OP, I don't think there's anything wrong with your approach provided you're balancing their time, and engaging them in other ways throughout the week.

I was raised this same way - TV was highly restricted. My dad was 'all work no play', or rather 'study-read-study', so it was usually my mom who provided all the anti-tv fun (trips/games/much needed breaks/etc).

If there's a TV show they're especially crazy about, you can TIVO/record it during the week, and allow them to watch it on the weekends. You could even incentivize it, if you like.
I like your post on engaging them in other ways during the week.

hmmmm. 4 me they get home by 5.30pm from school it is after school prog for some days in the week until their mum pick them up. So getting home means eating and all sorts like assingment, cleaning of shoes all sorts. And by the time meal is consumed it is 8pm to your tent o isreal.

Why are you tied to your late husband? That is what led to this. You are human and you have emotional and physical needs. So not getting involve emotionally is not too good for you at such age. But your son's friend is an i.d.I.o.t.that you should advise your children to stay away from. What he has done is nothing but rape and you could have gotten him arrested.

Today my 8year old daughter came back from school and was talking about pvc. Then I asked her who her classmates are voting for. Guess what she said. She outrightly told me that the yorubas in her primary 4 class said Buhari and the igbos said Goodluck. And I asked myself is this how bad thinks have degenerated with us?. So what are your children saying about voting?

Nairaland GeneralRe: Barcanista Blackmail Ii: Friends And "Friends", Patriotism And "Malooism", by bugativeron: 6:07pm On Feb 18, 2015
barcanista:
Fellow Nairalanders,

Many people have been wondering on why the sudden change of camp from Pro-APC to Pro-GEJ. Is it for money? Attention? Patriotism or Self interest? I write this to let you be the judge yourself.

THE GENESIS
I joined this forum with this Moniker in 1 May 2013. As at then, I was a loyal Pro-Jonathan because I believe in giving leaders the necessary support and not desperation pull him down. I criticised him prominently during the Oduah saga. I hailed him when necessary as at then.

ON OBANIKORO:
I have always admired Obanikoro for his resolute, his antecedents as a LGA Boss, a Senator and a Commissioner in Lagos. I created few threads to eulogise him but I have never met him. He doesn't even know my face. The media carried some propaganda against him, I find them untrue. I decided on my own to do something for him and I stood for it even when I was with the "progressive"
https://www.nairaland.com/1316479/koro-real-messiah-lagos-state
https://www.nairaland.com/1318421/things-need-know-senator-musliu

MOVING TO Pro-APC
I moved to APC because I believed GEJ wasn't doing enough. I believed he isn't meeting some of the expectation. I needed something more. Despite that, I acknowleged him for his FOI law and for the Agric Sector. I once did a thread on it but didn't go deeper.
I had loved Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano state(as well as Shekarau). Even the PDP will attest to his giant stride. I wanted him as President to lead the change. Until someone asked me to do a research on Buhari. I did and I loved it. Even as a pro-Buhari, Kwankwaso remained my second choice. I never loathed Koro nor deny Kwankwaso even when Tomakint and Onaisisi joked about it. I maintained my stand. In fact, I had wanted Koro to win the Lagos PDP ticket, though was not too pleased with his campaign. My support for Buhari was given so many names but I held on. Seun at a point said I was paid, I laughed over it. All through the primaries, I stick with buhari and vowed to only vote for him or Kwankwaso at the election
https://www.nairaland.com/2134288/why-support-general-muhammadu-buhari

MY NL APC "FRIENDS"
I had tried to establish mutual relationship to pro-APC members. I had initiated ways to see how GMB can be boosted, I sent friendly mails and chat with some. But I have NEVER sent mail to any APC Group or Buhari Offline Group to make me their member, I and my "friends" laughed and play here, I had told them all. I see them as united patriots. When I got message of threats, I alerted them, I started with Ibnsultan, then send to others. Ibnsultan asked his source and he confirmed it. He deleted his account, I insisted on going on. I asked my "friends" for a cover, they responded by giving me "advice" to lay low(everyone loves security). I never asked anyone to pay me. But I am surprised that they are using it as a blackmail tool. I'm not bothered, I leave all to you to judge.

