3 thieves who have been stealing diesel from the National Assembly have been nabbed by security operatives in Abuja. The three thieves were disgraced at the National Assembly after they were caught in Abuja.

 According to Kayode Ogundamisi,the suspects were caught by security operatives and will be taken into custody pending prosecution.He said....

"Photo-Speak! Stealing from the thieves. Suspects in attached photo apprehended for stealing diesel from premises of @HouseNGR & @NGRSenate."

Old Premier 's Lodge- former official residence of late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe in Enugu when he was the premier of the defunct Eastern Region of Nigeria.  The facility is being  upgraded by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi into a tourist centre.Photos show the rehabilitation work going on as well as some artifacts found.


According to a reliable source, Gov Ugwuanyi wants to make history by immortalizing Zik : to transform the late sage's official residence as Premier of defunct Eastern Region into a modern tourist site. Gov. Ugwuanyi revealed this during a historic visit to Zik's widow, Prof. Uche Azikiwe in their Onuiyi Haven residence.

Today, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai commissioned and handed over vehicles and supplies to eight Local Governments, (Giwa, Jaba, Jema'a, Kajuru, Kudan, Lere, Soba and Zangon Kataf) for the Sanitation,Hygiene and Water in Nigeria (SHAWN II) Project.

The SHAWN II Project is a UNICEF/DFID supported Program aimed at improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene,particularly in rural schools, communities and public places. UNICEF/DFID rated Kaduna State the best amongst participating states in Nigeria in the last SHAWN II Review Meeting conducted in August, 2016.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom yesterday announced a donation of N10 million to assist the NKST Mkar School of Nursing and Midwifery to meet up with accreditation requirements.

He also presented four vehicles to the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Makurdi while expressing optimism that with concerted efforts to meet required standards their accreditation would be secured.

Governor Ortom spoke at the Benue Peoples House where he received a delegation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria led by Mrs Okeoma Chiemeka.

According to him it was regrettable that the schools lost accreditation for several years on account of previous government neglect inspite of what he described as its enormous contributions to health care delivery in the state and several countries abroad.

Governor Ortom said the determination of his administration was to upgrade the School of Nursing Makurdi and affiliate it with the College of Health Sciences at the Benue State University to become a degree awarding institution.

He expressed optimism that soon he would invite the council to return and inspect facilities at the school in the realisation of that objective.

The Governor commended Faith based organizations in the state for their contributions to the development of the state particularly in the education and health sectors and assured them of the state government’s support.

Leader of the accreditation team, Mrs Chiemeka, pledged that the council would do its work in accordance with the guidelines.

Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Cecilia Ojabo, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the political will and commitment he has exhibited in ensuring the resumption of the two schools.

Amosun Rewards Paralympian, Coach with N1.5m

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has rewarded Mrs. Lateefat Omolola Tijani, a Paralympics Silver Medalist from Ogun State, with a cash prize of N1m while her coach, Mrs. Kemi Oyebola, was given a cash prize of N500,000.

In addition to the cash prize, the governor also promised to provide the Paralympian with training kits of her choice that could aid her preparation for the next Paralympic games.
Governor Amosun also charged the Paralympian to ensure that she wins a Gold medal at the next Paralympics.

The governor stated this, on Wednesday, when Mrs. Tijani and her coach, Mrs. Kemi Oyebola, came to present the Silver medal she won in the 45kg weightlifting category of the just concluded Paralympics game in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, to the governor at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office.

While congratulating the Silver medalist for the feat, Governor Amosun urged her not to relent in her quest for excellence.

The governor also seized the occasion to appreciate the coach, family and all those who supported Mrs. Tijani to achieve this laudable feat.

Responding, Mrs. Tijani thanked the governor for what she described as his “kind gesture and support for sports.” She added that with the governor’s support, “I can assure you that I am going for the Gold medal at the next Olympics.”

Tomorrow, 6th October, The Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna will confer on The Chairman of IVM Innoson Group, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR an Honorary Doctorate Degree during the Graduation of Cadets of 63 Regular Course.

