I Sympathize With CCT Chairman Over His Case With EFCC – Senate President, Bukola Saraki

The Senate President of Nigeria, Sen. Bukola Saraki has sympathised with Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), over his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The CCT chairman is being accused of receiving gratification to influence a case that was before him.

For this, the anti-graft agency filed a two-count charge against him. But in a series of tweets and just before the commencement of the resumption of his CCT trial on Tuesday, Saraki said he found it amusing that the EFCC thinks Umar has a case to answer after it cleared him in 2016.

The senate president expressed his confidence in the judiciary to do justice. In Sen. Bukola Saraki's words;

“I sympathize with the chairman of the tribunal, Mr. Danladi Umar, for his travail in the hands of the EFCC which suddenly woke up four days to the resumption of this case to file criminal charges against him,” he tweeted.

“You will recall that in April 2016, when our lawyers asked the Tribunal Chairman to recuse himself from our case, because of the criminal investigation against him, the EFCC swiftly cleared Mr. Umar of any wrongdoing. "Now, I find it amusing, that in a dramatic turnaround, this same EFCC now thinks that Mr. Umar has a case to answer just before the commencement of my case before him. What has changed since April 2016?

“As much as many Nigerians want to continue to believe that this my case is merely about asset declaration irregularities, the maneuvers, manipulation, intrigues, schemes, and “House of Cards” nature of this whole case proves otherwise. "I really wonder whether those who genuinely love this government appreciate the damage that all this is doing to our so-called ‘War Against Corruption.’

“However, in all of this, my confidence in the judiciary and its ability to do justice in all cases, remains unshaken.”

Meet The Nigerian, Obi Okeke Who Bought Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veyron Worth N900million ($2.5Million)

Nigerian millionaire car dealer, Obi Okeke has made history in the United States after he doled a whopping $2.5million on Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veryon.

According to reports from US media, the 2015 version of the luxury car brand only had 1000 miles on it. Popularly known as Doctor Bugatti, Obi Okeke who came to the US as a 5-year-old refugee during the Nigerian 1967 Civil War is an experienced car dealer that services top clients like Floyd Mayweather.

Who is Obi Okeke?

Obi Okeke first came to the United States as a 5-year-old refugee during the Nigerian Civil War in 1967. His mother, from Ohio, was able to leave the country with him, but his father, who was born in Nigeria, stayed to fight.

Over four decades later, Okeke, now 53, is a fixture in the luxury automobile industry, dealing in cars that cost millions and selling to clients like Floyd Mayweather. After that first move to the US, Okeke returned with his family to Nigeria, where he stayed until attending a private high school in Switzerland.

And that’s when he discovered great cars. While in Switzerland, Okeke developed a love for European wheels. By the time he was 15, his teachers had already known that he would end up in the car business, he said. Following six years as the general manager of Ferrari-Maserati in Calabasas, California, Okeke in 2012 cofounded Fusion Luxury Motors in North Los Angeles with a man named Yoel Wazana.

Glo Slash Their Data Volume Into Half - If You Were Buying 2gb - N500, Now You Buy 1gb - N500

Nigeria owned telecom giants, globacom who prides and advertise themselves as the grandmasters of data has slashed their data volume into two and this simple means; if you are buying 2gb for N500 before, now N500 can only get you 1gb or if you are buying 4gb for N1000, now N1000 can only get you 2gb.

It seems things are getting tougher for the self acclaimed grandmasters of data as they also stopped the YouTube free data streaming at the bigining of this year and didn't even deem in necessary to inform their so called valued customers.

Man Builds Own Power Plant From Scratch And Connects Electricity To His Entire Village

Let me start by saying; there is no iota of doubt that Nigeria have best brains in every expect of life and talents are being wasted because nobody to sponsor most of this young and vibrant individuals. One of such individual today, regardless of the constraints and disabilities has come up with a power plant. His name is John Magiro Wangari.

According to Naij.com, this young man started toying with the idea of using his brother's bicycle's dynamo to produce energy because of the fact that they hardly have electricity and are confined to using only lamps and other achaic methods of lightening. He pondered over how the dynamo worked to produce light while riding the bicycle.

Wangari explained:

"I decided to combine the dynamo with an alternator from a car and took it to a waterfall. When the water spins the turbine, the turbine in turns spins the alternator, which then produces energy."a Wngari saw this as the only way he could address the challenge of using Kerosene lamps which posed many people to respiratory diseases as noted by health experts.

