Saskay, Big Brother Naija housemate has revealed that she was supposed to get married next year.

The 21-year-old, who had earlier said the boyfriend warned her not to come to the show, made this known on Sunday.

A former Commissioner for Sports in Abia State, Uche Mpamah, has been confirmed dead.

The late Mpamah died of undisclosed illness on Saturday.

The deceased served as Commissioner under the administration of former Governor Theodore Orji now the Senator, representing Abia central senatorial district in the National Assembly.

The late ex-Commissioner hailed from Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ibere clan in Ikwuano Local government area in Abia central zone of the state.

Until his demise, the late Mpamma was a grassroots and consummate politician, and contested for the House of Representatives ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during its 2018 primaries for the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency seat of Abia state.

The deceased was also a one-time elected Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Chairman, Board of Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State and a former Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

Meanwhile, the Member representing Ikuwano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives, Hon Sam Onuigbo has expressed sadness over the passing of the former Commissioner of Sports Chief Uche Mpamah.

The federal lawmaker described the demise of Late Uche Mpamah as a huge loss to the people of the state. .

According to Rep Onuigbo in a condolence message on Sunday, “I received with immense sadness this morning the news of the death of my brother, Hon Chief Uche Francis Mpamah (Ohamadike).

“There are no words that can best convey the devastation I feel in my soul at this huge loss to not only his immediate family, but to the entire people of Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ibere Clan, Ikwuano, and indeed Abia State.

“I and my family are devastated about this loss, but we must bow to the superior will of God”.

The Abia lawmaker, on behalf of his family and the good people of great Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, commiserated with Mpamah’s immediate family and the entire people of Obuohia Obi-Ibere and Ikwuano over the unfortunate death.

Onuigbo, however, prayed God almighty to grant family, friends and associates of the Late Uche Mpamah, the strength to come to terms with the huge loss.

A twenty-one year old student of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, Olaleye Rosheed, on Thursday bagged twelve months jail term over offences bordering on attempted cheating and internet fraud.

He was sentenced by Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.

Olaleye was prosecuted on one-count charge by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The charge sheet read; “That you, Olaleye Rosheed (Christiana Lopez) sometime in January,2021 at Ilorin within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, pretended to be one Christiana Lopez, a white female with a gmail account christianalopez 105@gmail.com and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 95 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same Penal code.”

The defendant pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him in court.

Following his plea, the Counsel to the anti-graft agency, Sesan Ola reviewed the facts of the case through an operative of the commission, who narrated how intelligence led to the arrest of the defendant on July 24,2021. .

The witness told the court that several fraudulent messages printed from Olaleye’s email, including the iPhone recovered from him at the point of arrest, were tendered and admitted in evidence.

Delivering judgement, Justice Oyinloye said “I have carefully considered the facts and circumstances of this case, especially the lone count charge, the plea of guilt entered by the defendant, his extra-judicial statements and unchallenged testimonies of the prosecution witness.

“This honorable court holds the view that the prosecution has succeeded in proving its case beyond reasonable doubt.”

“This court finds the defendant guilty of the allegation levelled against him and he is hereby convicted,” the trial judge declared.

After listening to the plea made by the defence counsel, Justice Oyinloye sentenced Olaleye to one year imprisonment with an option of N200,000 fine.

The iPhone recovered from him was also forfeited to the Federal Government.

Tega’s husband made the revelation in a post on his official Instagram page on Tuesday.

He was reacting to her statement that she will move on with her life if her marriage ends after the show.

Looking feeble, malnourished, lost, and dirty, the kidnapped pupils of Salihu Islamic school, Tegina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State arrived Minna, the State capital along with their teachers in the vehicles dispatched by the State Government to convey them back to freedom and to reunite them with their parents from the Birnin Gwari forest, where they sojourned against their will for 89 days.

The children were left to their fates as hostage for almost three months, where they were made to undergo various inhuman treatments, such as hunger, sicknesses, beatings among others, despite the ransoms paid by their parents.

This is also as the state government which claimed it knows where they were kept maintained its no payment of ransom posture, until two days ago.

Narrating some of their ordeals, one of the victims, Musa claimed that the day they were kidnapped, they trekked for hours without food or water to drink.

“We trekked for days without food and water. We only rested a little when the bandits noticed that we were tired and afterward continued. And it was so difficult since we had to carry the little ones on the back as they could no longer walk because they were weak and tired before we finally got to the hideouts of the bandits in the forest.”

According to them, the bandits fed them with Indomie and some times beans on their hands, which was never enough to satisfy any of them.