Dr Chukwuma who came into the Nigerian Defence Academy today was received by the Commandant of The Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General M. T. Ibrahim who extolled him on his visionary strides in putting Nigeria on the world map by becoming the first to locally produce vehicles in Nigeria.

The General who confessed he never knew Dr Chukwuma said the Academy were looking for Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their endeavors and his name came up top.

In his short address, Dr Innocent Chukwuma thanked the Nigerian Defence Academy for founding it worthy to bestow this honour to him and assured him that he would continue to create more giants strides and employment opportunities for Nigeria.

'Arsenal's and 2014 African Women's Best Player set to be unveiled as Ambassador for Anambra State Women League.

On Sunday 2nd October 2016, Super Falcons Striker, Asisat Oshoala was a guest at the last match of Fc Ifeanyi Ubah for the NPFL 2015/2016 season. She also accompanied the Club President Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and Club Chairman Mr. Chuma Ubah to the Players, Officials and Supporters camp inside the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.

The Arsenal forward presented a birthday cake to Dr. Ubah as her own gift to the Ideas Bearer, Ex-Monaco and 1997 African Footballer of the year Victor Ikpeba, Mr. Fanny Amuh MON and other dignitaries were present. Dr. Ubah then went on to praise Oshoala for being a worthy ambassador of Nigeria in the diaspora and pledged that she will soon be unveiled Ambassador of the coming Anambra State Female League to be kick-off very soon.

Dr. Ubah is the proprietor of Capital Oil and Gas and Fc Ifeanyi Ubah both signed a partnership deal with West Ham United Fc of London. He is also the Chairman Anambra State Football Association that is geared towards organizing the Fifa backed mega project "Football Made In Anambra".

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state house of assembly has urged the people of the state to pray for, and show maximum support to, President Muhammadu Buhari and to the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, saying this is time for good leadership and followership.

He said this on Monday when he stopped by his constituency office in Nsit Ubium to observe the public holiday with his constituents.

In calling for supports for President Buhari, Hon. Onofiok Luke urged the people of the state across political parties to ensure that Gov Udom enjoys their maximum supports. He said that at the state level, it was important for everybody to emulate PDP governors across the country who have shunned party sentiments to show support to the president.

“You must pray for Nigeria and Akwa Ibom. You must pray for His Excellency the president of Nigeria to succeed. If he doesn’t succeed, Nigeria will not succeed. We are done with elections; now is the time for selfless governance. You must show Mr President full supports without sentiments."

He said likewise at the State level, the people must shun politics to support Governor Udom Emmanuel.

"I tell people, the way PDP governors cooperate with our president so he could succeed, in like manner, let others join hands towards the success of Governor Udom Emmanuel.”

During the stop over, the Speaker who is widely known in the state as "The Peoples' Speaker", surprised 10 young entrepreneurs when he gave them one hundred thousand Naira each to support their businesses. He said the money was in the spirit of 'Dakadda' which is being promoted by Gov. Emmanuel. He said the governor wants everybody in the state to attain greatness and that everybody must must key into the dakadda philosophy.

All the ten youths are into small scale businesses ranging from poultry farming to fisheries and retailing.

Speaker Luke said it was important for the youths to not just 'dakadda'. He said that as the state governor has said, every youth should arise and do something profiting for himself and the state.

"Dakadda yem se anam", he told the excited youths who were drawn from across the ten wards of Nsit Ubium local government area.

He assured the constituents that the “industrialization plan of government is on course.”

Hundreds of constituents crowded the constituency office in Ikot Edibon when they heard of the Speaker's stop-over. The Speaker said he deemed it fit to visit the people today being a public holiday. He promised to return to the constitituency for what he says will be "constituency thank-you and empowerment visit."

He thanked the women of the constituency for their steadfastness and their faith in the PDP especially as was exhibited in the last governorship election. He expressed appreciation to the women of Nsit Ubium for their love and support for the first Lady, Mrs Martha Emmanuel and for her flagship programme, the Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Programme, FEYReP.
