Gov Fayose left the venue of a meeting he was having with Ekiti lawmakers at the government house arcade and went to Fajuyi where he inspected some portion of the ongoing flyover.He also had a measurement of a truck on the express leading to Christ School.

The construction workers hailed and sang for him, the song impressed him and he sorted them in cash as usual. As he continued trekking towards the government house gate, he asked "where are the vehicles"? They went to make U-Turn, replied one of the aides.

At that point he was already in front of the Okada junction, the Okada riders were hailing him already, so he called on one of them, "Oya come, carry me to the government house", the guy obliged and he zoomed off to the government house.

Governor Ayodele Fayose yesterday presented a brand new Kia Cerato to Mrs. Bamisile Lucy after she emerged best Civil Servant for the year 2016 on at the Trade Fair Centre, Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti.

Three civil servants were shortlisted for the award but lucky Mrs. Bamisile emerged winner after she picked 'Yes' and the two others picked 'No' in the lot cast by the governor.

Officers of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad have uncovered diesel adulterating factories underneath Oregun Link Bridge, Ikeja, Loagos State. Over 20 suspects were arrested during the raid. The area was littered with surface tanks, tankers, buses and drums. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni ordered investigation into diesel adulteration in the area and deployed police to man area.

Fayose: FG govt wants to tax Nigerians to death, condemns increase in cost of data

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government desire was to tax Nigerians to death, saying; “Nigerians must resist any attempt to impose new tax on them.”

The governor described the federal government’s plan to increase the cost of data as wicked, adding that “Most Nigerians are still alive today because they are kept busy by their access to social media. They relieve themselves of the burden of hunger and despair, placed on them by the federal government’s lack of policy direction by reading news and jokes, chatting with friends, watch comedy movies, etc. Denying them of this opportunity through increment in the cost of internet subscription will mean that the federal government deliberately wants many Nigerians, especially the youths to die of depression.”

He hailed the Senate for directing the National Communication Commission (NCC) to suspend the planned increment, saying; “The government must be sensitive to the plight of the people. Today, despite all the taxes and increments in services rendered by federal government agencies, minimum wage has remained at N18, 000 while millions of jobs have been lost. Do they want Nigerians to pay with their blood?”

In a release issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “If the only way the federal government believes it can take Nigeria out of recession is to impose obnoxious taxes that will further impoverish the people, the federal government is not being fair to Nigerians.”

He said; “Under 20 months of Buhari’s government, petrol price was increased from N87 to N145 per litre, kerosene; diesel and gas price was increased, electricity tariff was increased, N50 stamp duty was introduced on bank customers, 9% tax for the use of communication services like calls, SMS, MMS and data usage from telecommunication service providers; internet service providers and Pay TV Stations.

“It is also under this APC government that N65 levy was imposed on every withdrawal on ATM, various bank charges introduced, custom duties increased, increment of VAT from five per cent to 10 per cent contemplated, cost of vehicle plate numbers and drivers licence increased, and now cost of internet subscription is to be increased too.

“Is this government out to tax Nigerians to death?”

While condemning the proposed increment in the cost of data, Governor Fayose said it was strange that the federal government came with the idea less than three weeks after the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed complained about the damage being done to the image of the Buhari’s government by the social media.

“About three weeks ago, Lai Mohammed told Nigerians that social media was the greatest nightmare of the federal government and now, we are being told that federal government has told telecommunication providers to increase the cost of internet subscription. Is this not a way of indirectly restricting Nigerians from using social media?

“They tried to gag Nigerians, using the failed social media bill, now they want to use increment of internet subscription to achieve what they could not achieve with the social media bill last year. Nigerians must say no to this and I am standing with the youths of Nigeria to say no to any increment in the cost of data,” Fayose said.

Al- Mustapha meets with Okoroji, others
...Chats new course for APUDI in Imo

Founder and Chief Executive of Al-Mustapha Peace Unity and Development Initiative, APUDI, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha,paid a visit to Owerri Imo state.
He was welcomed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, by the state Coordinator, Hon. Chukwuka Okoroji, in company of Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Asoka and Prince Chukwuemeka Uba, the State Publicity Secretary.

In a meeting same with the former army officer which took place at the Star Arrival Hotel Owerri, he told the APUDI representatives that every machinery is on ground to bring succour to the less privileged in the society, pointing out that it was the reason he personally came to meet them.

Major Al-Mustapha, stressed further that the areas his foundation is looking into include but not limited to the APUDI Integrated farms, transportation, bakery, conflict resolution institute which has already commenced and affiliated to University of Nigeria Nsukka, and many other projects which according to him is aimed at alleviating the worries of many Nigerians.

Speaking furthermore, he said he is determined to make sure that the nation is at peace and viable in all ramifications, stating that Imo state is in his plans.He assured Hon. Okoroji of his readiness to work with his leadership and possibly hand him over the coordination of his activities in the entire South-East zone of the Nation.

