AgreatMan: You can call yourself a CEO to a road side vendor, no probs. But if u call yourself a CEO to a VO who earns around 10M naira per year n u can't pay your own school fees, u will look a lot out of your mind.
How can I be making 10 or 20 times of your income and u r telling me that u r a CEO?
If u also say u CEO, where is d board of directors u reporting to?
I am a business owner. I own a startup. I own an agro business. These are decent n honest answers. U can't just use a word loosely especially to the wrong person. This is very valid from my point of view. When the VO asks who's funding, they expect within their subconsciousness to hear 'myself' or 'myself and bla bla '. |

Vo: good morning Me: good morning Vo: please pass me your passport and 120. Me: of course, here it is . Vo: why re you going to the US Me: to pursue an mba in business administration and management . With business management concentration in ethical leadership and sustainable organizations, organizations systems, strategic thinking , special topics in management which includes management of a team and management of employees at point park university , down town Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania just as it’s written on My 1-20 . But my concentration wasn’t written on it. Vo: why point park university Me: from my research and findings, point park university offers one of the top mba programs in america. As reported by Pittsburgh business times, from 2011 through 2014, point park university mba was ranked 4th largest in Pittsburgh. Thier business management concentration is geared for professional like me looking to increase knowledge of ethical leadership and sustainable Organizations, strategic thinking , special topics in managements. Also point park university has experience faculties in the business field which has former experiences in industries that combines both business and management . Lastly point park university places an intensed focus on student Sucess through innovative , distinctive and innovative learning process. Vo: why do you need an MBA Me: as a ceo I feel it would be to my benefit to obtain an mba and hopefully gain the required tools to become a better Ceo. My first degree has nothing to do the business world. Having an mba will hopefully put me above in my career and above my peers whose first degree was just only a business degree. Lastly I want to be the first Contributor to the growth of my company . Vo: tell me about your program Me: it’s a 2 years , 36 credits course hour program in business administration and management . I would be required to start from an undergraduate bridge program which has 9credits before starting my mba properly. Vo: how do you intend to pay for you fees Me: after my Wes evaluation point park university offered me a 2000 scholarship . Before I graduating with a very high gp (4:08 /5.00). But the rest of my fees and living expenses will be paid by my uncle mr Alex , who is the ceo and owner of xyz company . They re Into the sales and distribution of frozen foods to different hotels in lagos. I have his bank statement here with me. Please would you like to see it. Vo: did you write any exam Me: No because the school admission requirement didn’t request for that . Vo: what will you be doing after your mba Me: I plan to return back to Nigeria 20th of December 2021 to be precised to put into pratice all I learned during my masters program. Vo: I will be approving your visa . Hand me the white paper . Collect your passport after 3 working days . Me: thank you Your answers are not succinct. Not clear cut. Is this your only school? Don't mention that bridge program o and hope it is not stated on your I20. What will you be doing after your MBA? Say something better After your WES evaluation ke! Sell yourself small.. Due to my exceptional application portfolio, I was offered a 2000 dols worth of scholarship..and the rest deficit will be taken care of by my uncle. then stop there! You're a CEO? Are you funding yourself? You sure you want to be a CEO for this interview? |

john9912: No funding and it's bsc....my uncle will be sponsoring any the total cost of attendance is about $44k The money is huge o! It is safer if your uncle or aunt is funding you after getting some form of Waiver. Else , it is hard to convince the VO that your uncle will cough out such sum for just a year to fund you. So try to get some waiver . |

Such as Tuition Waiver, GA, TA, RA Apply early so you enter the enlisted among candidates to be funded Apply to at least 4 schools Apply to at least 2 schools that are safe( safe schools are schools that matches your profile perfectly) Immediately after you get admit. Contact your Grad Cord and inquire if there is any application you need to turn in or if any additional document is needed for you to get a funding decision. Pray |

gbeje: Thank you Brown2Green. Meanwhile, can I use a corporate account to process anoda I-20 and present same for my interview? Or is corporate account a red flag for interview? You can present more than one SOA if you feel the sum in one is insufficient as far as the information on the SOA matches that on the I20. If the cooperate account is for a company, there will need to be a document in the company letter head bearing your name that it will fund you with a specific sum.. To the best of my knowledge, that's feasible. If the cooperate account is personal, then its very well. |

Shout out to Lagosismyhome, Brown2Green, Time2win, Walspring and gosh I miss Twoods. You guys have been awesome because with how busy things get in the US and u still make out time to help others, God bless u guys.
And to the other applicants out there, Abeg! Make una try to get some sort of Assistantship, GA, TA or anything before applying. Even if ya papa be Dangote, paying tuition as an international student doesnt come cheap. It's not easy to drop that money and the VOs know this. Things ain't cheap in the US as no one will spare u a dime. So guys plan things well before you travel.
I wish all the recently approved a safe journey to Trumpland. Boss I hail Abeg which state you dey? |

