Professor John Durodola
He has been involved in a number of multi-disciplinary research projects for power plant, automotive and aerospace industries.

Professor Durodola did his PhD at Imperial College, London, where his work led to new Hermitian and Overhauser boundary elements. Whilst at Oxford University, he developed a generalisation of McLean’s creep model to include the effect of inherent residual stresses and possibilities for instantaneous matrix plastic flow upon loading. Since joining Oxford Brookes University in 1994, one of his achievements is the development of a method for simultaneous determination of tensile and compressive material behaviours from bend tests only.

John is also Head of the Stress and Materials, Analysis, Research and Testing (SMART) Group at Oxford Brookes University.

Thug who slit cop's throat jailed for life

A BRUTAL knifeman described as one of the most dangerous men in Britain was given life in jail today for trying to kill two police officers.
John Onyenaychi, 30, cut PC Paul Madden’s throat as bystanders watched in horror.

He then lashed out with his knife at other officers who tried to restrain him, the Old Bailey heard — before calling out: “Let me finish him off.”
Incredibly PC Madden’s life was saved as one of the first people to walk past the scene was a quick-thinking retired heart surgeon who was out Christmas shopping.
Samad Tadjkarimi, 65, also helped Community Support Officer Piotr Dolata, who was also stabbed by Onyenaychi in Ealing, West London, last December.
Mr Tadjkarimi, who had retired three weeks earlier, said today: “It’s my duty, I guess. I’m sure anyone in my profession would do the same.
ch
“It’s very humbling that my intervention perhaps contributed to the outcome of possibly saving his life - a very brave young officer.”
PC Madden, 23, was taken to hospital by helicopter and received emergency surgery for injuries to his neck, throat and face. He was left with permanent scarring.
PCSO Dolata, 27, needed 12 stitches to his head.
Fellow PCSO Steven Constable was slashed twice but escaped serious injury because his high-visibility jacket saved him.
Onyenaychi, of Stratford, East London, was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years for the attack on PC Madden, and given a second life term with a concurrent minimum of 20 years for attempting to murder PCSO Dolata.

Cuts ... graphic shows injuries sustained by PC Paul Madden, right
Onyenaychi refused to come out of his cell during the nine-day trial.
The Recorder of London, Judge Peter Beaumont, said Onyenaychi had not shown any remorse.
The judge added: “He used a knife on the face and neck of a police officer who was doing his job
“Paul Madden would have died within 2-3 minutes - such was the loss of his blood - without the help he received from the passing retired doctor.”
Onyenaychi was on licence at the time, having been jailed for two years for causing death by dangerous driving while high on drugs.

Stabbed ... PCSO Piotr Dolata was knifed twice in the head
He had in the past attacked a prison officer using a pencil as a homemade weapon and committed violent offences since the age of 12.
After being arrested for the attacks on police, he let out a four-letter rant of obscenities at the woman magistrate who remanded him in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane said: “He is one of the most dangerous men in Britain.”
The attack on the three officers was the culmination of a five-day violent crime spree.
Brian Altman QC, prosecuting, told the jury: “This defendant embarked on a crime spree of lethal and extreme violence.

MOMENT John Onyenaychi was seized by police on London bus
“He is a highly dangerous individual who thinks nothing of carrying a knife on him, a tool of his trade, and uses it as a lethal weapon when he wishes to do so.”
Mr Altman said 6ft 2in Onyenaychi became agitated when challenged about his ticket on a bus in New Broadway in Ealing.
Soon support officers recognised him, because of a distinctive mark under his right eye, as a man who was wanted for a previous attack.
PC Madden thought Onyenaychi might be armed and tried to arrest him.

Horror ... officers at scene of stabbing in Ealing, West London
Mr Altman said: “Without warning, the defendant ripped his hands from his pockets and moved towards the policeman.
“In an instant PC Madden felt he had been struck on the left side of his face.
“Realising he had been stabbed, PC Madden attempted to stop the defendant striking him again - but the defendant pulled him close in and, with force, cut him across the throat.”
The knifeman was seen to strike the officer three or four times, PC Madden’s head jerking backwards each time.mpu
PCSO Dolata was stabbed twice in the head with the blade as he pulled the attacker to the ground.
A number of officers were needed to restrain Onyenaychi who had not wanted to give up the retractable Stanley-type knife.
Four days earlier, he stabbed a man five times, causing serious wounds, in a minicab office in Brentford, West London, after a failed robbery.
And two days before that, he stole a laptop from a man in Fulham, West London, after threatening him with a knife.
Mr Altman said: “He threatened to kill the man unless he handed over the laptop. He boasted ’I do this for a living’.”

