Perseverance127: You are the one that need to travel. In the last 10 years I have been to all states in Nigeria, on humanitarian, asides the north east region. All pictures I took with even better cameras, appeared ugly immediately, and I deleted all. But you only need a low quality phone to get the desired picture in owerri. Eid El fitr in owerri

damoobaba: Very beautiful question. I'm glad you asked this questions but I will school people as usual. As far back as 1999, it was clear Owerri had a path to improve on it's beauty through individual efforts to beautify their surroundings. Infact it was like a competition to plant flowers in front of your houses/streets. It became somewhat culturized, as evident in beautiful landscaping accross the city center. Not satisfied with the level of beauty, government came in (through ikedi ohakim) to ban okada(second city in Nigeria to do this), demolish billboards littered all over the city , through the clean and green initiative. The plan was to sustain the master plan of mbakwe, then governor of old imo state. Today, Owerri is the only city that appears beautiful, even with an untarred street, because of this habit. So it is no coincidence when I say Owerri is the most beautiful city in Nigeria today, because there was a clear path to this assertion |

When I always promote Owerri, people think I don't know what I'm doing. You can only promote your own and get satisfied. There's no reason why you should sell everything in life just to be in a white man's land, when you can make your own "paradise". The ineptudity of our state governors shouldn't be an excuse not to create a niche of comfortability,as started by individual drilling of boreholes, installation of solar panels, landscaping, medical outreaches etc The truth is, if you don't call your self king, nobody will do that, not even the white man and that's why I feel we have more to offer in an Igbo nation than a Nigerian contraption |

hammer567: It is encoded in the DNA of igbos to engage in constructive criticisms as seen among age grades, umunna, umuada etc and geared towards development. Intermarriage does not in anyway take away that code. Telling people to stop intermarriage is one of the dumbest things I have heard in my life. However, there are saboteurs whose modus operandi is to define constructive criticism as disunity, derailing the real intent for meaningful development. In Imo state for example, we have people who believe okigwe isn't at par with owerri, so what if docility among okigwe sons is the cause for that? An average igbo man will criticize any Igbo leader whose not doing well leaving very few political jobbers to defend these politicians for a living. It's in our interest these criticisms trive so we won't suffer in the wake of a balkanization. These are examples of criticism you shouldn't discourage: Reporter: see the road my able governor built Me: it is substandard, show us the completed project Reporter: wao! My governor has completed a power plant and people are enjoying 24/7 light Me: mention the areas people are enjoying 247 light, was the project done by your governor or completed by collaboration of an individual and FG? Reporter: Imo governor is not doing well Me: in what area ? Reporter: wao, our governor is doing well, flags off 11km, 12km etc road projects Me: show us the completed projects Reporter: Hope Uzodinma is the best governor Me: but he's yet to raise the status of Orlu to Owerri. You can never achieve inclusive development by docility and propaganda 2 Likes |

Procashtips: That's why you should go back to school. There can't be true development without press freedom and judicial independence. So what it means, even if you provide 247 electricity for me, and I experience low shading for 12 hours, you have the advantage to charge me for the whole 24 hours because it's a lawless society |