” Since we got kidnapped, we never took our bath. We were fed with small amount of Indomie or beans on our hands. Some days, we stayed hungry as there was nothing to eat. We were kept together in one small room in the forest. Some times, we were beaten if we try to complain of hunger or ask questions. We thank God we are alive and reunited with our families.”

Some of the parents appeared very happy with tears of joy appreciated God for the safe release of their children.

Some who spoke to DAILY POST said they thank God for the safe return of their children, “We never prayed that this should happen again or to any parent. It was a painful and traumatic experience for all of us.”

One of the parents, name withheld described the 89 days his children stayed with the bandits as the most agonizing period of his life, especially not knowing if their children were alive or dead.

“Every day we wake up then was with pain. Some of us, parents as a result of this issue became hypertensive. But we thank God that the ramsons kept our children alive until they were rescued. Even though, we sold our valuables, we are happy our children returned back home alive.”

The Proprietor of Islamic school, Mallam Idris Umar and father of a deceased abducted kid said though, he was happy with the safe return of the pupils, he is pained by the inability to give his son a proper burial.

The deceased victim whose name was withheld is said to be between 8 and 9 years of age..

Umar whose five children were among the 91 children kidnapped told journalists in Minna, ” Though, I see the death of my child as the will of God, I would have been more fulfilled if the child had died at home. This would have given me the opportunity to give him a befitting burial. I thank Allah that the other three are alive and also other children that were kidnapped. Their continued stay with the Bandits was a traumatic experience for all of us”

” But despite all that happened, today everyone is happy over the release of the entire children. We thank God that all our pains and sufferings are over.”

Sharing a similar emotion, the Head Teacher of the Islamiya, Alhassan Ahmed expressed pains as well as joy over the release of the children, after a long stay in the hands of the bandits.

Though, he stated that ransoms were paid to secure the freedom of the abductees, parents have no regrets for whatever amount they paid to the bandits that assisted towards the safe release of their children alive.

” Except for the child that we lost, we thank Allah that all of them returned alive and well.”

However, Ahmed was tactical on the issue of ramsons paid saying, “on the issue of ransoms payment, I meant the ones gathered by the parents, it doesn’t doesn’t mean the state government.”

The release of the abducted children is coming barely two weeks after the rescue of the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon Mohammed Sani Idris and the zonal chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Zone ‘C’ who was abducted between 8th and 9th of August, 2021 and freed five days later.

The freedom of the two politicians in the state was accompanied by outrage from people of the state, especially on their swift release.

Though, the commissioner hinged his rescue on his philanthropy and prayers by his family, while ruling away payment of ransoms as he claimed if Government had paid, he would have resigned his appointment as commissioner.

A few days later, the state police command in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO DSP Wasiu Abiodun contradicted the commissioner, saying it was responsible for his rescue alongside the zonal APC chairman through the tactic team of the state Command. .

Idris was kidnapped by heavily armed bandits in his residence at his hometown of Babban Tunga in Tafa local government area of the state during a heavy rainfall around 11 pm on Sunday night and whisked away on foot to an unknown destination.

The release of the duo led to public outrage as the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, concerned people, journalists, parents of the children among others called on the government to employ the same mechanism it adopted in securing the freedom of the commissioner and the zonal chairman to secure that of the pupils.

The PDP in a statement issued by the state chairman, Bar. Tanko Beji then said it was good that the commissioner and the APC zonal chairman were rescued, but called on the State Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello to employ similar tactics to rescue pupils from the den of the daredevil terrorists.

According to him, ” the PDP values all lives as equal and wishes all persons, children, women, poor or rich, commissioner or cleaner be given maximum state protection as that is what a responsible government does”

Similarly, reacting to the development, parents of the abducted children through the head teacher, Alhasan Garba Abubakar, urged the government to use the same “miracle formula” used to rescue pupils as well as prevent another attack on any school in the state.

” Accepted that they were released without paying ransom as they claimed since government said it cannot pay ransom to bandits, but we are appealing to them to use the same prayers and tactics they used for their miraculous release to release our children.”

An artisan, Saviour Aniefok, has allegedly tortured his seven-year-old son, Nathaniel, to death at his residence at Amen Compound, in the Shangisha area of Magodo Phase 2, Lagos State.

Saviour, who is said to be on the run, reportedly tortured the victim on the allegation that he stole a piece of fish belonging to one of his customers.

It was learnt that the customer requested the deceased father’s services in repairing a faulty microwave.