Even if nigeria is better off, ppl will still talk of biafra as long as they feel marginalized. During my youth service in d north, i realised that the old eastern region is grosssly marginalized and looked down as pagans by d dominant north and their bureacratic west. Everybody believes don't give d igbo man an equal opportunity or he would dominate u. And by igbo, they often mean d akwa ibom and cross river ppl included. It's then, i realised that even 50yrs from today, biafra would still be a rallying cry but definitely more violent.

i dont think anybody ever makes a mistake of confusing efik and ibibio for igbo.

You simply personify idiocy and buffoonery. If Biafran army was not well organized fighting unit, it begs for clarification why the military help from British, USSR, Egypt, Niger, Chad, Australia and Cameroon failed woefully to defeat Biafra in a year. Be mindful that British had predicated the war should be over in two weeks, olodo.

stupid dummy. a high ranking biafran official gave an eyewitness account of murders committed by igbos against non igbos and you are still debating whether its factual or not.

I do not think PhysicsQED did any good job to dispute the fact about civilians being able to recognize military insignia. Rather the aforementioned poster proved one thing, thus, the allegation Biafran soldiers committed certain atrocities in Midwestern region was a mere conjecture and empty assertion borne out of delusion.

In the cases of Asaba, Ogba\Egbema and Obisi, the eyewitnesses were civilians not soldiers or CIA trained operatives. Yet they were able to cite the soldiers were Nigerians, 3MCDO or 2nd Division due to insignia on the soldiers who perpetrated the atrocities.

If the eyewitnesses had slightly waived on what they saw as identifiable reference of the soldiers such as Biafran raising sun emblem or 101 or black octopus or jumping white horse, there would have been doubt cast on claims by civilians that atrocities were committed in Asaba, Ogba\Egbema or Obisi.

However, it is foolhardy for denial artists and deluded civilians to wake one morning and decide to conjure a blatant falsehood about heinous crimes committed by Biafran soldiers without offering an iota of evidence to support such idiotic claims. It is even a crime for someone to deduce the so-called civilian eyewitnesses were halfwits who could not differentiate a badge of 101 from White Horse. It is safe to conclude that if the midwestern region eyewitness civilians were halfwits as writer suggested, the allegation of atrocities committed by Biafran soldiers in midwestern region might be a mere conjectural crap after all.

u are a dummy.

the biafran army was not a regular army. it was a rag tag rebel army. so it was far from being organised . but i'm sure with a little bit of research we can come up with names of those that commanded the troops in the midwest and rivers state that committed atrocities. plus igbo civilians are accused of committing atrocities as well. to suggest that atrocities did not occur because the names of those who committed them are not known , is stupid and ridiculous. at the end of the day . ojukwu who was the commander should be held responsible for all atrocities.

Rich robbers, kidnap kingpins
Our Reporter November 18, 2012 80 Comments »

•Build expensive homes, hotels with ill-gotten wealth •Their native doctors, armoury

From EMMANUEL UZOR, Onitsha

In Anambra state, kidnappers could be ranked among the biggest investors and employers of labour through their filthy lucre of abducting fellow human beings and demanding ransom for their release.

Through the illegal business and the huge profit, kidnappers in the state have devised a means of investing the money they get from ransom collected from relatives of their victims, in hotel business and other profitable business ventures.

Checks by Sunday Sun revealed that though the kidnappers are aware that their activities in many states attract capital punishment upon conviction, they are unrelenting due to the quick wealth and consequent affluence.

However, the police, other security agencies as well as the state government are not relenting in their efforts to flush out the criminals.

But as the fight against kidnappers continues, it has become obvious that the hoodlums have turned big time investors in various businesses with the usually heavy gains from their satanic acts.

Recently, some of the suspected kidnappers arrested in various parts of the state by the state Special Anti- Robbery Squad, (SARS) led by Mr. James Nwafor, allegedly made startling confessions about their huge financial muzzles.

It was gathered that during interrogation, some of them and their kingpins told policemen that their illegal business has made them as rich as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reputed as the country’s richest man.

The suspects said they invested the money they received from ransom wisely in various profitable businesses and made sure they live in affluence and glamour as ‘big boys’.

According to a community leader in Oraifite who pleaded anonymity, “the suspects lived in affluence and glamour and paraded themselves as one of the richest people in the community with the large followers who are mainly youths”.

Sunday Sun further gathered that while some of the kidnappers wasted their money on frivolities and expensive life, some of them including the kingpins built expensive houses and hotels scattered all over the state and its environs.

Though the state governor, Mr. Peter Obi has clamped on some of the arrested kidnappers and demolished their homes built with ransom money, there are indications that many of such investments in cities across the country have not been discovered.

Suspects and their investments

Mr. Olisa Ifedika alias Ofeakwu who hails from Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state allegedly made a confessional statement as the leader of one of the most dreaded kidnap gangs which led to the arrest of his partners and the discovery of their expensive homes.

