Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara says he has accepted the terms of the peace deal brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the complex matter involving his predecessor.

His decision to resolve the protracted political crisis in the state follows a face-off between him and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who is the immediate past governor of Rivers

Fubara conveyed his decision to accept the peace pact in a statewide broadcast to mark the 2023 Christmas celebration.

According to the governor, the presidential intervention has helped to give room for resolution of the political war in the state.

Fubara, who acknowledged that the directives had ignited mixed reactions from indigenes and residents, said he has taken much time to examine the terms of the pact and that it is not as bad as perceived by people.

He also said the parties involved have taken bold steps in the implementation of the proclamation, and “there was no price too high for peace.”

He said: “As a principal participant in the entire saga, I have taken some time to study the terms therein and have come to the conclusion that the Peace Pact is not as bad as it is being portrayed by those genuinely opposed to it. It is certainly not a death sentence. It offers some way towards lasting peace and stability in our dear state.

“Accordingly, I reaffirm my acceptance of the Presidential Peace Proclamation and my commitment to implementing both the spirit and letters of the declaration in such a way and manner that will restore political stability to our dear state without compromising the collective interest of our people and our cherished and shared democratic values.”

Federal Government said it will take possession of two banks that were allegedly bought at a major discount by former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, according to a report by a special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu.

“We have completed our investigation on this acquisition and we are on the verge of recovering these two banks for the federal government,” the report said.

Emefiele was suspended shortly after Tinubu took office in late May, and was later arrested and detained on charges including fraud. The Nigerian leader subsequently ordered an investigation into the monetary authority’s operations and instructed it to work with security and anti-corruption agencies.

Emefiele met his bail conditions and was released Saturday, Punch Newspapers reported, citing a correctional spokesperson.

The former central banker acquired two banks including Union Bank of Nigeria and Keystone Bank through several proxies from “ill-gotten wealth” and “without evidence of payment,” according to the report by Jim Obazee submitted to the president and seen by Bloomberg.

A preliminary review of the cases showed that Keystone was “acquired for free,” according to the report. “Some persons were used as proxies with the connivance and assistance of Godwin Emefiele and the CBN to acquire” the two banks.

Emefiele has denied wrongdoing. His lawyers declined to comment on the investigation’s findings and a government spokesman did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.

A South African lady has revealed that her husband divorced her six months into their marriage due to his insecurities and lack of trust for her.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that the year 2024 would be glorious for every Nigerian.

She spoke on Saturday at the State House while delivering her Christmas message after holding a party for the children of Nana Berry Orphanage in Abuja.

Mrs Tinubu advised parents to continue to give hope to their wards and stop talking about poverty in front of children.

The former lawmaker said[i]: “As we go into the year 2024, our message should be how to transform the lives of the young ones.[/i]

“Whoever we are, we should stop talking about poverty in front of our children; we are not a poor nation; the wealthy ones should also take care of the poor ones and make them wealthy; that is all it takes.

“We have taken the issue of poverty out of context and it is really polluting the hearts of the young ones, but we have to give them hope and show them the life that is positive. We are entering a glorious year and those who believe that it is going to be glorious will enjoy it.”

The wife of President Bola Tinubu went on to tell the orphaned kids a Bible story, wherein she stressed the need for parents to also imbibe the habit of teaching their children good morals.

She added; “Parents are supposed to tell the children Christmas stories; that is what we all grow up with. For this year’s Christmas, we have decided to change the trajectory of what Christmas represents in the State House.

“For us in this dispensation, we have to adopt a home per year; next year, another orphanage home would come so that the children can have a sense of well-being and give them a sense of belonging.

Men of the Zone 2 Police Command, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, have apprehended one Moshood Najimdeen ‘m’ at his residence in Oke-Ola area of Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State with two suspected human hearts.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of Zone 2 Police command, SP Ayuba Tunni Umma, said the suspected human part was discovered during a search at Naresiden’s residence.

‘’During interrogation, the suspect implicated one Adebanjo Wasiu ‘m’, whom he claimed to have paid Fifty Thousand Naira (₦50,000.00) to assist in obtaining the two human hearts. Adebanjo Wasiu ‘m’, in turn, pointed to one Segun Asunni ‘m’, as the source of the hearts.

