The Osun State Government on Monday announced that butchers in the state would henceforth pay N700 as levy for every cow slaughtered for sale in the state.
The announcement followed a decision reached at a meeting between the state government and Osun Cattle Butchers Association in Osogbo.
Mr Wale Adedoyin, a consultant to the state government, who represented it at the meeting, told newsmen that the levy was introduced to boost internally-generated revenue of the state.

According to him, parties at the meeting agreed that henceforth the establishment of a new slaughter slab will attract payment of N50, 000.
Adedoyin, a former commissioner for agriculture and food security in the state, added that registration of each member of the butchers association would attract N2,500 while annual renewal of registration would cost N1,000.
Adedoyin explained that the levies became necessary in order to improve on the finances of the state, adding that proceeds from the levy would also be used for provision of necessary facilities and the abattoirs.

He stated that levy was not intended to cause hardship or pains to the butchers, and appealed to them to cooperate with the government.
Also speaking, Dr Bukola Aluko, Coordinating Director, Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Youth Engagement in the state, assured butchers that the government would provide facilities and support them to make their operations easier.

In their reaction to the development, Chairman and Patron of the butchers association, Alhaji Sulaiman Adebimpe and Alhaji Tiamiyu Alamu, respectively, expressed gratitude to the state for always involving them in decisions that affect the group.
They assured that their members would strive to comply with the levy directive.

IPOB: We Campaign for Biafra Restoration, Not Secession

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said an erroneous impression is being created that its campaign is for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria, pointing that it is actually agitating for “restoration of Biafra.”
This clarification of IPOB’s mission was contained in a statement issued by the media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, saying that the geographical area called Biafra preceded “the contraption called Nigeria” having been in existence several centuries before the creation of Nigeria in 1914.
“The Biafra, an ancient nation which was easily colonised by the British in the early 18th century has since remained under occupation and her citizens are now ready to take it back and remove the people from the shackles of bondage,” he said.
He added that the emergence of Biafra in Africa had been foretold in prophecies very long ago hence the IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu “has come up with the true reasons why the nation of Biafra must be accomplished.”
According to him, it was “well prophesied by some prophets that a nation will emerge from Africa that will help alleviate the poverties that had been ravaging the people of Africa since the creation of this earth.”
The IPOB media and publicity secretary said Biafra was the nation that the great seer, Nostradamus referred to as the nation which lies along the Atlantic coast of Africa and from its geographical location is the “Trigger” of development in Africa.
He noted that since the emergence of Biafra had been foretold “our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, only appeared to accomplish divine project, adding that it behooves on the people of Africa and the world at large to support the actualisation of Biafra due to its potential for greatness.
He said: “Biafra will be a nation that will bring hope for the future generation, a nation that will serve as a liberating tool for the entire black race and African continent, a nation that will wipe away tears of a thousand years of our fathers and mothers, a nation that will restore peace in Africa and across the world, a nation that will restore the value of the black race, a nation that will uphold the glory of God almighty.
“Nostradamus saw it, he made mention of it during his days, he talked about a nation that lies along the Atlantic coast, a nation that serves as the trigger of Africa, he said time will come and this great nation will rise and liberate Africa, he said this nation will become great and never fall again.”
He said the Biafra restoration movement was “aware that Britain, US, EU and the entire western world know the truth about the people of Biafra, the Biafran restoration course, the same way it happened with Israel in the late 40’s when Israel was being restored back to greatness but in the end Israel stood tall because almighty Yahweh was behind them”.
The IPOB media secretary insisted that “Biafra will be restored and will become one of the greatest nations in the world because this is God’s project and not man making, Biafrans are said to be the last race of the black Hebrew from the line of Eri.”

The way some think and talk sometimes is really amusing, I wonder if it's intentional or not, the military you guys are clapping for is actually killing (that' if they are actually killing ) the militants who are not relevant, in fact the niger delta avengers will even applaud and approve this military service onslaught on the militant.

However, it would be foolhardy to assume that the "drop bomb" strategy would work in the Niger Delta creeks.

First, the topography of the creeks are beautifully crafted to prevent the uninitiated whether via Air Land or Sea. Imagine 1000 rivers covered with mangrove trees all connecting with each other and meandering snakingly leading to nowhere.
Via Air, its impossible to detect activity as the Mangroves provide cover. Via Land, the swampy terrain makes it impossible to utilize conventional tanks. And via SEA, you are faced with the difficulty of the Snaky rivers as you cannot see whats in front of you.

If you've ever been in the creeks, you'd understand why America lost the Vietnam War. A wise man would avoid a fight with fishes in the river.