sharwama: TALE OF AN APPROVED VISA Written by Miss Sharwama I remember my heart pounding as I had my bath at 4:30 a.m. yesterday. I was so afraid, I couldn’t even sponge properly. I kept asking myself, “Sharwama after all the noise you have been making on NL, what if you get denied?” “What if you stutter and can’t make eye contact with the VO”… As I applied cream on my chocolate skin, I remember hearing a very gentle voice “Sharwama be still and know that I am God, I have gone ahead of you to make the crooked places straight”. This really gave me courage. My uncle drove me to the embassy; my interview was at 6:30 a.m. and I got there right on time. I followed all the processes and protocol kini and then I came face-to-face with the visa officer. I paid no attention to the window number. I said a mental prayer “Father, the hour has come, glorify your daughter” and the Lord spoke to me “Sharwama, I have glorified you before and I will do it again”.
VO: Good morning and how are you? Sharwama: Good morning. I am not sure how I feel; I have butterflies in my stomach. VO: (Smiles) I understand how you feel, this won’t take much time. Pass me your I-20, passport and SEVIS receipt (I did) VO: Why do you need this visa? Sharwama: I want to pursue a masters in Biology Program at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee. I can’t do that if my visa isn’t approved. VO: I see here that your sponsor is your mother but you also have a graduate assistantship, I am impressed! Sharwama: I am glad you are. VO: I will be approving your visa (hands me the white paper with circled location. Gave me back my I-20 and SEVIS receipt. Said the whole tyonteugdfvcvnm, jklpewszxcvbnmi but I didn’t hear anything. When she was done talking, I was still staring at her. The next person was already behind me) VO: You can leave now Sharwama: Is that all? You didn’t ask why I chose ETSU, the schools I applied to, what I have been doing since, you didn’t ask my study plan or even what this degree would do for me or my plans after completion? (She was about interrupting but I burst into tears) Sharwarma: Do you know how much the bank charged my sponsor in order to print statements of her multiple accounts? Or the stress it took to colour-print my GRE and TOEFL scores? I nearly had an accident you know. So what would I do with these papers now? Maybe you don’t know this, but I spent the last three months of my life, waking up in the middle of the night to rehearse for this interview and all you did was ask THREE questions? Would you please interview me again? Her mouth was wide open, her eyes were all out of the socket, and she was in utter shock! Next, a security officer approached me. I knew he would show me out. As he led me, I tightly held on to the white paper and my documents. For some reason, I turned to the VO and saw her smiling at me. I wiped my tears and smiled back. Right there in that moment, I knew she would go to bed with memories of a crazy girl who had her F1 visa approved effortlessly and just couldn’t believe it. Yes, I remember tasting something in my mouth, kinda tasted like Ribena and I kept licking my mouth till I opened my eyes and saw Martins, my little nephew with Ribena in his hands. It was 7:30 a.m.; I jumped out of bed, knowing I would be late for work. I hurriedly had my bath, brushed my teeth, there was no time for the normal early morning pooing. I ran out of the house, stopped Keke and entered. As he drove me, I couldn’t help but smile. Although, I knew my boss would query me for coming late, I was grateful because my beautiful dream was worth it… Written by the girl who keeps seeing V.O’s in her sleep. Inspired by samdgreat2011’s approved visa Congrats dear I will like to connect with you. |

Vikkychase01: Evening all. I have been a silent follower of this thread and I feel it’s important for me to share my experience to help guide others. I got an admission at Lincoln University in California for my MBA, Summer 2019 to be precise My interview took place today. 7am
VO: pass me your passport and I20 Me: I passed the documents VO: oh you are going to Lincoln University Me: yes VO: Do you have pictures of the school? Me: No I don’t VO: have you seen the school before Me: Yes VO: Describe What the front looks like? Me: It has a beautiful front with a gate...Honestly I was surprised to hear this question, so I just said something VO: It doesn’t have a gate, I have seen it before, I know what it looks like... VO: Why are you going to the US Me: I am going for my master of business administration program with a concentration in...VO cuts in VO: How many schools did you apply to Me: 2 VO: Name them Me: Lincoln University and Louisiana State Uni VO: Why Lincoln Me: Lincoln University is affordable and... VO cuts in VO: Did you take any standardized test Me: No, it was waived VO: You are not qualified and she handed me the yellow paper.
Please kindly advice on the way forward Lincoln University? Affordable? You started on the wrong foot bro. I believe the VO expected to hear about the quality of the course and school . Cost comes later. The VO sha! I know a lot of VOs don't joke with Tests like the GRE or GMAT. But you should have a better reason of choosing Lincoln rather than the cost. |

makaba10: I am guessing it’s because I am majoring in Software Engineering. At the 3rd interview the VO asked how much a software engineer earns in Nigeria. How was your response to the question in the pay? The VO was already in a bad frame and couldn't see the brighter side of things. Your having 3 denials within such short time frame made the VO to have such impression. You might want to try again with another VO that will listen to you. And have sufficient reasons for the change of program and why you need the masters degree back here in Nigeria. You have a nice funding in the bag to get the white paper if you put yourself in order. |

ME: 27 Then she handed the yellow paper to me. A very short interview. What could have been wrong please? You would not expect her to spend more than 30 seconds on this . if you had a very low GPA that you think cannot be used for the pursuit of a graduate degree, then take your time to build it here in Nigeria by going for a Post Graduate degree . I don't see any other reason why you at 27 with a first degree will be going for another. |

mykolalekan: Please NL, i need a clarification from anyone that has applied or currently enrolled at University of New Haven. I applied to University of New Haven in December, 2018 to study MS Finance for the 2019 fall entry without a request to pay for application fee, I do not know if this is the norm? , I also got a waiver for GMAT, IELTS and 40% scholarship on my tuition fee. In addition, I received my my I20 last week through UPS without paying a dime. I have read here where people are paying to receive their I20, just a bit confused about this.
The school also sent me a form online to fill my interview date once it has been scheduled. I am just worried if these are the unique traditions of the school Lots of schools cover the expense for I20 delivery. You got a Waiver on IELTS/TOEFL because you're Nigerian and regarded as proficient in English. You got the GMAT waiver I strongly believe , because you have work experience between 3 to 5 years or above. |