He had completed his ultra-modern bungalow and almost completed the second two- storey building that he wanted to use as a hotel located near the main road in his community.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Balla Nasarawa said: “A hotel built by Ofeakwu at Ezumeri-Oraifite was nearing completion which has been located. The building was erected with ransom collected from their victims.”

According to the Police boss, the kidnap kingpin made confessional statement that led to the discovery of the house built by another dangerous kidnap kingpin, Okechukwu Amasiatu alias Okey Nnewi.

“One of the confessions was that one Okechukwu Amasiatu alias Okey Nnewi is the second most dangerous kidnapper to Olisa Ifedika. The investigations by the police led to the discovery of his residence located almost opposite Ezinifite Police Division in Nnewi South council area of the state.

“A magnificent bungalow of eight bedrooms built with ransom money collected from victims of kidnap was within a compound that belongs to his father. Okey Nnewi is still at large but efforts have been intensified to arrest him.

“He also gave another stunning revelation that their second armory is located at Uli. The confession led to the recovery of another catchments of arms and ammunition buried inside plastic containers by one Emeka Ezekude”, he said.

Emeka Ezekude

He hails from Uli in Ihiala council area of Anambra state and another “dangerous” kidnap suspect detained at the SARS office, Awkuzu in connection with high profile kidnap cases and robberies in various parts of the state.

Mr. Nasarawa told Sunday Sun that, “the said Emeka Ezekude was subsequently arrested and he confessed to the crime. Emeka Ezekude just like Okey Nnewi, also built two magnificent bungalows for himself and his mother. The buildings were built with ransom collected from victims of kidnap.”

Emeka Ibesi

He was arrested on September 12, 2012, in connection with the murder of two vigilantes. The Ak47 rifle used to kill the security men was recovered and he allegedly confessed to the crime. The police said that the suspect also confessed that his gang was responsible for most of the robberies and kidnappings at Nkpor, Umuoji, Ojoto, Agulu and its environs.”

The Commissioner said: “The suspect further mentioned one Omeregbema as their gang leader and stated that their victims were kept in a storey building built by their leader who is still at large, at Igbokwu community in Anyamelum council area of the state.

“The leader of this dreaded kidnap/armed robbery gang is reported to be a native doctor, and responsible for making charms and arming the suspects with charms to protect them from police bullets. He built a story building with the ransom collected from victims.”

However, Governor Peter Obi swung into action by demolishing some of the buildings that belong to the kidnap suspects in various communities including Oraifite, Uli, Agukwu Nri and other parts of the state.

Governor Obi said the action was to discourage youths who see the ill-gotten wealth of the kidnappers as proof of success and let them know that the government would not tolerate anyone found guilty of aiding and abetting kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

Arrest of robbery suspects

The Anambra state police boss also said the command made impressive success in combating violent crimes in and across the state including armed robbery especially in the commercial cities of Onitsha , Nnewi and Awka.

“On October 1, 2012, at about 8am, on a tip off, SARS operatives arrested one Chidera Obiwuru and Onyebuchi Nnekwu with serious bullet wounds, having robbed one Chibuzor Akunna of his Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration No UMZ 19 XA. Items recovered from them included three locally made pistols with two live cartridges and a Nokia cell phone which was identified by the victim.”

The SARS operatives also raced to a robbery scene at Agbata Nsugbe and arrested one Chukwudi Ani and Chinedu Ajani with serious bullet wounds which they sustained during a gun battle with the police while others escaped with their arms and the loot.

“The suspects robbed one Ngozi (other names withheld) and her family of an undisclosed amount and other valuables. They confessed to the crime while manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is still in progress”, he said.

Also, a police patrol team from Abagana Division in conjunction with Abba town vigilance group on October 8 arrested one Chinedu Slyvanus, a native of Imo state, resident in Abba and recovered one locally made double barrel pistol with three live cartridges, a Carter motorcycle with registration No Ebonyi, QD 266 AKW and three cell phones.

It was further gathered that the police patrol team attached to 3-3 Division and local vigilance group arrested Okwudili Aniukwu and Ifeanyi Chukwu at Agbata Nsugbe and recovered six and a half bags on Indian hemp, packets of paper wrappers, a lady’s motorcycle, two television sets and two small generating sets suspected to have been stolen.

Mr. Balla Nasarawa said that the Special Anti- Robbery Squad arrested a two suspected robbers while they were chasing a motorcyclist in a bid to snatching his motorcycle. He gave the names of the suspects as Daniel Igene alias Onwa and Simeon Boko, adding that, “they were apprehended with serious bullet injuries and a locally made double barrel gun cut to size with five live cartridges was recovered from them.”

Rescue of kidnap victims

The police in their bid to flush kidnappers out of the state recovered so many arms and ammunitions and arrested several suspects including a native doctor suspected to be making charms for criminals. Also, the police rescued some kidnap victims from their abductors.