MY RELATIONShIP WITH NLDERS
When I was with the PDP I had maintained friendship with Donphilopus, Berem and some other pro-APC even when we don't agree. I also kept my friendship with pro-PDP alike.
When I defected to APC, I still maintained my relationship with pro-PDP guys, inclyding bloodykiller, Agabai23, Truckpusher, scantee, anonimi, firefire, mogidi, the babes and others. Few though see me as fanatical, but I showed them I was not. Though my relationship with MzMycolli and one or two people was affected.

APC/eAPC HYPOCRISY AND ATTACK:
Let me start by saying I have enjoyed friendship with ilugunboy which I hope doesn't get affected. During APC registration in January 2014 I was not in APC yet and I do banter him. It was on defined level and we laughed over it. My crossing over was not because of him anyway, but he was glad I did. To the subject, I started getting my banters when I created an innocent thread on a Wednesday morning after the Military had denied knowledge of Buhari certificate the previous day. Before I did, I had messaged Donphilopus to express my displeasure with the way APC was handling the issue. I won't say his reply.
https://www.nairaland.com/2104898/buharis-certificate-controversy-stayed-too
I also got more and name calling when I voiced my displeasure on the boycott of channels debate. Though I had supported that of NEDG
https://www.nairaland.com/2121626/nedg-presidential-debate-boycott-defence
https://www.nairaland.com/2126175/channelstv-presidential-debate-a.p.c-should
I condemned Amaechi and criticised him and APC when they threatened parallel government.
https://www.nairaland.com/2059843/parallel-government-open-letter-governor

In all these I was still committed to Buhari but not APC. I got their venom when I stated my opinion regarding the ING. They called me names and accusations upon that. I had to publish my conversation with the accuser. I never begged for appointment or money.
https://www.nairaland.com/2149476/interim-national-government-one-propaganda

I looked through their gimmick and realised that change cannot be got from those characters except retrogressive change. Hence, I withdrew my support and decided to tow with the Jonathans, at least we offer support and criticisms to make Nigeria better. I can't be a maloo following a master on a trip to nowhere. My erstwhile "friends" had become my antagonist. But Aanumama, ibnsultan, Obiagelli and probably few others remained friends.

FRIENDs INDEED:
If I'm Ijaw and only love you because you are Ijaw, then I'm not your friend. If I'm a Christian and only love Christians, it makes me an hypocrite. If I'm APC and hate PDP supporters, it makes me evil. My PDP friends came to my back, some called, some pinged and all expressing support. Dein77 and Truckpusher are indeed brothers. Firefire is one best dude anyone can ask. Pure love, pure friendship. Bloodykiller, serverstrup or so, Biafranqueen and many others are besties. Whoever comes to your aid when your "friends" mocks you for no reason is your friend.
"...Brotherhood should not be define by just political affiliation, mutual respect and understanding even in disagreement should supersede. Secondly, I see no moral standing in remaining where you are told yoi aren't wanted".

MY DEFECTION:
I had consulted widely. Initially I had wanted to be a neutral but there is no neutrality in politics. If the people in PDP are not bitter even at internal criticism, then there is hope to better things within. I had to check again the characters of people around GMB, they are not suited for Leadership except very silent few. I had to become fully Pro-Jonathan and PDP. When a man that hasn't got power is arrogant, it becomes a problem when he gets power. I love GMB but his friends politically as at now are people that can be likened to vipers. I won't vote for him. I see similarity between eAPC and main APC. It suck!

