I noticed UPS is having their packages delayed with reports saying 'your package is delayed due to government regulatory agency hold' .
So for guys requesting for I20 if you can use DHL or FedEx it would be better. |

SplendidGod: I'm a little bit confused as to what to do next. I received my I-20 form last week Friday and I'm supposed to pay my sevis fee and proceed with other visa matters. But my passport will expire in October and as such, I'll be needing a new passport for the visa interview. I have already started the process of getting a new one but it's really slow. In fact, the immigration officer here in Ibadan said the earliest time to receive the new passport will be by month end.
The question is, can I use my old passport number to start processing and scheduling for visa interview while I wait for the new one? Will it affect me in whatever way, going with a new passport on the day of the interview?
Guys, thank you for all your inputs on this thread. It has been worthwhile going through it and I pray every genuine student get his/her visa. Why are you in so much haste? |

obaru: Thank you sir. This is what my I-20 states. STUDENT'S FUNDING FOR 9 MONTHS : Personal Funds: $ 0 : Funds from the school $ They left it blank : Family Funds: $ 41,524 : On-Campus Employment $ They also left it blank ESTIMATED AVERAGE COST FOR 9 MONTHS : Tuition and Fees $ 21,040 : Living Expenses $ 15,484 : Expenses of Dependents (1) $5,000 Total:$ 41,524 For the family funds above, I gave them my uncle's bank statement for the school to issue me the above I-20. I have been offered GTA and my Ph.D will be funded after I was endorsed by a faculty member but I-20 has been sent since February which is not showing anything like funding. Please should I still go with my uncle's bank statement which is indicated as family fund on my I-20 or what should I do? Please I need you guys assistance. Thank you There is ample time to order for a new I20 that will reflect your GTA. My advice, contact international office and inform them of your GTA so they can inform you if there is any deficit, then you can provide an SOA to offset that. |

obaru: Good day house! I have been admitted for Ph.D in mechanical engineering for fall 2019. I am about to book an appointment but don't know the documents I should go with. I'm confused specifically in the area of bank statement. My I-20 is showing personal funds. Please what should I do? Please, I'm new in this forum and I need you people's help. Thank you. Your question is not clear. Is your I20 carrying your name as in self sponsor? Did you have funding from the school? Seeing you're going for PhD. What exactly is on your I20 |

sharwama: Congratulations on your admission my friend. ETSU takes the financial statement seriously, like they are really strict about it but they are also very understanding. You have two options. 1) Even if your dad is out of the country, he can always request an online bank statement. All my sponsor had to do was call her account officer and request the SOA be sent to MY email address in PDF. I forwarded the document as received. END OF STORY. 2) You should be able to change your sponsor. That means you would have to complete another affidavit of support form and your mum has to append her signature. A note of caution: your I-20 will contain your sponsor's name, as in it will be boldly written on it! You can't change it after that. So please take time and consider your options because of your visa interview( between your mum and your dad, who has more financial credibility in the long run) I was about asking if the I20 will bear the sponsor's details. You're a life saver . |

keji157: Good day everyone. I've been a silent follower. I recently applied to ETSU in March 2019 and I got my application approved on May 3rd to attend ETSU in Fall 2019. A mail was sent to me which contained a link to filling a form for my i20 which I did immediately. when applying in March, I submitted my dad's bank statement to the schoo which covered for Dec 2018 to March 2019. I got a mail from the school last night insisting I submit statement from 3 most recent months I.e Feb, March and April/May. My dad has been out of the country hence I cant get his bank statement. I want to know if it's okay to use my mom's bank statement since she is around. I plan to mail the school informing them of change in sponsor before they issue me form i20.
Please I need suggestions or advice before I take the above steps. Thank you all You know it's no more an excuse anymore to anyone that 'my sponsor has travelled' . Soft copies of SOA can be requested from the banks and hard copies can be shipped. So .. |

deebee23: Hey guys,
Just felt like I should share this here. I didn’t even know about this US student thread when I went for my interview. My first one was late last year which didn’t go well surprisingly. I was hardly asked any question and those that went before me were all rejected aside like 3 people which were of old age. Then went again January and it went well but I was given d wrong bank statement so when d vo asked for it and said there wasn’t enough in it I was really schoked. I didn’t let it put me down. I Picked my self up and applied for a Canadian student visa d following month. Well I got approved yesterday and picked my passport with d visa in it today.
Do not give up and if u know A doesn’t work for u try B. I wish those applying a successful interview. You were given the wrong bank statement? I don't get |

vinnyvince: Visa Approved today at the Abuja Embassy.
Here's an abridged version of my transcriot to K.I.S.S.
VO: Hello Me: Oh Hi! VO: I can see you're going for your Doctorate in aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Me: Thats correct. VO: Are you married? Me: Nope, I am single. VO: Why the Univerisity of Cincinnati? Me: My choice of schools was based on the Carnegie Classification of Institutes of Higher Education in which UC falls under the Schools with Very High Research activity(R1). I had emailed many profs with similar research interests who work in schools within the R1 list and received interesting replys from the Profs at UC. Also, they have a really strong faculty. Particularly, the first man to land on the moon surface, Neil Armstrong, was a one-time member of the aerospace engineering faculty and helped develop it. The above helped to shape my decision.
VO: **cute smile** Whats your research field about? Me: oh I am interested in the aerodynamics of airfoils as well as the development of miniaturized satellites--CubeSats in particular.
VO: *smiles* and asks, whats your highest degree qualification? Me: I currently hold a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of xxxx where i finished with a first class.
VO: hmm, i can see from your I-20 that you've been offered full scholarships.
Me: That's Correct.
VO: I will be approving your Visa. Please keep your I-20 very safe as you will be needing it at the POE.
I am grateful to God for his grace. Congrats man Did you have any deficit? |

You have to go with the I20 of all coming with you. If you can rectify it, kindly choose NO You have already indicated you have a family on your documents which will be used as your home tie. Top Schools does magic if in the IVY.. We all know that.
Like if you're a CEO, you did like to have a grad from Harvard in your firm right? But see the US is not like Nigeria where your effort is not commensurate to the rewards.
If you're are very consistent in self development, you'll walk with your shoulders high on Wall Street regardless of the school you attended.
In the US, your efforts is directly proportional to rewards.
I.e.
E = KR
Where K is constant self development |