“The SARS operatives arrested Uchenna Muodofor of Nnewi and his gang. The suspects were affiliated to the dreaded Olisa Ifedika alias Ofeakwu’s gang. They were responsible for most kidnappings in the state and its environs.

Also, the arrest of Obinna Ofor led to the rescue of one Onyekwelu Jonathan Eledu in a compound owned by one Onyeka at Osumoghu.

Policemen at the Uli police division, acting on a tip off, also rescued one 38-year-old Francis Amechi and Anichebe Sunday, both natives of Awka, who were allegedly kidnapped at Orlu in Imo state.

I am not coinciding anything. NU Akpan made clear statement about the treatment handed to anyone slightly suspected of aiding the enemy. Whether the suspected saboteur was Igbo, Efik, Ijo, Ogoni, Ibibio or Annang, it did not matter a bit as he\she was roughly handled. I guess this scenario is different from the atrocity in discussion because the victims were simply killed because of their ethnicity, olodo.

an atrocity is an antrocity dumbo. whether u kill them cus of ethnicity or because they dont support your cause. an atrocity is an atrocity , so why are u justifying such . sounds like you are very much a hypocrite. and it was the igbos that were committing these atrocities.

I guess the hard-earned money your parents spent to get you educated remains a futile effort. Many Igbo people were killed, harassed and even imprisoned on the slightest suspicion they were saboteurs. I have seen previously happily married couples get nasty in a divorce matters. It is not surprise to read a crap allegedly written by AU Akpan who was top government official both in eastern region and Biafra. The persons of minority ethnic group held important positions in Biafra. If the minorities people were maltreated as Akpan would want us to believe, he, AU Akpan, should be held responsible.

ohh , so you are now conceding that atrocities were infact possibly committed by igbos !!!!

u are a funny one. let me provide you with the source of all that i have put up there since u choose to not believe.

you can utilize amazons preview feature to browse through the pages you dumb dingbat.

Nu akpan stated clearly in his book that ojukwu was a tyrant ready to kill those who opposed him , so why would he voice opposition and risk being killed.

even NU Akpan , Ojukwus chief secretary wrote in his book that atrocities were committed by igbos against non igbos who did not "cooperate". I want to see dede1 wiggle his way out of this. slimy bastard.

The above post is a brazen attempt by denial artist to sit truthful historical fact on its head. We are discussing the massacre perpetrated by frustrated units of soldiers who had incurred losses in term of human and materials in their failed bid to accomplish a task and turn their frustration and weapons on civilian whom they blamed for their cowardice and inadequacies. The Asaba, Ogba\Egbema and Obosi stood as glaring examples of such display of cowardice and inadequacies by armed units of Nigerian armed forces.

The incidences that took place in Sapele, Warri, Benin City and Agbo were born out of ethnic hatred and blind rage carried out by Non-Igbo peeps to placate their northern masters of Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, Tiv, Nupe, etc. In Warri and Sapele, it must be recall that members of 8th battalion stood watch and encouraged the non-Igbo in those cities to lynch the defenseless Igbo. The history repeated itself at Benin City and Agbo as elements from 4th Brigade of 2nd Division under Captain Yara Adua encourage non-Igbo to lynch Igbo peeps.

The massacre in Asaba was carried out by the units from the 8th brigade of 2nd division of Nigerian armed forces under the command of Lt Col Francis Ayisida. The Ogba\Egbema massacre was perpetrated by units from 15th Brigade of 3MCDO of Nigerian armed forces under the command of Major Olu Makanjuola. The killing of 300 church worshippers at Obosi was carried by units from 4th and 6th brigades of 2nd division under the command of Lt Col Murtala Mohammed. This incident happened when 11th division of Biafaran army was in hot pursuit of Murtala Mohammed and his men after the Abagana debacle.

It is unconscionable for any individual to even insinuate putting up a defense for what happened in Sapele, Warrri, Benin City and Agbo during the dark hours of Nigerian history. It is fine with me but I must attest that Ndigbo shall never forget.

did u forget the part where so called biafran liberation forces invaded the midwest and committed atrocities against non igbos. shooting and harassing.

stupid dumbass.

afam4eva: I wonder how much Dr BJ Imkeme was paid to spew this rubbish. I wonder why there's no record of brutality committed by Biafrans anywhere yet some people will keep pushing this lie. At least there's a record of the Asaba massacre and people who were somehow affected have come out to say what they know with evidence.

why dont u go ask minorities wheter there was any brutality against. them. the doctor listed names of people killed ,and you say there was no record. all the minorities say that biafra commited atrocities against them and you are still here deceiving urself. if u want evidence why don u sit down with an ijaw man or an efik man and ask him if atrocities were committed against them.
