Its day 5. I'm coping just fine. I can sit and drive short distances. The surgery site is still oozing exudates with occasional strands of hair. Every hair strand I see confirms the tunnel is still cleaning out and that's quite consoling. Exudates look a lot like pus but is thinner with a tinge of green and doesn't smell at all. I have an A.P with the prof today |
Its an act of stigmatisation and a desperate attempt at self preservation at the same time. I imagine a scenario where even a condomised guy quivers at the sight of hiv mark of the beast and runs out of the brothel unclad. Im not totally against it though. Atleast the sign isnt on your forehead and except you're about to have sex and probably spread the infection, no one will know |
PRISTINEMUSCLES:Thanks alot. Incidence is pretty low- 26 in 100,000. Success of therapy depends 90% on post op care. I'm on it and your best wishes are welcome |
Events of the last one year has made me genuinely empathise with folks having uncommon complex illnesses in Nigeria and other third world countries. This is my pilonidal diary, someone might find it useful. A pilonidal is a blind ending tract that runs from the natal cleft upwards. A tract is like a tiny tunnel. The natal cleft is the ditch between your butt cheeks. It is a benign often chronic condition associated with an abscess (boil) that discharges intermittently and usually located at the junction between your butt and your back. As days turn to months and years, it should become apparent to any naive sufferer that it is more than just a boil. It will amaze you how very few doctors in Nigeria really know what a pilonidal sinus is and surgical therapies available to manage it. It is a "fascinating" disease that has irked surgeons leading to several proposed approaches. Some favourable approaches require resources that are unavailable in Nigeria, e.g FIBRIN GLUE. Your butt is as HAIRY as a gorrilla, you SIT for hours at work or downright lazy, You carry on with a smelly UNHYGIENIC butt, OBESE like an elephant or have FAMILY history of anal issues; these are risk factors. Mine is the first two. Gratefully my boil never exceeded the size of a bean, but i wanted to get rid of it. After a failed first excision I got warmed up to finally crush the boil. I read volumes about the condition and had become a professor of pilonidal excision by my own right. I could use a sledge hammer or tacitly end its charade. I opted for the later. I cautiously chose a renowned professor of surgery I hoped fully understood the disease. I WAS WRONG!!! When the professor explained how he was going to perform surgery, I was petrified! I feared that my butt will never recover from such trauma if I quietly let him go on with it. I've sacrificed a lot already to have another failed surgery. UNLIKE MOST DOCTORS though, prof had such an amiable and receptive persona. He listened as I delivered a passionate lecture on how a funeral service for pilonidal sinus should be properly conducted. I capped it with a power point on my mini tab prepared by JOHN BASCOM. His expression was revealing. He had just realised the enormity of the condition. Fully armed, we headed for the theatre. He found a PIT (actual sinus opening) excised it and closed it. He then incised and drained the lateral abscess, this was left open to heal SECONDARILY (on its own). I left the hospital 30 minutes after feeling hopeful. 45 minutes later I was in a pool of blood. I had an arterial bleed from the excision site. My dad drove me back to the hospital. I had a stitch placed over that end of the incision. Surgery day was eventful but over. Twice daily dressings of the open wound is compulsory and rigorous. I carefully skipped details on the dreaded sensation- PAIN and how it dotted every step of my therapy so far. Its post op day 4 and I'm doing fine, just out of work and losing money. UPDATES AS I PROGRESS........

Is Obama a true democrat? Is America the definition of democracy?

