Today, christians cannot get any special revelation from anyone apart from the one that God has revealed through the Bible. Suppose a person calling himself a prophet comes to you with a book in which he has written all ‘the revelations’ he has got from God, will christians add that book to the Bible so that you have a Bible with 67 books? Would Christians call that book the Word of God as you call the Bible? Certainly not! Yet what God revealed to the prophets of the old is contained in the Bible as God’s own word. Is this clear to everyone?

The gift of prophecy is only necessary when God wants to give additional revelation (when He wants to reveal more of Himself than He has revealed up to that point in time). A person who says he has the gift of prophecy and he is a "prophet" present today is invariably saying that the Bible is not complete and that we need more material revealed from God. However, God says the Bible is complete and there is no additional revelation needed. "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book" (Rev. 22:18).

There are no more prophets today! Anyone that says he is a modern day prophet is actually a diviner or more appropriately a necromancer. As some tried to portray before, modern day prophets are akin to babalawo/dibia. They are all purveyors of snake oil as elixir of the ailments of the ignorant.
