We Nigerians need to pay attention!

shortgun:So, you first decide and judge that the Sultan of Sokoto is an unbeliever that will perish in hell for eternity, and then you decide to win his soul to "your Christ" ? Did Christ also tell you to not love your unbelieving neighbour too, because this your saving is definitely not love, and its a great pity that you do not seem to understand the point of your Christ telling you to go and do likewise as the unbelieving good Samaritan is written to have done while the supposed believers just walked on by and did nothing.

KnowledgePower7:I respectfully think you should spend some time researching those two words, "respect" and "fear", because, while I am fully aware the two are conflated, especially in our Nigerian culture, the two words do not mean the same thing. I respect my children, does obviously not mean I fear my children, and being afraid of a lion does not mean I respect the lion that I fear. In fact, you may respect me in our conversation in this thread, but I very much doubt you fear or are afraid of me, since you very well know that there is absolutely nothing I can do to you to make you fear me. I hope. If you respect someone or something because you fear that thing or person, you will not respect them when they become powerless over you and can no more do to you what you feared they might do. |
TheNobleProphet:No, I will not take myself out of this thread. Stop begging me. Note how I stopped being your brother because I've told you I'm not a Christian, nor your man for that matter, which just shows how your mind functions, or not, lol. Pretty much how you see Muslims as not you neighbours too, if I'm asked, which is why you call them terrorists and want to separate from them. |
press9jatv:I am listening to you, and I hear you too. I'm just not taking your word for it and believing it, because there is contrary evidence, as I have posted above. Adeleke can not have a share in an allocation that he is not receiving from the federal government, because a share of zero allocation is zero naira. |
jaxxy:This is what I am hearing too. The way my cousin, a finance director in an Osun State local government, put it to me yesterday was, "he who pays the pipers is whom people will vote for". He also reminded me that the largest employer in Osun State is government, and that I should know how Osun people suffer when local government employees are not paid. I was not local government staff during Aregbe, but the suffering of local government staff in my family and neighbourhood made it difficult for me to put food in my own mouth despite being able to afford whatever I wanted. I was empathising and lost about 10 kilograms and it almost killed me. |
ayoncox:I wish you were my Osun State governor during Aregbesola's term. He told the local government staff that they must reduce workforce because he can not afford to pay everyone, but the staff did not agree. "How can we sack staff when local government pay is all an entire extended family may have to live on?" They asked. So they negotiated that he pay the half he could afford, and when things get better he can pay what he owes. Aregbe paid half salary for a few months, and then started paying half every two months and sometimes every three till he left as governor. You should have seen the poverty that swept my own home town. Now I hear Adeleke is paying full salary and a little of what Aregbe owed them every month, and I too I'm wondering where he is finding the money. |
Cmanforall:Of course this information is verifiable. One just need do the work to verify it oneself. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/826351-supreme-court-reserves-judgement-in-suit-over-osuns-withheld-local-govt-allocations.html And I know they pay because my cousin who works for the local government is receiving his salary, and other members of my family who are local government staff are not crying to me like thet are not paid. But please don't take my word for it. Find an Osun State local government employee to confirm if paid or not, and come tell.

ChizzyBuna:What you are describing as absolute respect is more fear than anything else. And perhaps I'm just the 2% you left out. Nigerian parents can, or rather, do definitely demand absolute respect from their children, but that's no guarantee they'll get it. But I'm not your parent, so, despite the probable fact that I am likely to be twice your age, I'm very certain you will disrespect me if I don't respect myself and disrespect you. You after all are a human being who deserves respect, so why should my age give me license to disrespect you? Perhaps those Nigerian parents you mention need to learn to respect their children. Because, those children learn from what they see their parents do, and if they show disrespect to their children that's what their children will learn to do to others. My African Nigerian parents respect me their child, so I have learnt as well as I can to respect others regardless of their age, gender, color, wealth, etc., unless they show they don't deserve it, then gloves off. P.s. I have commented on Nairaland like 40k times, so you can read my post history and share or quote the ones where I have been disrespectful to see if I walk my talk, at least more than I don't, and where I haven't, if it is deserved. |
givedemwotowoto:Hamas is an islamic political organisation fighting for the political freedom of Palestinians, even if we do not like how they go about it. If Israel were oppressing me like they oppress Palestinians and steal their land, I will terrorise Israel too. And if Nigeria were oppressing Biafra and stealing land from Biafrans, I will blow Abuja and Lagos, note. Thankfully, Nigeria is doing no such thing. |
TheNobleProphet:And I am suggesting to you that they are not Muslims. And calling terrorists Muslims is like calling Branch Davidians and Alamo Christian Foundation Christians, even if that is what they call themselves. Please know that it is my own opinion that a person is not a Christian if they can not do the simplest of things like love their neighbours, no matter how much they fast and pray and claim to believe. Also know that me quoting Bible does not mean I am a Christian, for I am indeed not, nor a Muslim.

