CabbieAC:No but I have family that do. |
raumdeuter:It is in Kwara so they could very well be Yoruba villages |
Nigerian newspapers have a history of exaggerating the truth and blatantly lying. How true do you think this is? http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/benin-republic-invaded-16-nigerian-villageshoist-flag-of-annexation/ |
This list is from 2014 so hopefully this year the ranking would have decreased and by the grace of God next year Nigeria will even be part of the ranking anymore. |
pazienza:I'm glad that you think so highly of Yoruba people. They are able to control the UN as well as the whole government of Nigeria to be able to fake such statistics. |

coolzeal:What report? The only report I remember is the UN report that showed that th SE has the highest level of poverty on the south. I also remember statistics from the national statistics agency showing that the SE has the lowest GDP figures in the south as well. |
I'm not in support of either side but this is funny ![]() |
Impressive Our government has really wasted all the money Nigeria gained from oil. When I look at poorer countries that are more developed than than Nigeria (and there are many), I feel like throwing up. Nigeria has been cursed with such terrible leaders. |
dejhigh:Agreed. Most black professional models in Nigeria and abroad tend to be dark skinned. Its only pageant winners that are usually light skinned but the only Nigerian to win Miss World was Agbani Darego who is dark skinned. |
I'll say that the the reason we are not seeing outrage from other countries affected by this disaster is because many Muslims are not outraged by what happened and the ones that may be are too afraid to speak against the Saudi government. I have relatives who are Muslims and when I was talking to them about this situation they told me that while it is sad that so many Muslims died, it is a dream of all Muslims to die during hajj because you get an automatic gateway to hevean. If people believe that, they may not feel uncomfortable grieving and being outraged over their relatives' death because they believe that is also a blessing. Outrage has also being muted because many Islamic countries are afraid of speaking negatively about the Suadi Arabian. I remember reading in the news that in one of the Islamic countries with a high death toll, citizens were warned by their own government not to say angthing too negative about the hajj disaster on TV. Eyewitness accounts have been scarce because people are uncomfortable with speaking negatively about hajj and the few that have been told have mostly been from Nigerians. Only Iran has shown genuine outrage over the hajj stampede and that is because even before this Saudi Arabia and Iran were not on good terms. |
Truckpusher:Yes it's sad that barely anymone has bothered to read or post on this thread even though it is very informative. |
temitemi1:The writing for the reactions was small. I just made it bigger. |
Nigeria provides gas to Ghana which meets 25% of Ghana's electrical needs. Nigeria had been planning on cutting Ghana's gas supply when the country had been unable to pay off its debt to Nigeria of $181 million. The two countries held emergency talks and Nigeria has decided to delay plans to cut Ghana's gas supply. Congrats |
LieDetector:Her husband isn't white he's mixed race Black + half-black = black He's the same colour as Ramsey Nouah and his children came out looking black.
|
tevinsolt:Thank You! I was just about to write that. Some people do not know their history and then come to Nairaland sprouting rubbish. |
I'm Nigerian. I hate it when you ask people where they are from and they say Africa. Africa is the second biggest continent in the world and there are 54 countries within it. Saying that they're from Africa doeesnt narrow anything down, I already knew they were from Africa because of their skin colour. Its so annoying and all it does it add to the belief that Subsahran Africa is one homogeneous entity and we are actually the most diverse place on earth. |
Standard of living- Lagos: There are a lot of amenities here that cannot be found anywhere else in Nigeria. According to UN statistics, Lagos also has the lowest poverty rate in the country Security- Ado, Ekiti: most peaceful city in the SW for me and I believe that SW is one of the more safer areas of Nigeria. You don't have to worry as much about terrorist or kidnappers Beauty/aesthetics- Calabar, Cross River- the city is just simply beautiful and filled with lots of natural beauty Serenity/orderliness- Calabar again Relaxation/Hospitality- Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja: I chose some of the most multicultural places in Nigeria. In these cities, most people from different ethnic groups get along without any major issues. |
dominique:You're crazy, in terms of beauty it is Agbani (by a wide margin) Genny Tiwa Oluchi Sexy Oluchi Tiwa Genny Agbani What Oluchi has is her sexiness, she's not that pretty but she is very charismatic. If you look at the picture of Agbani with Oluchi, Agbani was so pretty that she made Oluchi look ugly. |
Penssuwa:Exactly. That is my biggest fear. I only turn my fan at night when it gets unbearable hot. Using a ceiling fan makes me paranoid and unable to sleep. |
Truckpusher:I hope these northern elites eventually realize that such things are not sustainable, especially in the 21st century. The only place with a lower development index than Northern Nigeria is Niger and Chad. They cannot keep pushing the common man down in order to stay high. Eventually the people will revolt and since religion has been mixed into it, they are misguidedly revolting on Christians. This discussion is very important. I hope this thread makes the front page. |
Voodoo is not Nigerian. It's indigenous to the people of Ghana and Togo. |
Amnesty International is rubbish. They're reporting this but they're not reporting that innocent farmers and their families are being killed by the hundreds in the middle belt. I pity the true minorities of Nigeria. |
pazienza:I have a family that are Yoruba and indigenous to Edo. There are large communities of indiginous Yoruba people in Edo state. |
zendy:It is the same for Yorubas. Yorubas make up more than 60% of Kwara state in NC .They make up a sizable portion of Kogi state in NC and there are indigenous Yoruba communities in Edo in the SS. Igbos are not the only ones who have made sacrifices for one Nigeria so quit prentending it is so. |
So should Igbos then. Most of the Igbo state are not part of the Niger Delta or the oil producing region. |
Candybob:Compared to natural hair it is. Maintaining natural hair can be very time consuming. Washing, detangling, styling etc can take hours and even whole weekend's and the styles do not last for very long. Weave doesn't take that long to fix and you don't have to worry about it again for weeks. So Brazilian hair is much easier to maintain in comparison. This is coming from someone who is transitioning to natural hair. |
I tried a weave once and I couldn't stand it and I've never done it again. I've relaxed my hair since I was young but when I saw all of the beautiful style you could do with natural hair, I decided to go natural. I've been transitioning for 1 year now and I can't wait to chop off my relaxed ends. One of the main things that put me off natural hair before was that I believed the only style possible with it was an afro which I didn't really like. that are many different styles you can do with natural hair and they can look professional too!

If found guilty, I hope they are sent to prison. Just because they are women does not mean they cannot commit unlawful deeds. |
Lauryn Hill is so talented and she looks like Chidinma |
Chinom:There's no such thing as a British accent either. Scottish, Welsh and Irish people all have different accents from English people. And even within those places, there are many different accents. You wouldn't confuse a Scouse accent with a Cockney one even though they are both in England. The British accent just means all the accents that encompass the United Kingdom just like if someone refers to a Nigerian accent they mean all the accents found in Nigeria which includes, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani, Ijaw, etc. |
