I answered that Although justwise truncated some part.
quote author=Lollipop1234 post=64738502][I used Doc.Joel Bonaparte quote author=OnJosh1 post=64708398]Please people of GOD can anyone recommend a good Pediatrician for circumcision here in Houston? Had my baby at Oakbend. Or should I simply wait till we get to Nigeria? Baby will be 6weeks then. I shudder at the thought of the pain but I'm worried about doing it twice as I've heard not so good reports about circumcision done here. My brother's baby and my friend's baby had to be redone back home in Nigeria after first attempt here in Houston and El Paso respectively were not done properly... Not the same hospitals though.
Pls pls I appreciate your prompt response.
|

Hmm ....JFK kwa don dey act James bond. This shows that any POE can decide to act otherwise. This tells us that no matter your POE, just be prepared. I wish your Wifey safe delivery. JAZES: to say this thread has been helpful to my journey with my family is an understatement. This has to be the most educative and informative thread on nairaland in my own opinion.......
Let me quickly share my poe experience:
As soon as we landed @ jfk on 29th Aug, 3 police officers walk up to us: Officers: Hello Me: Hello Officers: What are u guys here for? (for my mind i dey think say una no go even let us enter first?) Me : Vacation and my wife is here to give birth Officers: Oh your wife is pregnant? Me: Yes she is Officers: thats cool- what do u know about female circumcision? Me: I told them what i know about it in my own little understanding and my wife also did the same Officers: Are u in support of it? Me : Support ke? No o ( At this point i come ask them if they are the immigration officers cos we have not even scanned our passport yet) Officers: they quickly say no that they are just doing a survey on female circumcision Me: I said oh ok
Meanwhile , why they are asking us questions the other lady who is one of the officers (by the way all of them are ladies) was taking down note from my response like say they one write jamb exams. Anyways, to cut the long story short, they led us to another officer who now started another round of questions and ask to see our correspondence with d doctor and ask how much we have on us- the officer later said we should proceed to the immigration that he is sure they will let us in.
As soon as we got there, they ask me to submit my passport and that of my family. I was taken to another room for another round of questions while my wife and kids stayed outside.
I was kept on the waiting list with other folks for close to 2hrs b4 i was called in, they asked the same questions the ladies asked me and some of the ones they asked when we went for d interview in Lagos.
Long story short, i was eventually stamped in for 6months and surprisingly when i stepped outside, my wife told me they have already stamped her passport and that of the kids at the point they took me inside. That they immediately handed her d passports and that of the kids and ask her to go wait for me.
In all, i just want to say thank u to everyone who has contributed to this thread and share their wealth of knowledge with us all- i hope that my own experience will inspire others who are aspiring to go on this journey too. Cheers |

baldman: Thanks so much Babatwi,
We have both been to dubai and I should be going to London in few weeks. I understand it will cost on the average about $10-12k for the trip. I am quite concerned about having immediate family in the US, how much of a disadvantage is this? As you said, nothing ventured, nothing gained, but I really have to be sure I stand a chance at all before putting in my N120k ( Visa for 2). you can as well sponsor her trip and you be here so you can act as a tie here in Nigeria. While she is there, you can apply for your visa. My thoughts thou. .. |

I don't think you need anyone to fill your application form or"travel experts"". I think one has to be very careful while filling your forms and cross check be4 d final submission. Some of these agents sometimes compound your issues by giving wrong advice or fake documents and at the end of the day it comes around to bite the applicant. By then , the damage has been done. Just be truthful and filled your application form with all sincerity That my own opinion. |

Chanbaby: Yes I told them I was self paid and I'm paying cash cos I'm an international patient. The person that referred me told me she paid $30 so I insisted on the $30 price beside I don't live there so I don't have a monthly income just filled $200. Besides there are several hope clinics and they said their price ranges from $30- $75. Maybe the city where u used them is more expensive. That's why u paid $100. No wahala. ....for me, I didn't insist on $30.... The thing wey we Dey talk Na to avoid stories that touch the heart as per next time . Atleast we don trash am out.it's left for those who want to use hope clinic in future to know what to do and fill. For me, I no fill any income things. If people want to fill any income and you know you ain't suppose to... Then ...... Ya gazie.... |

debby516: In my opinion, one shld just avoid them, especially with Twoods' defination of Federal something something I guess you are right.avoid if you can or just tell the truth and pay the bill. I wasn't given any form to fill any income stuff becos I told them i don't fall into that category. So I was given another form for just my baby's details and I saw the doctor. This was baby's 2wks appointment. Used Dr hassen earlier but moved to Richmond so I needed a closer Dr. |

Flowers: I used Dr. Rubina Khan the last time but the clinic was really far from where I stayed. She's such a great person and really helpful. I won't mind a cheaper paed that is near now. However this paperwork and low income thing I don't know I used hope clinic last year and I told the truth that I am an international patient and will pay cash. I paid $100 for Baby's 2wks visit which also included test(2wks blood work). I believe one should be truth Cos actually if you are not a citizen then why should you fill a low income ....... Its not right. In this thread we encourage being truthful...... So one can still use hope clinic. Just tell them you are self pay international patient ...simply.. |

Dear customer, ensure that payments for int'l card transactions (ATM, POS and WEB) are made in the local currency of the country of visit or foreign website where transaction is taking place. By paying in Naira you may be billed at a lower rate than our bank's approved rate and the difference will be recovered from your account. 012769676 Just received this from my bank...Stanbic ibtc So beware!!! for all my fellow mates shopping from amazon... Nasadiva: *cough * ehhh I guess you are mixing up the hospital contact. Methodist Sugarland is a different hospital from Oakbend medical. Kindly clarify. No dear. I am not mixing it up. His office is in the building where Dr Dama consults. He is Dr hasinin. He is not affiliated with oakbend hospital. Rather he can come to see d baby while you are in Methodist sugarland...you can continue afterwards but he is expensive...so I just went to hope clinic after discharge which is actually optional. ..that to see a Dr after discharge. But I did. Just be sure abt LO. |
