Gwalior: In a shocking incident police on Friday arrested a bridegroom for raping a guest in Murar Colony area of Gwalior. The groom had took advantage of the crowd and raped the victim on his wedding day, said reports.

According to a senior cop of Murar police station, the 23-year-old victim was raped by the bridegroom hours before his marriage on June 3. He took advantage of the crowd and dragged the girl into a secluded corner of the guest house and raped her, he added.

The accused also forced the victim to drink cola laced with drugs, due to which she became unconscious and could not raise an alarm. The victim kept mum for two day and approached the Murar police station with a relative after all the marriage rituals were over.

The bridegroom was arrested on Friday and has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code

Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau and factional Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), on Friday led 14 state governors to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa.
Addressing State House correspondents after a closed door meeting, Jang said they were in the villa to consult with the President.
He said “we have met with Mr President with me leading a team of governors from the Nigerian Governors Forum to congratulate Mr President and to consult with him on very serious national issues”.
When asked on the specific issues discussed with President Goodluck Jonathan, the governor said it ranged from security to governance and development.
“You know the security problem in the country and what we need to do in the coming two years to ensure that democracy stabilised and development continues in the country,” he said.
Also responding to the question of the division in NGF, he said: “Well, let me tell you that there is no any faction of the NGF. The NGF is one and I am the chairman of the NGF.”
The governors, who met the president with Jang, included Liyel Imoke of Cross River, Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, Peter Obi of Anambra, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and Theodore Orji of Abia.
Others are Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Idris Wada of Kogi, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State and Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State.
Also in attendance were the acting Governor of Taraba, Garba Umar and the Deputy Governor of Benue, Steven Lawani. (NAN)

Of all the governors in Nigeria and in the PDP specifically, why them?

Why is it so difficult for a governor to stay in his lane and allow the president stay in his own lane in peace? Does Jonathan strike you as a bully (e.g Obasanjo) who would pick on a random governor minding his own business just for the perverse thrill of it? If an over-ambitious governor decides to challenge the president, knowing the risk involved in such an undertaking, why should other sensible governors feel threatened.These are the real issues.

Every sensible governor, especially those in the president's party, knows that he is safe in his position as long as he faces the important matter of governing his state and ravoids needless battles. When you begin fancying yourself as more important and powerful than you really are, and foolishly challenge your 'innocent' chi to a fight, then you have no reason to feel victimised when you meet your inevitable doom.