Unsung victims. Your hearts must really bleed to realise that over 200 of you were kidnapped and no one knew. There were no campaigns or hash tags for your release. But here we are. God once again showed mercy to the unrecognised, the despised. Welcome home sweet angels, your healing has just begun |
Redoil:FOOOL! |
He that is of clear conscience fears no allegations. Jega's expression tells it all. His explanation brought immediate calm to every rational person. In 2011 PDP never accused Jega. Why now? |
Congratulations Nigeria! We did it! Now on the path to True Democracy!
|
Intelligent write up. Poor judgement as usual by igbo people. Till they can forgive and love their 'enemies' as Christ taught us, they will not see the light of Nigerian politics. |
GMB wins! Fault this result if you can! CONGRATULATIONS NIGERIA, WE DID IT!
|
Self deception tells you that the wind of change would not blow. You lie to yourself that the whole change mantra is a phantom. You remain transfixed, mouth wide opened as you watch GEJ openly accept defeat then get mailed back to kirikiri via Otuoeke. Everything will happen peacefully and quietly |
OsHYBRID:You need to learn basic english and spellings first! |
PDP! Keep dreaming! You are in for the shock of your life! |
Crazy! Bullshyte! We live in a world where you get ridiculed for doing good and eulogised for evil deeds! |
Once upon a time, Jonathan would never have thought his reelection could be challenged. Now he and all his arse leakers celebrate the predictions of a fickle fellow that he is the LIKELY winner. By 28th march, when the eyes of many others is opened, he will be the CERTAIN LOSER! |
owobokiri:The coward can never act like Rawlings. He had 6 years to show his mettle, to slay the sacred cows. But he worshipped them. Jonathan stands alone as the worst president Nigeria has ever had. |
No info about Buhari has changed over the years. Jonathan's worsening incompetence keeps making Buhari a lesser evil and increasingly acceptable option. |
Ladies, this is how the story ends. Buhari may have won the hearts of millions through his acclaimed morality but winning the delegates is a different ball game. Atiku's money bag will crush Buhari tomorow. Buhari doesnt posess the financial might required to out-muscle Atiku. When Atiku invades the election ground with jaw dropping monetary offers, all delegates, including sworn loyalists of Buhari will be swayed. We have seen this happen consistently in all recent primaries just concluded. Money politics is all we do in naija, no conscience. There is no way Buhari will pay more than atiku. There is not a chance that Nigerians will not sell their votes again. A deep irrepairable gully will tear APC apart tomorow. PDP wouldnt worry too much about the outcome of 2015. |

AJINATU:Your sarcasm wouldnt take away the fact that they are industrious from top to bottom. Its a well known fact that igbos have invaded every nook of naija and the world, even sambisa, doing legitimate business. Dont use the actions of these few to generalize! |
All seven of them my brothers from the southeast. They are hustlers and i love that. They love independence and want to create a life for themselves. They dont belong to the band wagon who blame God or government for their misfortunes. They take their destinies in their hands and HUSTLE! Unfortunately actions like this reveal the desperation of few who stupidly want to take the fast lane. |
I love the Nigerian Army. I love their professionalism. I will not use recent events for their overall assesment. They have lost so many men fighting in the most horrid terrain plagued with sabotage and corrpution! I blame one man for all their woes- the commander in chief. It takes supreme sacrifice to engage reckless terrorists with those rusted AK-47s. I duff my hat for you guys. I honestly dont know your motivation but its definitely not money, loot, fame, appreciation or immortalisation. May be its because you still believe in a dream we've all given up on- NIGERIA |
APC will lose terribly in 2015. Bunch of confused, frustrated, desperate, equally corrupt politicians. APC is a huge disappointment!!! |
This insurgency is more political than ideological. Have you wondered why the spate of attacks has increased since Jonathan's declaration of interest in the 2015 race? There is an uncanning and persistent attempt to discredit his leadership. Unfortunately the old foool is too dull and stupppid to sanitize the nation's security apparatus. His level of corruption is unprecedented. This guy Jonathan is not pretending, he is not scheming anything, he has no hidden solution or strategy with regards to our current problems in Nigeria. What he has done in the last four years is exactly what he will reproduce in a lifetime. The guy is downright clueless! How can you sensibly explain this recurrent embarassment of our gallant military personel. You want to blame that on the opposition? You want to blame the low morale of our military and their old fashioned ammunition on the opposition? You think the opposition is responsible for our porous borders? You honestly believe the huge sums veted on security gets stolen by the opposition? Granted: terrorism is often difficult to quash, but no country has suffered such monumental embarassment of its military in open battle by riff raffs like boko haram. When Yar adua was president, boko haram felt the full weight of a well motivated nigerian army. They were defeated in one decisive swing in the week of 17th january 2009. It will be 2 years of silence before they rear their head again. If the tempo was maintained, boko haram would have been history. I know interests differ and some peeps would dump their votes for him again, they must however realise that even their fathers at home could better Nigeria's cause more than this clueless drunkard |
