@cherriex thanks for your response. It was just the way you described it. But I am happy to inform you that it came out negative. Regards |
Today I am going in for hiv test after recommendation from a govt hospital doctor. I have had to deal with skin issues of recent that persistently refused to go after both local and orthodox medicine. My got feeling is that it may be positive. How do I manage my emotion, considering my young family and my loving wife. Pls your advice. |
Waooh. You guys tried ooo. At ages 25 that is cool. Mine was age 30. I worked for a company that wasnt paying much. I guess ny salary must have been about 60k monthly then. But God saw that I was conscientious, so fortunately I was sent for a 3month course abroad. Buy the time I checked my pocket money it was 6500pound sterling. Exchange rate then was 245 naira. You can do tje maths. But my salary was still going on in nigeria while away. Well I came back rented apartment and furnished including with a dstv at that time that it was rare. But I bought a plot of land in abraham adesanya. My story |
The bible says that he that fails to provide for family is wicked even more a none believer. Later in life if your children grew up being naughty by nature your husband will be wondering where he got it wrong. But getting people for the lord start with household. He opened the front door for others to come in but left the back door for his own children to go out. Your husband is exposing you to temptation you need to find away to pass the message to him. |

My wife at the age of 31 when we got married. Olumide |
@ladapo and lond07 thanks for your comments and insight. |
@diasporan thanks for your response and encouragement. I took time to take my wife thru it yesternite. Though she has never been in support of our leaving nigeria. When we newly got married she wanted to travel to canada to be delivered of our 1st child she was denied visa cos she wasnt working but she was so cross because she had her early primary sch in canada and couldnt understand why she was denied. Since then she has been anti travel. But I definitely know 2 things. That 1, God need to be thoroughly consulted and that my wife must fully buy into this lofty idea. Funny enough she has always agreed with me on all issues but she is a bit reluctant now. But I guess because she is always scarred of changes. |
@ king David and the rest thanks for your response. Let try to summarize briefly why I am making this decision that some say is a wrong path to follow. 1. some say hey it is not possible to earn such income in Nigeria and still wants to travel- I laughed in telco, banking and oil & Gas people earn a lot more than that, but are they comfortable, hell noooooooo! 2. Some say it is way more than enough- Yes I agree with you it is enough if you are only leaving for the presence, I have just 2 kids the oldest being 7yrs, but annually school fees is N1m for the 2, is this the best school, no. but my children can hold their own in the midst of any set of children. Like my wife will always say, that i am the problem of the house, i try as much as possible to invest large part of my income in all sorts of business, unfortunately i have never been able to combine it easily with my job to bring profit or break even and this always leave my family short of cash most times because i never believed in trading but production activities, however i believe one day it will work out. 3. Back to why I am frustrated with the country- I should have left the shores of the country long ago, but i was one of the people who believe that it is better to stay back here since many of our friends that left came to start all over again. but come to think of it Nigeria's problems remain the sames as it has been 20yrs ago, but nothing has changed in the way we respond to our issues. I have travelled to almost all the states of nigeria except boko haram invaded ones . I have seen people suffering and in dire needs but seems no solution to their problems and I cant be in plenty while others are in dire need. but the way we respond to our issue are getting worse by the day, but above all corruption has destroyed every aspect of our lives with what seems to be no hope to resolve it. Ask yourself what has changed? To compound it I have realised that our orientation has made every nigerian to become indifferent to the problems and challenges, I marvel anytime they say some leader is corrupt and the response is who is it that is not corrupt, that it is part of out life. 4. Ask yourself what do you spend larger part of your income on, power, food, fuelling, school fees. house rent e.t.c but that is okay, but after paying so much do you still feel comfortable with what you get NOOO. The period i am most happy at home is when we have PHCN power supply and not generator power supply with all its poisonous fumes. 5. Ask yourself how much do you set aside for medical insurance, if per adventure anything that is beyond malaria and typhoid happened do you have a medical insurance that can handle Kidney failure, cancer, infertility, certainly our medical insurance are not that great, mind you I pay so much annually for medical insurance only for me to diagnosed wrong with cervical Tuberculosis in one of the best private hospital in Nigeria, thank God for his intervention when I took matters to my hand and commit it to God, only to be told by a very senior spine Consultant that there is nothing of such with me, in fact after roving around the internet for so many weeks i found out this disease happens only in severe case of HIV/AIDs, i nearly made up my mind to sue the hospital. How many people have access to the consultant, the day I was to see him I waited for 10rhs only to be told to come back the next day, how many of us even have access to such consultants in Nigeria 6. Have you ever realised that an average Nigeria youth gets ready to face the world challenges from ages 24/25yrs, whereas his counterpart in UK is ready from age 18yrs, well I may be wrong but that is what I read and was told. 7. Why am I so sure that I will continue to earn fantastic income till my children are ready to go to higher institutions, why not put them in an environment that prepares them to take on life early enough. 8. Somebody could say but these countries developed theirs we should ours. but like chillbabe said nigerians refused to hold their leaders accountable for all their wrong actions especially on corruption, rather the Ruben Abati syndrome comes into play the moment they are benefiting from govt dole outs. Sorry I am tired of seeing all these, i don't need much in life just basic things of life but in safe and secure environment, where my children can be given the best opportunity. Yes things are not the best over there, but can the worst person in USA not accessing basic accommodation, cloths and food. which is comparable to our own middle income earners here, i don't know what your desires are but mine does not include acquiring plenty money for the sake of it, rather to enjoy basic needs of humans and give back to the society whatever I can. but as it is I cant see any ray of hope so soon, may be later. 9. I must say to you that I have lived most of my childhood fantasy except 1 or 2, which is to travel around the world with my family and run a world class animal husbandry with life in countryside away from all the husling and burstling of life, some of the areas that this could have been achieved in Nigeria which is in the northern parts has been destroyed by boko haram and insecurity. Have you gone to Jos before it was invaded or keffi Nassarawa with it sprawling landscape. Well God help us. But my heart is heavy everyday when I see this despondent situation in which people are Nigeria, but it aches me more when i realized that even Nigerians are not ready to take matters into their hands, like they say when can we demand that things be done right like it is happening in Thailand and Ukraine in an organised manner without allowing things to degenerate like in syria. 10. I can only wish you all well in your own endeavors |
Which of the statements? |
Dear I have been overwhelmed by all the various responses herein. I have been on the road travelling across the country since morning. I must say that I appreciate every response. I will give a detailed insight shotly into my background and what led to this decision to leave. But to those that marvel at 10m annual income I must say to you that it is peanut in the kind of industry that I work. So when you say the income is very great it gives me insight into what your status is presently. I will be back. Cheers. Sorry it was typed while driving. My mind is made up the more. If it is about current status I am good cos I also enjoy a first class official car. |
@Ifegy thanks for your advice. have been thinking along that line. guys it isnt always about me but future of my children, i am a man that will be contented with just basic things of life in a stable environment. i am just tired and sick that this country have too many people suffering unnecessarily and i cant stand it anymore. |
I dont know about you. But as for me I am tired of this country and it seems nothing will ever work again. I need to look for a legitimate way of getting my family out of this country. Me, my wife and my two children. I am tired of spending my income on things that are consumption in nature without being able to see what lies in the future. Like I said it can be frustrating seeing the way the country is being run. But my greatest fear is for the future of my children. Please forget any advise not to go my mind is made up. Mind you I work and I am not sure i earn badly, at least earn above 8m annually with my wife we earn over 10m. But i cant just continue with the frustration that come with this country. PLS YOUR ADVISE ON LEGITIMATE WAY TO LEAVE AND NEVER TO COME BACK AGAIN. |