The customer was said to have given Saviour a piece of fish to test the microwave after it was repaired.

While delivering the repaired microwave to the customer, Saviour reportedly forgot the fish at his shop.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Saviour took the fish home for preservation and eventual delivery to the customer when he returned to his shop.

When our correspondent visited his residence in Shangisha on Monday, residents, including neighbours, said they heard Nathaniel writhing in pain when his father was beating him.

One of the neighbours stated that Saviour was fond of torturing Nathaniel and his brother, Charles.

The neighbour said, “I still saw Nathaniel on Sunday afternoon. In fact, I gave him snacks to eat.

“Around 10pm, we started to hear Nathaniel shouting and crying for help; we also heard loud bangs on the floor and wall indicating that he was being beaten.

“As he was crying, Saviour was telling him to shut up. I personally thought their stepmother was at home to caution him. But later, we got to know she had travelled. Surprisingly, I heard Nathaniel died the following day.”

Another neighbour said the father facilitated Nathaniel’s burial the following day, adding that he went into hiding and took Charles along to conceal the crime.

“I was told his father said he was sick; someone that I saw playing in the compound. The injuries he sustained during the torture must have been responsible for his death.

“We only saw Saviour on two separate occasions after his son died. We have also not seen the stepmother of the children.

“We learnt that the police have arrested his brother but we don’t know if Saviour has been arrested. I have seen him torturing one of the boys to the point of carrying the boy up and slamming him to the ground,” the neighbour said.

Another neighbour said he saw Saviour and three other persons attempting to convey Nathaniel to a location in the state around 4am.

He said, “I saw Nathaniel lying naked in the back seat of Saviour’s car. I observed that a pain relief substance had been used to massage his body because I smelt it. I was on my way to work when I saw them.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that some good Samaritans contacted the Child Protection Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, which informed the Isheri Police Division to investigate the case.

When contacted, Saviour denied torturing his son to death, adding that Nathaniel was fleeing from being disciplined for stealing his customer’s fish when he fell and smashed his head on tiles. Daily Prayers

He said, “I didn’t torture my son to death. After I returned from church on Sunday, I got home and realised my customer’s fish had been touched. I asked who touched it and Charles said he was not the one.

“I asked Nathaniel, but he also denied it. I was going inside my room when Nathaniel thought I wanted to get a cane and as he attempted to run, he fell and hit his head on the tiles.

“I observed he was behaving strangely around 2am, so I quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital but it was locked. I rushed him to another hospital in Ketu, where he was referred to another hospital, but he died.

“I didn’t go into hiding; my mother was sick, and I came home with my other child to see her and tell her what happened. I wanted to return to Lagos today but the IPOB stay-at-home order prevented me.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said he was going to get back to our correspondent but had yet to do so as of the time this report was filed.

The Imo State Police Command has shot dead a suspected kidnapper after a gun duel with the suspected hoodlums in their hideout at a forest in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Hussaini Rabiu, in a statement made available to journalists in Imo on Monday.

He said “Sequel to a report of kidnapping, on 19/8/2021 at about 1800 hours, by one Obinna Odika ‘M’ of Human Race Estate Naze in Owerri North LGA of Imo State, that his wife and three children namely; Chinenye Odika ‘F’ age 27 years, Chika Mark ‘F’ age 9 years, Chisom Mark ‘F’ age 14 years and Princess Odika ‘ F’ age 6 months all of Human Race Estate Naze, Owerri North LGA of Imo State, were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in their Estate. ” Prayer To Be Rich

“The Imo State command’s Control Room immediately disseminated the report to all the police formations and tactical units for prompt interception and arrest of the kidnappers. ”

“On the same day at about 2230 hours luck ran against the kidnappers, when the ever-active Ngor Okpala police Division Patrol Team on receipt of the report intensified its patrols and in the process intercepted and arrested three members of the kidnapping gang namely; Udochukwu Edmund ‘M’ age 38 years of Umuezu Onitsha Ezinihitte in Mbaise LGA of Imo State, Uba Edmund ‘M’ age 45 years of the same address, John Okoroafor ‘ M ‘ age 33 years of Amucha Isu Njaba LGA of Imo State, and handed them over to the Command’s Anti-kidnapping unit for diligent investigation. ”

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and led the Tactical teams to their hideout in a forest in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State. On sighting the police, they fired at them and the police retaliated. In the gun duel, one of the kidnappers was neutralised while two other were arrested with bullet injuries. On searching their hideout, one pump action gun, three locally made Pistols, fourteen rounds of live cartridges and three hundred and sixty-one thousand naira (#361,000.00) suspected to be part of the ransom money collected were recovered. Also recovered are one sea blue coloured Sienna vehicle with registration number IMO STATE, WER 969 ZE and a motorcycle with registration number KWE 310 QX used by the suspects in kidnapping the victims.”

