apart from that, if those animals were gay how did those species continue to this day esp when those species do not exhibit sex change due to environmental condition. also it its quite noted that animals abhor differences and thus try to kill such fellow animals. I view gays as social/population control or how do you explain what the Greeks and Romans practiced and concealed as something that became a forced social norm. I personally blame Hitler because whatever he persecuted the west decided to do the opposite as they do not want to be associated/likened to him.

PoliticsRe: Flash Back: When FFK Blamed Ghadaffi's Death For Influx Of Arms And Boko-haram by Bundaweber: 8:26pm On Apr 14, 2018
saaron:
Do you know what these BMC members are trying to do? They are trying to give international coloration to an obvious locally organized genocide against innocent people in Nigeria using the cover of Gadaffi and cross border arms movement as if cross border arms shipment started today.
l just have to comment on this. Gaddafi had stockpiles of arms, with his death profiteer have sought to make business with it. Similar to the fall of communism. Nigeria is known in certain circles as the hub/market of illegal arms in Africa. its one of the reasons whenever criminals are caught, they are always with sophisticated weaponry. secondly, the farmer/nomad clash has always been happening all over the world since time immemorial. in fact I believe I read somewhere that the munghals where nomads but they came to conquer large swats of territory from China to India to the Russian steppes. What you have to understand is that this current incarnation of the crisis is caused by several factors including but not limited to environmental factor (climate change), the instability in northern/central/parts of eastern Africa e.t.c . If you had gone to school esp around the late nineties/early two thousand and listened to your teachers, you would have been taught that the herdsmen move to the south during the dry season and migrate back to the north during the rainy season mostly due to the tse the fly which usually caused sleeping disease in the cattle and lead to huge number of deaths. Due to the worsening climatic conditions up north, they have to migrate near south as much as possible risking death caused by the tse tse fly and other diseases. Thirdly, for you to scream genocide reeks of a high level of ignorance and its quite alarming for such statements to be made on a popular platform as nairaland and in a time such as this where majority of the population utilizing the internet in Nigeria are quite ignorant and are not above spreading misinformation and rumors. Genocide is a very strong term and for you to bandy it about reeks of a sense of thoughtlessness. Just because you dislike the government of today, does not give you the audacity to spread false and malicious statement. To assume genocide is to say that the military and the leaders are complicit. That is to say the northern, eastern, south western, Niger deltan, middle beltan soldiers/office holders are all complicit in the genocide which means your thought quite stupidly proposes that all these persons from diverse backgrounds are all complicit in the death(or as you say) genocide of their people. Mister man such conspiracy will blow up even before it gets moving. Funny enough, until these clashes occurred in Benue, ortom was one of the worse performing governors. I even rember reading about when he went to a market and was shot at. At that time he did not even hesitate to point fingers. Now a days, he is considered very highly. Food for thought, don't you think? What the president has said is quite right. its one of the contributing factors or did you not care to take a look at the crime statistics. For those commenting on guarding the border, Nigeria has over 1200 exit/entry points and more are being created by scrupulous individuals. now realistically with the staff strength, size and equipments of the Nigerian border agency, its not enough to cover 70% of our borders. best that can be done is to budget hundreds of billions for over the course of a few years to realistically see a change in status quo.

FamilyRe: 10 Richest Families In Nigeria 2018 By ManucheTv by Bundaweber: 8:07pm On Apr 06, 2018
frankwealth:
Those saying there are no Igbo family on the list, you ought not to be surprised, ask me whyhuh

After the 1967 - 1969 Nigeria-Biafra civil war, Igbos lost a lot; Odimegwu Ojukwu's father was the richest man in West Africa as at then, Nwafor Orizu too followed closely but after the civil war, Igbos lost their properties in Lagos, Portharcourt, Kano, Kaduna, etc. Aside properties, Igbos also lost millions if not billions kept in Nigerian banks as they were handed 10 pounds or so no matter how much millions the Igbo person had in his or her bank account before the war started.

Now after the war, all Igbo top military officers were retired compulsorily, all top government officials and civil servants sacked. Igbos had to start life from the scratch starting from 1970.

It didn't stop there.

The successive military governments after the war made sure Igbos were not appointed to key positions, especially those concerning security, and it was at this time most rich Nigerian families you hear of today started amassing wealth through dinning with the military heads of states and governors who were dashing them crude oil blocs, giving them government contracts without monitoring, giving them import waivers, trade advantages and all sort of trade and business favors including FOREX waivers which is one of the things that made Aliko Dangote the richest man in Africa he is today.

If you observe all the current Nigerian millionaires and billionaires today, 95% of them got their wealth through crude oil related deal and through government favor. And Igbos were not favoured by Nigerian government after the end of the civil war, so don't be surprised.

Majority of rich Igbos you hear or see made it through sheer hardwork without any federal government favour, only very few like the Uba family, etc got favor from OBJ.

But with time, I see Igbos flying above odds by making their wealth through technology, trade, sports, entertainment and ICT, this will be followed closely by the Yorubas who are doing exceedingly well in terms of technology.

In a saner nation, majority of these people ought to be serving jail term for looting the Nigerian nation to enrich their family pockets.

Today, former South Korean president who happened to be the daughter of late South Korean military dictator was sentenced to 25yrs in jail. S. Koreans protested until she resigned on alleged corruption allegation and now she has been convicted and jailed despite being the president and daughter of a powerful leader.

Former Brazilian president too is on trial to be convicted soonest....all because of suspected corruption allegation against him.

Hungary is doing same...so many other progressive nations, even South Africa recently did same and their president had to resign to give way for proper prosecution. It is a thing of shame for Nigeria and all Nigerians.