NL APC ACCUSATION;
They say I beg money to support and I am paid by PDP. They say I'm self serving. They say I left for PDP girl (perhaps someone was envious), all are emotional comments and they should prove it. They promised me "Cramjones treatment", I promise them that I shall not be moved. I'm an Okrikan, I don't get cowed.
I will not be forced to stoop so low to tell people my private conversation with my "progressive" brethren except when there's a blackmail.
I will also not want to dwell on this issue but to commit my time and resources to my new affiliation.
I still love them on nairaland nevertheless, but I know who means well for me and for Nigeria.

WHAT NEXT:
I am committed to the transformation of Nigeria. I believe we can change only in sincerity. My criticism notwithstanding. Fellow patriots, you will agree with me that we need #Change, but not a negative one. We can change in Jonathan's PDP. Hypocrisy is worse than terrorism. Our country shall never be run by those "progressives" indeed. Hypocrites can't bring change.

God Bless You All
Jonathan For President 2010-2019.
God Bless Nigeria

Please can someone kindly help to answer my questions below;

1. I intend travelling to USA with my wife in August 2015 (this wife) for our wedding anniversary, is it too early now to start the visa process, this is because I intend making visa fee payment today and book appointment.
2. I am at a dilemma as per sponsorship. As a civil servant she earns gross income of 125k while mine is about 700k. Should i fill in her form that i will sponsor her or she could still be eligible despite her gross income that is below 200k. I was thinking they could question my capacity to sponsor her base on my income?
What do you advise.
PoliticsIn Search Of Disciples For President Jonathan by bugativeron(op): 6:20pm On Feb 14, 2015
Fellow Nigerians, what should have been a special Valentine for Nigerians this year was cleverly terminated and postponed last week by INEC. The much anticipated elections would now start on March 28 and conclude on April 11, 2015. Not to worry, life continues. No matter the motives behind it, whether genuine or mischievous, it gladdens the heart that the decision was taken in good faith by all, albeit reluctantly.
In the spirit of that renewed determination to keep our peace before, during and after the elections, we must continue to run issue-based campaigns irrespective of who we support. I was sent a very irresistible article this week by Professor Kayode Oyediran, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. I found both his intervention and topic very relevant to the present situation in our country. I believe many of our young readers have a lot to learn and enjoy in this beautifully written piece which I couldn’t stop reading once I started. On a lighter note, it seems Taureans have the gift of the pen. Professor Oyediran and I share the same birthday of May 16.

Please enjoy my very special guest this week, a most distinguished scholar and administrator…
Four recent publications in several national dailies illustrate various dimensions of discipleship which has become a topical concept not only in Nigeria but globally. They are: “The chance of prosperity versus poverty of austerity” by Bola Ahmed Tinubu; “PMS pump price reduction and the economy: My take-away” by Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN; “Buhari vs Jonathan: Beyond the election” by Charles Chukwuma Soludo; and “Buhari has not satisfied the constitution – Adebanjo” being an interview of Chief Ayo Adebanjo. These publications addressed several current national issues, and gave insight into the perceptions, priorities and prejudices of the respective authors, and illustrated the various manifestations of discipleship.
Tinubu’s article is a well-researched critique of the macro-economic policy of the Federal government, and a spirited articulation of his preferred strategy for the creation of wealth and jobs. Fashola similarly presented a constructive critique of the government’s policy on the price of fuel. Soludo critically reviewed the economic policies of the Jonathan government as well as the proposed policy of the opposition party, APC. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the views expressed in the three articles, it cannot be denied that each addressed issues, and articulated researched, reasoned, balanced arguments; they criticized extant policy and practice, and presented alternatives. To that extent they were in the tradition of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Indeed in his article Soludo acknowledged this hallmark of the sage.