As of today, he has built a fully functional mini power plant and connected 250 homes in Murang'a county with affordable electricity.

Among those who have benefited from Wangari's self-made hydro-power include his village mate Shem Chege. According to Shem Chege, who is currently one of Wangari's customers, the rural electricity has had a huge impact in his house.

Chege said:

"It has helped us a lot. Back then I was using kerosene as source of light and for reading. Now I use the electricity to read and the children use it to do their homework."

The government has since taken note of the life-changing rural electrification initiative and has offered to support Wangari's project. According to Wangary, "They wanted to reward me for the renewable power plant. They gave me two transformers so that I could grow my business and sell affordable electricity to the villagers."

He now plans to double the connection from 250 homes in his village by building sub micro-hydro plants in other counties.

On Sunday night, official twitter handle of President Buhari shared pictures and video of the President shaking hands with Obasanjo. Buhari was seen giggling and sharing few words with Obasanjo and former head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar.

This is coming days after the ex president, Olusegun Obasanjo released a 13 paged letter advising President Buhari to desist from contesting the 2019 re-election.

Reacting to the meeting, Aisha encouraged Buhari to heed Obasanjo’s advice not to seek re-election in 2019.

She wrote “Mr President hope you can see life out of power is not that bad.“ There is so much you can do out there.”

The paramount ruler and King of Iwo land, Osun state, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, has attacked the Federal government of Nigeria saying that field grazing and cattle roaming is barbaric and should be abolished at once as they do not conform to modernization and 21st century development of any country.

Mr. AbdulRasheed made this statement during a meeting with stakeholders at his palace focusing on solutions to herdsmen incessant attacks on innocent Nigerians.

According to him;

No government that wants to move forward will encourage grazing and that there is no place in the world where government acquires land on behalf of herdsmen for the purpose of cattle grazing. Fulani Herdsmen can either rent, lease or buy lands for pen/byre construction to house their cattle and that it is at the farmer’s or land owner’s discretion to sell to them.

He continued ....

“The herdsmen got it wrong due to lack of education towards animal farming in the 21st century. The alternative to grazing is pen with sufficient hay storage. This will help restrict the cows to the confines of the pen- which is a controlled area. That is how it is done in advanced country. You can never see herdsmen grazing cattle in Europe,” the monarch said.

“The herdsmen can even purchase hays to feed the cows, (and) can be purchased from the farmers thereby establishing and sustaining a peaceful affinity with farmers across Nigeria,” he added.

Mr. AbdulRasheed advised the federal government that the solution to Fulani herdsmen/farmers recurring clash is proper orientation and education on modernized animal farming and not acquiring hectares of land on behalf of herdsmen as grazing zone across the federation.

Muhammadu Buhari Has Reduced Himself To President Of Katsina - Afenifere Group Leader, Adebanjo


The elder statesman and a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari, of reducing himself to President of Katsina.

Pa Adebanjo, was reacting to a statement written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, rubbishing the Buhari-led government. The leader of the influential Afenifere group, also addressed the issue of restructuring, saying it should be clear now to Buhari and all those opposed to it that it was the solution to the key challenges facing the country.

In his words;

“If Buhari has been sincere about keeping Nigeria together in peace, he should have called them to address their grievances but he intimidated and wanted to butcher and kill them in their land. It shows in everything that he does that he is the President of Katsina State and not of Nigeria!”

Speaking on Obasanjo’s letter, the elder statesman said;

“When Obasanjo said both APC and PDP cannot take us anywhere, I agree with him. But any party Obasanjo is interested in, I am out of it because Obasanjo will not support anything except he has vested interest. I am interested in the message and not the messenger on this occasion.”

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (SAN), former Minister of Aviation, has reacted to an order by President Muhammadu Buhari, directing security agencies to tackle the propagation of hate speeches, especially through social media.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle, the former presidential aide stated that the order will only strengthen hate speakers, adding that he is not scared. He wrote;

"Threatening to arrest “prominent people” that speak out against Buhari on social media changes nothing. It will only swell our ranks and strengthen our resolve. ”To resist evil and oppose tyranny is a divine obligation and sacred duty. Every true leader must honor it. NO FEAR!