These are countries that want to progress.

If Nigerians were united, people like OBJ, Goodluck Jonathan ought to be in jail, and Buhari ought to have resigned and facing a very serious corruption and crime charges, but hell no, Nigerians celebrate criminals and still hope to get a better nation soon, howhuh
how will we be united when you keep bringing Igbo's, Hausa and all other ethnic sentiments. Make your point without all those. As for me, seeing that list makes me ashamed, most of those so called families up there have looted the hell out of Nigeria. How can we hope to develop when those few hold on to the resources of hundreds of millions of Nigerians. No wonder it was once reported that over 90% of the wealth in this country is concentrated in the hands of less than 2% of our population. Imagine that. We have failed as a people as we continue to pride materialism over the welfare of our fellow man. It is that materialistic attitude that would make people celebrate a man who has looted the common wealth, they would even defend him as if he was their god. That was why I floated a WhatsApp group for anyone who feels he has an idea of moving this country forwards. Let's forget about ethnic sentiments, if a person that is from my ethnic group loots, na all of us go suffer the consequence. I wonder why the mods deleted the group info which I posted.

You're right.

But the truth of the matter is,Fela did.
Some people where educated. Especially people like us.

However, that was in the 70s,80s and early 90s.
That was in military regime.
That was when there where no internet but still, some few were educated, and the nation benefited one way or the other.

Today's the story is different. That was why a sitting president was voted out for the first time in history of this nation.
Today we have the internet. One million Fela can be speaking at the same time with little or no restriction.
Today, average people are being informed than ever with Facebook, WhatsApp and the rest.

The mistake done in the past by some sincere elite, who choosed to be quiet, who decided not to participate, who decided not to join hands with Fela, has been the nation's worst regret.
Those of us who are fortunate(informed) today, shouldn't toe the same part, regardless of how comfortable we might be in our homes.

Thanks.

I absolutely agree with u.

But your point alighted I believe, should be the first point of call. We can include the use of our various local languages which I believe would help.

On your point of banning local languages in our schools, I believed that should be discuss when we get to the top. That way,u wount be stepping on too many toes especially among the lower/uneducated class.

The power of educating people of how their society is been run(wrongly) is huge I tell u.

I was in an argument with some adults(die hard voters),2men and a women. After explaining to them how the future of their children is been sold, how our school is neglected (why the elite take their children abroad for education). How our hospitals is been neglected. How our senators received 22-24m monthly with no impact in their constituency. How ordinary aid are having Billions in their accounts. I tell u,they were angrier than I was. That moment, their mentality changed.
That is the power of feeding the right people with the right information. With people like them, the right movement can be form,to get the right people in leadership.

Thank u.

Using this flawed logic, assuming ABC, GIG and The Young collaborate to repair certain roads they ply frequently. Others refused entering such foolish agreement, can ABC, GIG and TY stop them from plying the roads? If no, why? If yes, why? The day a private firm construct a road, they own it for 99 years (Land Use Act) and can do whatever they like with it. Including charging other users however they like.

It is not the responsibility of private firms to construct roads. I wonder where you get such from. What then becomes of the government? Collect taxes? No, I won't pay a single tax if I construct 1KM!

For the sake of profit, a firm can also construct a road and still charge other users. Win:win. How they desire to do such won't be your worries. Just get ready to pay whatever amount they state.
I used that as an example. if you had read through my first response you would have seen where I referred to a real life example. Like I said an ideal firm is all about profit . I gave a n example up there its left for the firm to determine it viability. That is the con of privatisation. I only stated that there is huge infrastructural deficit in Nigeria. That's one way out. if you have a firm keep waiting for government to repair your roads, but whatever loss you make is your concern. whatever tax you pay goes to service urgent needs. if you are a smooth operator, you can ask for tax relief if you embark on the project

Oga, it's not the responsibility of private individuals to construct roads. That's not done anywhere. Why should they pay taxes then? When everything has been done by them?

If a private firm do what you recommend, then they have full rights over that road and could toll you for using it. And hopefully, you don't complain.
we have a huge infrastructural deficit. I live in an area where every single road is bad. let me tell you if I am asked to pay a toll. then yes I will. You talk about privatization why not extend it to roads. I can categorically tell you of some communities in Nigeria that have not had roads constructed since 1920. Anyway a private firm that notices a loss due to bad roads can determine that it is more profitable to construct roads rather than waiting for government. For instance a group of transportation firms can determine that they make severe loses due to bad roads, they can decide that it is more cost effective to repair the road for profits. I still maintain a firm, can for the sake of profit take over repair and construction of roads strategic to them, after all what is a firm if its goal is not to make profit.

Thanks.

you've hit the nail on the head. imagine most people in this country are materialistic. if you dare question what their benefactor does for a living, heaven help you. The years of misadministration has caused a severe rot in our moral fibre. it gets worse when it comes to tribalism or ethnocentrisms. The first step I can see to solving this problem is the banning of local languages in primary and secondary school and rather standardization of pidgin. Pidgin is quite widespread and should be adopted as our local language.
But what we can do on our own as concerned individuals is to sensitize our people on the rot perpetuated by the political class and that they should learn not to take sides and that the should learn not to sell their conscience. we should learn that peaceful protest is a way to show government of your displeasure. We should also learn to monitor the government and their every single expenditure. BUDGIT is a great start, but there should be more, we should learn to use any discrepancies found by such CSOs as points in our protest. We should also be weary of allowing old leaders with axe to grind or with something to gain or manipulate to affect our views.