“On further interrogation, the arrested suspects revealed where the kidnapped victims were kept and led the ever active and gallant tactical teams of the command to Central Primary School, Mbutu Okeohia in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State, where the four kidnapped victims were rescued safe, unhurt and have been reunited with their families.”

“The two injured suspects were taken to the Federal Medical Centre Owerri, for medical treatment. While efforts are on to arrest the remnants of the syndicate for prosecution. ”

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Hussaini Rabiu psc, while commending the quick response of the command’s officers and men and the gallantry exhibited in the rescue of the kidnapped victims, advised the good people of Imo State to always report incidents promptly to the police for the timely intervention of the Command’s Quick Response Units. He also called on Imolites to assist the Command with credible information and to report any suspicious activity observed within their environment to the nearest police station.”

Emmanuel, one of the Big Brother Naija, BBNaija housemate has said he would like Saga to be evicted from the reality show.

Emmanuel said this during his diary session with Biggie.

When asked who he would love to evict from the reality show, Emmanuel mentioned Saga.

“I’ll choose Saga to be evicted. He’s so smart and I see him as a competition.

“It’s a game so I’ll nominate any housemate I see as a threat to winning for eviction,” Emmanuel said.

Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health have recovered the decomposing remains of a yet-to-be-identified man from a bush in Odogunyan, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the corpse was discovered when residents of the Oguntade Oloja community in Odogunyan started perceiving a stench emanating from the bamboo bush in the community.

In a bid to ascertain the cause of the odour, the residents were said to have combed the bush and saw the lifeless body of the man on the ground.

A source said efforts to salvage the situation prompted the Chairman, Oguntade Oloja Community Development Association, Gbolahan Kolawole, to report the incident to the police.

The source said, “It was the community members, led by the CDA chairman, that reported to the police that a decomposing corpse was found in the bush on August 14, 2021.

“But the police could not remove the corpse because of health reasons. So, the police alerted the health workers from the Lagos State Ministry of Health and their officials visited the community to remove the body. Daily Prayers

“Since the corpse was already decomposing, it means it has been awhile since it was there and there has been no means of identification or address to locate the family members of the deceased person. We suspect that the man was killed and his corpse dumped in the bush.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed a discreet investigation to be carried out in respect of the case. As investigation is ongoing, we enjoin anyone with useful information about the identity and circumstances surrounding the death of the man to give it to the police for necessary action.”

About five persons have died in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, following a ghastly motor accident along the LNG junction, Tombia-Amassoma road of the state.

The accident, which caused traffic gridlock along the road leading to the state-owned Niger Delta University, NDU, and the Bayelsa International Airport, left three female and two male victims dead on the spot.

The spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the development on Friday to DAILY POST, said the fatal motor accident occurred on Thursday at about 4.40pm and involved a Toyota Venza with Reg. N0. KMK 617 BY and two Tricycles with Reg. No. NSK 073 QH and LND 223 QH. Night Prayers

He said, “Five corpses were evacuated from the scene and three of them have been identified as, Okon Daniel ‘m’ 47 years, Oweinkuro Profit ‘m’ 52 years, and Mrs. Domoye Ikpaipai ‘f’ 73 years.

The other two corpses are a middle-aged male and female”.

One of the victims has also been identified as a staff of the popular hangout in the Bayelsa State capital, Asters and a student of the State-owned Niger Delta University Amassoma.

Butswat also told DAILY POST that police operatives are on the trail of one Buthurst Augusta Nyoun, who drove the Toyota Venza that allegedly caused the accident and absconded from the scene.

”The Police have launched a manhunt for the accused female who drove the Venza for possible culpable homicide. An investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing woman, “The sketch marks of the scene of the accident have been taken and investigation is ongoing”

Also, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the Bayelsa Sector Command, Mr. Soroh Tonye, who confirmed the number of causalities to our correspondent, said that four persons died on the spot, while another victim died on the way to the hospital.

The FRSC also attributed the probable cause to be overspeeding during the rainfall. At the time of filing this report, no one was yet to ascertain the identities of the deceased victims. Other victims of the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri under the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.
