Do you really believe people put themselves into this sort of things, that it is always some sort of self inflicted hell? undecided
I bet he doesn't, junkie, and it's just a slip of mind.

Haven't you ever had them where you go back and read and should a wrote that better and almost cringed, lol.

You can't erase them, Hell. You are even writing them down here so you can always remember because they are your treasures, as in the experiences that are making you unique.

What water do you use?

And how often do you change it?

Do you add any nutrients?

This is a thread to celebrate my first plant. I could barely take care of myself so I’ve never thought of looking after anything! Not a child, not a pet, not a plant.

Then one day I was making guacamole 🥑 and I looked at the avocado seed and thought; I wonder if I could grow this?

I live in a cold country so it’s never going to grow into an avocado tree that blooms and grows fruits. But I saw YouTube videos on bonze/bonsai style avocado trees. I’m hooked!

My baby is called Bionic-boy and he will be 5 months old on the 13th of December.
Did you grow this without soil?

Youtubes please, as I go searching.

And there is me dreaming of our masquerades coming to UK to show off our culture and heritage.

Oyinbo will pay tons just to see us, but of course our whip will need to be in jest since they will pay in advance.

If we are smart, we could even make it an annual celebration like the West Indians have done with carnival. Unfortunately, we Nigerians hardly work together like the numerous Caribbean Islands do.

This is timely, because I want to ethically hack banks that deduct unnecessary charges from my bank account, and ethically hack loan apps so I don't have to pay them, and ethically hack betnaija so I always win when I play, and ethically hack the minds of my fellow Nigerians so we all stop being tribal and anti the religion that is not our own and learn to love others almost as much as we love ourselves!

I'd have said "as much as", but I honestly can not love you like I love me.

Update (With apologies for highjacking InDiscov's thread).

Sunday came, and the wrong address my delivery was sent to never brought it to me. So I called Amazon on Monday and they swiftly refunded me. I reordered immediately, and my order has just arrived.

It's Tuesday. I'm peachy glad.

budaatum:
Annoying this. I ordered a mouse for work due tomorrow as mine stopped working. I even paid extra for next day delivery but Amazon delivered it to a white door while my door is black!

So I called Amazon, and now have to wait till Sunday to see if it arrives or they'll remedy their error.

But at least they've refunded the delivery charge meanwhile.

Have you reported that Mr?
Some shout inflation, but seem to not know its impact.

Time for 'Christmas send money home' again. We've agreed to give the same amount in Naira as last year, but it's costing me less in pounds sterling. Meanwhile, they'd need to spend more in Naira to purchase what they bought last year.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Is It True That Nigerians Don’t Have Reading Culture by budaatum: 1:57pm On Dec 02, 2025
I think it is true that many Nigerians do not have a reading culture.

I used to ship books to the library in the Orolu Kingdom, and many of my people used to look at me like I was a fool. "Wetin we want take book do?", they'd ask, "abeg, bring the money make we chop!"

I must confess that now, 20 years later, some whisper to each other as I walk our streets saying, "that's the person who made me read".

Where I live, and where there is a thriving reading culture, there are about 10 libraries and lots of bookshops within about a 2 mile radius. Can't say the same about anywhere in Nigeria to the best of my knowledge.

That said, I'm glad for the religious books, the Bible, especially, because god worship has made many need to learn to read, though I'd argue about their understanding.

Sorry, but can't fill your survey because it asks for gender and has no third option nor rather not say.

Please o, can someone explain to me why Ross Ulbricht and the former president of Honduras are getting pardons while the excuse to go after Maduro is being tough on drugs?
I wish I could explain the double standards, but it seems they prefer the opposition leader to Maduro, and to me it looks like kicking out election winner Tinubu for my preferred Peter Obi, likely because he is more amenable to their needs (not claiming he is, mind).

Any democracy on earth should rather not have their candidate become president that way!

Agriculture in Nigeria is still subsistence. AI will do nothing in that area because Nigeria is slow in adopting new technologies. Interestingly, agriculture is biggest contributor to Nigeria's GDP.
I was just about to ask if AI will carry hoe and come and till my farm when I can't even get common tractor to till it for me.

Statisense keeps bombarding us with statistics without ever providing proper backing or sourcing methods.

For example, they can claim to give us statistics of the quantity of 'water' in Nigeria across all geopolitical zones without bothering to specify whether they are referring to rainwater, borehole water, treated table water, or streams.
Hmm. They should at least tell us how they got their figures so we don't think they pulled them out of thin air.

You are very free to assume the words "fear" and "respect" are the same thing and are intertwined, but the fact is they are not.

I'm very certain even you must have friends you do not fear but have a lot of respect for. And many men do not fear their wife but respect her and vice versa.

So it had nothing to do with the fact that almost all countries in Europe are along ethnic lines?
Ethnic and tribe for us is tribe and religion for them.

The Vikings ruled England at one time after many wars. And the Irish Republic Army were Catholics fighting English Protestants.

What exactly solved the barbarism in Europe tell me
Time. And education. The more people lost their ignorance over time the less barbaric they became.

Its why predominant Christian and white cities like London and New York can elect brown Muslims to be their mayors.

Its like us getting to the point where we realise the content of a person's head is more important than the tribe they are from and the Gods they call on and elect Chukwudi as governor of Kano and Ismaila as governor of Imo, on merit.

Is that now the new excuse for ignoring evidence and researching for oneself?

Europeans have been far more barbaric than we could possibly ever be, I'll have you know so you don't go thinking white people are superior to you.

There only grace is they eventually learnt from their errors, as we will someday do too. insha'Allah.
