry of the trial period of one month, I can consider downgrading my plan. |

GabrielYulaw: . Good. It's a sure scam. He go collect the "security deposit" and at the end will not pay you. That means you will end up working for him for free. Look, for now if you get gigs make sure they pay you through freelancer and use freelancer milestone. The milestone fee should be what you both agreed on. The reason is that if you work for a client and he refuses to pay, you can contact freelancer and they will investigate. If they find that you did good work and the client is at fault they will release the milestone fee to you. Keep doing this till you find a client you can trust. If you trust a client, you can ask to be paid weekly and off freelancer. Being paid off freelancer means you won't be subject to freelancer fees, but opens you up for problem if the client for some reason refuses to pay for work done. Right now you are new at this and it can be discouraging, but keep at it. Apply for all the freelancer contests you can and apply for freelancer projects you feel confident about. And feel free to ask me anything. Thank you so much for this. There are quite a lot I'm get to understand. Like the number of bids I'm entitled to. I was given 8 bids as a free member initially, then I upgraded to $9 package yesterday. I've not placed up to 20 bids, yet, I only have 3/100 bids left. How does it work please? |

So I placed a bid for this project, and was awarded the bid. But the client has been offline ever since. Should I go ahead and accept it? Time is running out. Please advice, gurus in the house. Good morning all.
Also, I was given a demo of a project, which I submitted, the client said I'd be contacted after 4hrs to know my fate. Its been 17hrs, the guy is offline. What to do?
Please advice a newbie. How do I know genuine bids?! |
