Politics / Nnamdi Azikiwe Was A Tribalist? by buffny: 12:27pm On Jul 15, 2012 |
It would appear that the God of Africa has created the Ibo nation to lead the children of Africa from the bondage of the ages…The martial process of the Ibo nation at all ages of human history has enabled them not only to conquer others but also to adapt themselves to the role of preservers …The Ibo nation cannot shrink its responsibility from its manifest destiny. - NNAMDI AZIKIWE . AWOLOWOS RESPONSE. Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the acclaimed Yoruba leader: “It seemed clear to me that [Azikiwe’s] policy was to corrode the self-respect of the Yoruba people as a group; to build up the Ibo as a ‘master-race.’” |
Crime / Family Of 5 Arrested For Kidnapping In Imo by buffny: 11:23pm On Jul 14, 2012 |
\so kidnapping is now a family business in the east. soo funny. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/article/evil-alliance-family-5-arrested-kidnapping EVIL ALLIANCE: Family of 5 arrested for kidnapping •Demands N10m ransom Photo: Sun News Publishing By: Ngozi Uwujare, Ibadan Date: Wed, 07/04/2012 - 22:48 It was a day of reckoning for five members of a family as they landed in police net for their alleged role in the kidnapping of a lady in Imo State. The state police command through its Anti-Kidnapping Squad, bust the alleged evil activities of the Osuji family and rescued their victim, Veronica Iwuchukwu, who was first abducted on May 25, 2012 from where she had gone to attend a burial. The victim, was said to have been kidnapped by the Osujis and taken to their family compound where their mother and younger sisters fed her. Crimewatch gathered athat as soon as the victim was taken to their home, the Osujis phoned the family of the victim demanding for a N10million ransom. While the victim’s family was negotiating the ransom, the Osujis were elated and began to celebrate during which they got themselves drunk. The victim who noticed that her abductors who were drunk, and have taken enough substance suspected to be drug, cashed in on the situation and fled. Vero as she is fondly called ran into a compound, and was trying to relate her predicament to the occupants, but she was not given the opportunity as she was chased away. Vero ran to another compound where she was also rejected. Unfortunately, the woman could not run far as the kidnappers who had recovered from their unconsciousness went after her and she was re-abducted by them. Luck eventually ran out on the kidnappers, as some of the youths who witnessed the re-abduction went to the police station and reported the evil act at Mba Olu Police station. The police arrested the Osujis including the father, mother, daughter and two sons. Arrested also were their suspected accomplices. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Dega, who confirmed the arrest, said the victim’s family had initially paid N1million ransom and that after collecting the money, the suspects told the victim’s family that they must pay the remaining balance of N9 million. CP Dega said when the report got to the police, the police picked their mother and warned her children through phone call that if they did not release the victim within a specific time, she would be shot. The Osujis who did not want to gamble with their mother’s life, quickly released Vero. Vero who was praising God and the police for saving her life, told Crimewatch that she had gone for a burial and was abducted at gun- point. She explained how the Osuji’s treated her well “they really took care of me. Their mother and her daughter were cooking and providing me with food.” The woman who was still in shock on how a whole family would be involved in kidnapping noted that as they were feeding her well, they were still demanding for N10 million ransom. However, Dega who said the force recovered some arms and ammunition in Osujis’ residence said the suspects would soon be arraigned. |

Politics / Northern Nigeria Has Oil .niger Delta Go To Hell. Buhahhahahaa. by buffny: 3:12pm On Jul 26, 2011 |
http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Energy-Resources/2011/07/07/Northern-Nigerias-huge-oil-reserves/UPI-91561310069770/ ABUJA, Nigeria, July 7 (UPI) -- Nigeria is Africa's largest oil producer and the world's eighth largest producer but is looking for other than its traditional oil-producing areas to increase its holdings. The Nigeroan oil industry produces 2.2 million barrels of oil a day. That provides 95 percent of the country's foreign exchange earnings and about 80 percent of its budget. For the last five decades the bulk of Nigeria's production has come from its riverine delta region on the southern coast of the country. But that area has seen increasing militant action by locals unhappy with both their exploitation and the environmental destruction caused by the production. The most high profile of the insurgent groups is the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, more familiarly known as MEND. Constant militant activity and other sabotage of oil equipment have taken a toll environmentally, too. An estimated 500 million gallons of oil have spilled into the delta. President of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society Akinola A. George is insisting that the country's north has massive quantities of oil as well, the Daily Trust reported. "Judging by the discoveries of commercial oil in neighboring countries like Chad, Niger and even in Uganda, Kenya and Sudan, there should be in ours too, because the geology that exist there are same with the ones we have in our inland basins," George told the Daily Trust. "It's just a matter of applying modern technology to discover it." He said the discovery of oil in nearby countries "should serve as booster, encourage and stimulate" the government to explore for hydrocarbons in Benue trough, Chad, Anambra and other inland basins. George points out the geographical areas lie on the Central African Rift and West Africa Rift systems. "It would make economic and socio-economic sense to explore for oil and gas in these basins if only to increase Nigeria's hydrocarbon resources," he said. He added the government should carry out a geophysical survey to determine possible locations of oil. Oil production began in the Niger Delta in 1956, producing a "sweet," low-sulfur crude called Bonny Light that was easily refined, leading Nigeria two decades later to join the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries -- OPEC. In speculating on what northern oil supplies might mean for the country George added: "Don't doubt it. There is commercial quantity of crude oil in the north. "If oil is discovered here in the north, the over-dependence on oil in the Niger Delta will be reduced. And of course, the social and economic welfare of the people will be improved as many jobs will be created and the region will be better for it." He advised Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to pursue oil exploration "vigorously."