In his interview Chief Adebanjo declared his preference for President Jonathan and his aversion to General Buhari’s candidature in the imminent presidential elections; he admonished the people of the South-West to support Jonathan in order to avoid “making a big mistake and digging their own graves”; he emphasized that his position was based on “principles”; he explained that, because he and his colleagues in their faction of Afenifere are “strictly Awolowo’s disciples”, they do not “modify Awo’s principles for our(their) own interest”. He did not elaborate on the “principles”.
Chief Adebanjo’s choice of candidate – indeed the choice of any Nigerian – cannot and should not be questioned, and he need not proffer any reason for it. However if, as in this case, he decides to give reasons for his choice, it is legitimate to examine the reasons proffered. Therefore I wish to comment on four of the reasons presented by Chief Adebanjo namely: implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 national conference, the character of General Buhari, the qualifications of Buhari, and the suitability of Professor Osinbajo as Vice-Presidential candidate.
Chief Adebanjo stated that he is supporting Jonathan “because he is the only man who can implement the recommendations of the national conference which was set-up to bring equity to Yoruba land and Nigeria”. He asserted that the conference produced the panacea for Nigeria’s problems, and “—that is why I am insisting that all the recommendations of the confab should be implemented before the elections because the inequality this country has been suffering all this while has been rectified with the recommendations of the confab. All the things that could cause us conflicts have been rectified.” It is rather simplistic to suggest that, by itself, the recommendations of the 2014 conference – or any other conference for that matter – constitute a magic wand to sweep away all the problems of Nigeria. It is also internally inconsistent to insist that the recommendations of the conference must be implemented before the elections and simultaneously affirm that Jonathan, who is yet to submit the conference report to the National Assembly six months after it was presented to him, is the only man who can implement the recommendations. Could it be that those who described the conference as diversionary are correct? Could it be a repeat of a similar exercise during the second term of President Obasanjo?
Chief Adebanjo asserted that “as a NADECO man” he cannot support a former military dictator like Buhari. He described Buhari as a “fundamentalist” whose tenure as the boss of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) was tainted with corruption. I share Chief Adebanjo’s aversion for military dictatorship. However it is possible for a Saul to become a Paul. Buhari’s track record during the current political dispensation demonstrates that he believes in and submits to democracy and the rule of law. Furthermore Obasanjo was a military dictator who became President in a civilian democratic dispensation. His re-election in 2003 for a second term was supported by Chief Adebanjo and his colleagues. Obasanjo, who set-up two panels to probe the PTF, stated publicly that Buhari’s hands are clean, but Chief Adebanjo asserted that “—Obasanjo was trying to cover him (Buhari) up” because “—the issue of the N25 billion ---is all in the report”. People like me who have not seen the report would have appreciated it if he had quoted the relevant parts. Corruption is a major endemic problem in Nigeria which should be fully exposed and condemned when and as opportunity permits. It is therefore unfortunate that Chief Adebanjo stated: “When they talk of corruption in Jonathan government, I won’t say the government is clean, but those who are talking about corruption, how clean are they themselves?”
Chief Adebanjo described Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist, and “a man who said he was going to work for the operation of Sharia throughout the country”. I do not know whether Buhari said so, but I am confident that the pursuit of such a venture would be futile. I also recall that a widely publicized allegation that Buhari had said he would make Nigeria ungovernable turned out to be false; Reuben Abati and the Guardian newspaper published an unreserved apology to Buhari in the Guardian of 11th July, 2013. However action, it is said, speaks louder than words. It is instructive that when Buhari was the military Head of State he refused to make Nigeria a member of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC); he cut in half the number of Nigerian pilgrims going to Mecca for the Hajj, and directed that they should be given only their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA); the majority of his cabinet and of the military governors he appointed were Christians; he had and still has several Christian personal staff (personal assistant, cook, driver etc.). Clearly the available facts indicate that the description of Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist is reprehensible scare-mongering. It is relevant to note that, whereas Nigeria became a member of the OIC during the presidency of General Babangida, the first and only incumbent Head of State to attend a summit of the OIC was President Jonathan on 6th February, 2013 in Cairo where his host was President Morsi of Egypt, the fundamentalist leader of the Moslem Brotherhood.
Chief Adebanjo questioned the qualification of Buhari to contest the Presidential election. He asserted: “What the law says is this; you must have a school certificate before you can qualify. ---------Buhari has not satisfied the constitution.” Careful reading of the relevant sections of the constitution will demonstrate to even the proverbial ordinary Nigerian that these statements are most incorrect; the expositions of several senior members of the bar in the dailies provide confirmation. Coming from a man of Chief Adebanjo’s stature, the statements are surprising, disappointing and embarrassing.