thesicilian:I think this doctor has shown he is not smart at all. If he were smart, he'd have just paid olosho instead. But I guess his particular demented passion is for minors, for which he'd now rot in jail and not ever be able to practice his doctoring in any country worth its salt. UK will even report him to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) so he can't practise there neither. And any country he goes to will first check with them. I wouldn't use the word smart to describe this fool who has thrown away his liberty and the means of earning his pay. |
press9jatv:I think you need to visit my own Orolu Kingdom that has not functioned since February. I am glad and very delighted that "Lg autonomy has come to stay". State still manages the payroll however, since every lg can't. |
TheNobleProphet:If that were true, they would not be attacking Muslims, which I hope you know they do. Besides, one should be looking at their fruits, and not just want they say.
|
press9jatv:Not the Orolu Local Government, which has not been functioning since the APC chairman lost the election and refused to step down and got his supporters to burn the local government property. |
cococandy:They call it 'alternative facts', but its just plain lies. |
ChizzyBuna:"Older people opinion" should not be respected just because they are older, is what I'm saying. If I am older than you and my opinion is nonsense, you should not respect my opinion. And if I am older than you and you talk sense (or even nonsense), I should respect you even if I do not respect your opinion. I should respect you regardless of your age, since I can respectfully disagree with your opinion. I after all should respect my own children though I am much older than them and they sometimes talk nonsense. |
|
ChizzyBuna:This is why I wouldn't agree that seun use age as his hierarchy determinant, as it does not imply wisdom. In fact, hierarchy itself does not imply wisdom, and should just be a thing of vanity, and not a thing to respect. |
press9jatv:Why? I've been told local government staff have been on strike since February and the state has not been receiving their allocation, yet wages are being paid, including some owed by the past APC government. (Note, this needs confirmation please). While the APC government Adeleke took over from paid half wages every three months. Will Osun State want to return to ⅛ of their annual wage where the state is the largest employer? |
TheNobleProphet:You can't keep me off this topic! If you know, as you stated, that the Quran does not teach people to be terrorists, why call the terrorists Muslims instead of criminals? Nigeria is not dividing anywhere, so learn to love your neighbours! TheNobleProphet: |
Teethomas:This must be why some Nigerian parents don't care or show they love their partners and children, because they fear their children will misbehave if they love or care for them, when the truth is that merely believing the above shows they don't care nor love at all. Teethomas:Yes, Teethomas, people who do believe what you've written above, which sadly is what many believe, are indeed not emotionally matured. And I hope they learn from mature you who has pointed this out to them, that they will indeed reap whatever they sow. |
TheNobleProphet:So, you know its obviously not the Quran, yet you call them "Islamic Terrorists"? I wonder if you'd call a pastor a Christian if he murders his neighbours. Work a bit more on your supposed honesty please, is what I need say to you. And consider this thread by IROHINOodua. If might make you wonder about the oppressed Hausa Muslims (and Christians) too. https://www.nairaland.com/8572209/hausas-call-divorce-fulani-domination#137649118 |
Finally! I'm rather amazed that many Nigerians do not see that the Hausas have been colonised, and never gained independence when Nigeria was supposed to. I guess many don't realise the Fulani were foreigners just as the British were, and have kept the Hausas down with religion ever since. Having to read the Quran in Arabic is no different to the ancient imposition of the Catholic Church imposing Latin reading of the Bible before Luther and Guttenberg. Translating it to local languages was like Eve eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and freeing herself and Adam from naked ignorant slavery in Eden. But then, a lot don't understand Adam was a naked ignorant slave neither, and think he was the same creation in God's Image, despite their mode of creation and duties and rewards differing. |
Faber:Its odd he does not see the benefit of hierarchy of some sort, though it has its pitfalls too. |
Thegamingorca:Not, "he thinks". He is trying commendably very hard. And McLaren want to leave the door open so it's very easy for him. |

US Senators should continue to visit sites bombed by Israel in Palestine, especially since Israel would not let journalists into Palestine to report what Israel is hiding from us. The senators themselves might not do anything, but them going there ensures we hear what Israel has done, and some Americans might decide to do something to those who support Israel, like not vote in the next election for those who support Israel. |
I don't understand people who run away from justice in UK and return later thinking UK will forget. Do they think UK has little regard for history and record keeping like Nigeria might, I wonder. |
CyynthiaKiss:Including the ones in your own family? You should let them know so they can be wary of you too. |
CyynthiaKiss:Are all Christians the same too? In fact, are you and your siblings the same, or are you just deceiving yourself? |