Former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has been invited by the police over her alleged failure to return a rented wig to a wig vendor.

Recall that a hair vendor recently accused Phyna of renting a wig from her and refusing to return it after the agreed-upon date.

Phyna initially denied the allegations, but later said that she returned the wig after she was called out but the hair vendor rejected it. She added that she decided to keep the wig because the damage the hair vendor did to her was more than the price of the wig.

Updating her fans, Phyna said the hair vendor visited her house with police when she was not around and dropped a letter for her.

Phyna said, “Yesterday, my younger sister called me and said I’ve visitors in my house. I asked who they were and she said two policemen, the hairstylist and one woman. I asked who the woman was but she said she doesn’t know the woman. “

A Nigerian man, Abraham Basif Omaye has died three days to his wedding.

Abraham and his fiancé, Praise Enyojo Ahmodu, were set to wed on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at CEFN English Church in Abejukolo village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Their engagement ceremony was scheduled for Friday, December 22, at the bride’s compound in Abejukolo.

Friends and family members took to Facebook on Wednesday, December 20, to mourn the deceased.

An Illinois boy was found beaten and starved at his home before he tragically died in hospital had a sign on his bedroom door read: ‘Don’t give Navin any food.’

Navin Jones, eight, was found unresponsive in a skeletal and emaciated state at his Peoria home on March 29, 2022. His father now faces up to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder – while his mom already pleaded guilty to the heinous crime.

The little boy weighed just 30 pounds, and he was found in a locked room that was covered in urine and feces. He had signs of physical abuse across his face, body, arms, and legs.

A note on Navin’s bedroom door read: ‘Don’t give Navin any food or drink. Do not let him out of the room. He has what he needs until I wake up.’

Prosecutors said that the boy’s room was disgusting and deplorable, with just a bed and one toy, while the rest of the home on North Gale Avenue was ‘well furnished’ with a fully stocked fridge and pantry.

His mother Stephanie Jones, 37, faces at least 20 years in prison when she is sentenced next February
In return for her guilty plea, State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos agreed not to give her a life sentence.

Jones has now agreed to testify against the boy’s father Brandon Walker, 41. His trial is ongoing.

Body cam footage has since revealed the moment that Peoria police showed up to Jones and Walker’s home after Jones called 911 to report Navin was cold and lifeless.

Officers in the clip immediately take issue with Jones’ story and the state of the boy’s body.

Stephanie, the mother, is seen sitting on the steps of the home, crying into her hands, while smoking a cigarette.

When the father is told that there is a chance the child cannot be resuscitated, Brandon runs to a car, smashes his fists onto the hood, and shouts: ‘There’s no f**king way.’

Bodycam inside the home showed the clutter – but also the bare room that Navin had been living in.

Rope, used to keep his door shut, was visible, as was a note written to his older brother by one of his parents, saying not to feed Navin.

Before being in the care of his mother and father, Navin was being looked after by his legal guardian, his grandmother, Laura Walker. She had been doing so since the boy was just five months old.

After briefly leaving Washington in July 2021, she returned to find Walker and Jones refusing to give the boy back to her.

In an attempt to get the boy back under her watch, Laura Walker contacted the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Washington Police Department, and the Peoria Peoria Department.

She said that nothing changed despite her efforts.

A South African court has ruled that the government’s recognition of the king of the Zulu nation last year was unlawful, potentially setting off a new succession battle.

The Pretoria high court ordered the president, Cyril Ramaphosa, to set up an inquiry to investigate whether the tumultuous accession of King Misuzulu Zulu took place in line with customary laws.

After the death of his father, Misuzulu, 49, was named in 2021 as monarch for the more than 10 million Zulu people living in South Africa. For his traditional coronation he had to wait 15 months until August 2022 following feuding over the succession. His father, Goodwill Zwelithini, died in March 2021 after a reign of more than 50 years.

Misuzulu’s older brother, Prince Simakade, sought the ruling, which said the presidential recognition of the Zulu king “was unlawful and invalid and the recognition decision is hereby set aside”.

At a large party in October 2022, Ramaphosa gave Misuzulu a giant framed certificate officially recognising him as the ruler of the country’s richest and most influential traditional monarchy.