Chief Adebanjo described the selection of Professor Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running-mate as “a gimmick”. He stated that Osinbajo: “—is a distinguished lawyer and a nice gentleman---has no political experience ---Tinubu brought him in as Attorney General, he was never in politics --- he is from Ikenne but does he know the politics of Ikenne?” This is most amazing! Chief Adebanjo knows that Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who became a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos over two decades ago, served as Adviser to Prince Bola Ajibola when the latter was Attorney General of the Federation in the late eighties, and gave widely-acclaimed meritorious service as Attorney General of Lagos State for two terms from 1999. In addition he has served with distinction in several capacities nationally and internationally, including the United Nations. He is clearly a distinguished lawyer who has cognate experience of governance by virtue of his eight-year membership of the cabinet of the Lagos State Government. The point is not that Chief Adebanjo should support the choice of Osinbajo. Rather it is his implied belief that knowledge of the politics of Ikenne –whatever that is – constitutes an/the important criterion in the selection of a candidate for the post of Vice-President!
Chief Adebanjo is well-known as a long-standing political associate of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and proudly asserts that he and his colleagues are disciples of the sage. The contributions of the sage to public discourse were always characterized by focus on issues, constructive criticism, and clear articulation of well-researched balanced arguments. . The statements in the interview reviewed do not reflect these hallmarks.

A disciple is a follower of the doctrines of a leader, teacher or school of thought. The quality of discipleship is a function not only of loyalty but also the disciple’s perception or understanding of the doctrines. The availability of relevant literature promotes discipleship, and facilitates assessment of its quality. Thus the Bible and Koran make it possible to evaluate the utterance and actions of self-professed Christians and Moslems. It is a blessing that the books written by Chief Awolowo, as well as lectures which he delivered and his contributions in parliament are readily available. They make it futile for any individual or group to claim proprietary rights to the sage.
End note: my sincere thanks to Professor Kayode Oyediran, the author of the above article, for being a mentor and major inspiration since I started my writing career around 1986. Indeed, he has been a mentor and great inspiration to many of us, especially his son-in-law and my best friend, Prince Adedamola Aderemi. I will forever treasure the special occasions we spent with him and his wonderful wife, Mrs Tola Oyediran (Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s eldest daughter) at their serene home in Ibadan. I’m privileged and honoured to have you grace my page today in Thisday, one of Africa’s most influential newspapers.

Thanks for your comments. Well I guess as ladies grow older it becomes more challenging breaking the hymen. A teenager will easily be done with compare to someone I in her twenties and some in early twenties will be easier compare thirties. And I guess the older the tough the hymen become. Just like female cow meat is usually tougher than male because of age. So penetration will occur gradually and with so much pain because of age. Well my native inteligence way of looking at it. But most importantly someone with fear of God and good values. So the moment we started talking, met her siblings, talk about values and the way she was treating other people not related to me I just knew she was the one. But most importantly we share the same faith and values. So I didnt need to wait any longer. Of course she was also pretty.

I never knew my work has just started. We couldnt perform our husband and wife duty very well because most nites wify was in pains and the hymen was yet to be broken. Then we started quarelling. For me I felt she wasnt enduring enough for her she felt I was insensitive to her pains. Gosh sex became a nightmare in the 1st one week. However gradually with endurance and patience on my part and she too very ready to cooperate we over came the barrier. By two weeks later men it was heaven on earth. So the story goes