Responding to his speech, Okoroji gave him assurance of corporation, saying he will not betray the vision and mission of the founder having seen and believed what is already on ground.He commended, Prince Chukwuemeka Uba,KSP for making the meeting possible, which according to him showed that he is a man of integrity, adding that he  will galvanise as soon as possible for the projects to commence in earnest in Imo state and possibly in the entire Igbo nation.

In her speech, the woman representative, Hon Mrs. Asoka thanked the August visitor for giving them audience and pledged to with the State Coordinator and other members of the executive in a bid to achieve the desired aim of APUDI in the state and the nation at large.

Giving his vote of thanks after the marathon meeting which lasted for hours, the Publicity Secretary, Prince Uba, noted that he ensured that the meeting took place in Owerri in a bid to correct the bad impression created by some people and disgruntled elements over the  activities of APUDI in the state.He described Al-Mustapha who was the Chief Security Officer, CSO to ex- Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha as a refined person who forgives easily. Al-Mustapha later invited them to Abuja for further discussions.

THE PEOPLE HAVE CHOSEN CHANGE

I wish to express my profound gratitude, first, to the Almighty God whose infinite grace has allowed us to see this day. This victory is of God through the people. It is not for me or the APC alone, it is a victory for the people of Ondo state irrespective of which side of the divide you stood during the election. For me it is a challenge to perform. It is a call to rescue our state and reverse its fortunes.

I thank the people of my dear state for their steadfastness. I have heard their messages throughout the campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the state. Today, you have spoken with one voice. You have walked your talk. You have voted for me as your Governor for the next four years.
Today, Change has come. I hereby make a solemn pledge that this collective mandate shall address all issues with keen determination. The welfare of our people alone shall be the directive policy of the government.

Today’s victory is a confirmation of the willingness and readiness of the people of Ondo state to change and seek a better life. I thank you for your faith and confidence in me. I thank all those, whose uncommon sacrifices, contributed in no small measure to the success of the exercise. A special show of gratitude must be extended to our security agents for their patriotic duty.

I appeal to everyone to embrace peace. The safety of lives and property of the people should be of paramount importance to all.

Let me use this opportunity to thank, profusely, the President and leader of our party, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his exemplary leadership. I thank our indefatigable and principled party chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun and members of the National Working Committee, APC Governors and Ministers who remained faithful to the Party for their unflinching loyalty.

I shall in few months be saddled with the task of providing responsible leadership, a leadership that would take our people from poverty and stagnation to productivity and prosperity, from pains and lamentation to joy and laughter. It is the sole reason you have voted for me and by the grace of God I will not fail you.

'So my younger sister was posted to Borno state for the ongoing NYSC orientation camp, but she's camping in Bauchi state due to the security situation in Borno.

Below are some pictures of the dilapidated building where she and some others girls have been condemned to spend 21 days. The rooms are dingy, infested with bed bugs and a sickening stench of Urine. This is wicked and totally unacceptable!

Why should a country treat her citizens less than pigs and expect any form of productivity or patriotism from them! It's a shame!

The Port Harcourt Division Of The Court Of Appeal has released on bail Mr Ojukaye Amachree,a Chieftain Of The All Progressive Congress in Rivers State who had been in prison since April 2016.


It will be recalled that Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree was first arrested on 19th April 2016 for murder and detained in prison custody on the 20th of April 2016. Within the period, the police under the leadership of IGP Solomon Arase wrote a report in which they stated clearly that their investigation did not link Hon. Amachree to the murder in question or anyone at all.

However, Justice Magret Opara who is handling that matter refused to grant him bail. His Lawyer, late Barr. Ken Atsuwete appealed to the Court of Appeal and the Court of Appeal granted him bail.
On the 1st of July 2016, the day that the Court of Appeal fixed the bail application for hearing, the Attorney General of Rivers State, Mr. Chinwe Aguma (SAN), brought another charge of murder against Hon. Flag Amachree. In deed, while Hon. Ojukaye Amachree, who had not been previously served with charge was at the Court of Appeal, the Chief Judge made an order in his absence remanding him in prison and also issued a bench warrant against the Deputy Comptroller of Port Harcourt Prisons for not producing Hon. Amachree.

Hon. Amachree is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State and a very strong factor in the politics of Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, which is one of the determinant LGAs in the Rivers West Senatorial District where many National and State Assembly seats await rerun election. The APC had accused the Governor of the State of trumping up murder charges against Hon. Amachree just to keep him away.

It is also being insinuated in many quarters within Rivers State that the murder of the Human Right Activist and Lawyer, Barr. Ken Atsuwete between 28/29 August 2016 is not unconnected with his dogged defense as Attorney to Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree.