King Zwelithini had six wives and at least 28 children. Misuzulu is the first son of his third wife, whom he designated as regent in his will. But the queen died suddenly a month after her husband, leaving a will naming Misuzulu as king.

Before Ramaphosa’s state ceremony, Zwelithini’s eldest son, who was born out of wedlock, filed an emergency lawsuit claiming he was the rightful heir. Brothers of Zwelithini also claimed the throne for another contender.

South Africa’s constitution recognises traditional rulers and chiefs, and they wield significant moral authority.

The convoy of Gov Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State reportedly knocked dead an undergraduate of the State University, Ebube Akah, on Friday, 1st December, alongside a commercial motorcyclist in Abakaliki, the state capital.

It was learnt that the Governor was not in the convoy of the three cars at the time of the incident, and the deceased family is demanding justice.

Tragedy struck when the motorcycle he boarded was hit by a car in Nwifuru’s convoy that had gone to pick up the Governor’s children from school.

He said Ebube and the motorcyclist, identified as Shahabilu, an indigene of Zamfara State, died at the scene of the accident.

According to the deceased’s family, the police, in a bid to cover up the crime, deposited Ebube’s remains as “unknown” at the Federal Medical Teaching Hospital morgue in Abakaliki, despite having his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards on him.

Akah further accused the police of removing the SIM cards from his brother’s phone to prevent any phone calls from the family, adding that the undergraduate’s corpse was found at the morgue after two days of fruitless search in the city and beyond.

He said, "The Governor’s ride that went for school runs for the Governor’s children, knocked down Ebube with the bike man, and they both died instantly.

“Despite having his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards on him, the police, in a bid to cover up my brother’s death, registered his corpse as unknown at the morgue.

“We never knew about this until Sunday morning, when we got information that the person we had been looking for had the same looks and the same clothes as the person involved in that accident.

“This Friday makes it one week since my brother was killed, and we are yet to hear from the Governor or anybody from the government, knowing full well that the car that knocked him down with the bike belongs to the Governor and the government.

“Augustina Ogbodo, the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, met with members of the Akah family on Monday, but no action has been taken regarding the accident.

“The commissioner of police in Ebonyi State is aware of this, but she’s playing to the government’s tune.”

The police spokesperson in Ebonyi State, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident but failed to respond to specific allegations against the police.

She said, “I am currently in Abuja but I have forwarded your enquiry to the Commissioner of Police. The family of the deceased are already meeting with the commissioner.”

Many Nigerians are left in disbelief after popular money doubling scheme, MMM, makes a comeback into the Nigerian market as MMM Krypto.

The popular money doubling scheme was the rage around 2016 and 2017 and the NDIC reported that three million Nigerians lost 18 billion Naira to the corporation.

Many of the victims were left wretched and one of the participants of the scheme, Ada Kole, committed suicide after losing 750,000 Naira to them shortly before his wedding.

The Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (MMM) was shut down in 2018 following the death of its founder, Henry Mavrodi from a heart attack.

The company is now trying to make a comeback as MMM Krypto, and they had a recent meeting on December 2, 2023, in Durban, South Africa.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has urged his supporters to be focused ahead of the December 15 Supreme Court judgment regarding his incarceration.

He asked them to be vigilant against any plot by those he referred to as ‘fifth columnists’ to “rock the boat” before the judgment.

According to his Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu passed the message across to his followers during a meeting with his legal team at the Abuja facility of the Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday.

Recall that in June 2021, Kanu was rearrested in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition.

Upon his return to Nigeria, the Federal Government had arraigned Kanu on a four-count pre-rendition charge.

The former Attorney-General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, withdrew all but one of the four counts in the charge and replaced them with 14-count charge, bordering on terrorism and membership of a proscribed organization.

In the course of time, the Federal High Court, pursuant to applications made, reduced the charges to seven-counts, which were later quashed by the Court of Appeal.

Despite being discharged and acquitted, the Nigerian Government has refused to set Kanu free.

In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Ejimakor wrote, “UPDATE: I just exited today’s visitation with Onyendu #MNK in the company of my colleague, Barr Mandela.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ozekhome, was fined N40 million by the Supreme Court on Tuesday for bringing insignificant, annoying, and irksome motions before the court concerning the Imo governorship contest that has been determined since 2019.

Ozekhome was fined for filing a plea with the supreme court to reinstate the lawsuit that ousted Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha in 2019.

In a verdict, Justice Tijani Abubakar mandated that the senior attorney personally pay the N40 million fine to each of the four respondents he brought before the court.

The members of the Action People’s Party (APP), Uche Nnadi, Uche Nwosu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are the ones that have to pay.

Ozekhome had requested a subsequent order to force INEC to grant Ihedioha a new Certificate of Return so he could serve as Imo Governor for four years, but the court deemed his move frivolous.

His complaint was that Senator Hope Uzodinma, the current governor, had illegally squandered the four years that Ihedioha was supposed to serve.

Among other things, Ozekhome stated in the motion that Uzodinmma shouldn’t have been elected governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the party didn’t field a candidate in the 2019 Imo State governorship race.

The top court, however, denied the motion, stating that it lacked the authority to consider it.

The request was deemed unusual, silly, unfounded, unjustified, vexatious, and irritating by Justice Abubakar in her ruling.

He further maintained that the move was a premeditated attempt to discredit the Supreme Court.

Renowned Nigerian Actress, Moet Abebe, opened up about her relationship status, confidently stating that she remains single at 34 due to the lack of understanding exhibited by most men.

The actress bemoaned that most guys “don’t have sense,” adding that she hasn’t yet met a “sensible man.”

Nigerian man, Darosha Losobeh, who is the cousin and personal assistant to the late Nigerian artiste, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has spoken about the late singer.

Darosha Losobeh broke his silence on the viral video of the singer’s coffin allegedly showing he had a broken neck.

Recall that the ex-Marlian record signee died at the age of 27 on September 12, and his death has stirred controversy with many Nigerians calling for justice for his sudden demise, leading to the arrest of his former boss, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley and Samson Balogun aka Sam Larry.

The duo who were allegedly arrested for bullying the late singer have been released.

However, Mohbad’s friend, Primeboy, and the nurse who allegedly injected the late singer are still in police custody because they were tagged prime suspects in the case.

Reacting to the allegations of a broken neck from netizens on his Instagram story on Saturday, Darosha declared that he was not the one who broke the late artiste’s neck while begging those peddling the information to desist from it because it was affecting his mental health.

He wrote, “I’m so down to the extent that I had to write this up to clear this whole damn story about me going online that I bend my love’s neck; this is the craziest and saddest thing that ever happened to me, my whole life. That I broke my brother’s neck, seriously, this hurt me so much.

“What happened about the neck was that when we got to Ikorodu, we were told there was no space to keep his body at the mortuary, and we didn’t want him buried that night, so a worker there advised the family to pay for an ambulance and a coffin where we can keep him till morning and the same ambulance would drive him down to the place of burial.

“The whole family agreed to the idea because the ambulance that took us to Ikorodu was complaining that they had to leave the same night back to the island. It was only his mum that was not present there that midnight.”

Continuing, the late singer’s cousin stressed that the only issue that brought him into the picture was that he paid for the arrangement of the coffin and ambulance, maintaining that he never knew that the coffin was too small to contain his (Mohbad) whole body.

“The whole family saw his body in the ambulance before leaving for the burial ground in the morning, and no one complained about his head or anything. I didn’t go close to the ambulance because I was in shock, so I didn’t know of his neck until I saw it online, and that saddened me.

“The N1million I sent to his dad is not for him to spend because it was instructed that we should use the money in doing the burial arrangement, but unfortunately, the place we buried him is not nice to me and not secured, so I told his father to use the money to erect a fence for his safety. The whole team and family can testify to this because I have every proof, and I sent his brother the rest of the money when we arrived home."

Toke Makinwa who recently had a lavish 39th birthday party graced by big names in the Nigerian entertainment industry raises eyebrows with her doing as she also graces the ongoing COP28 filled with world leaders and climate activists.

COP28 also known as 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC is being hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a view to building on previous successes and paving the way for future ambition to effectively tackle the global challenge of climate change.
