The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason, on has reacted to the viral video of his constituents using barehands to peel off a new road, drain project in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Edo State.

Akpatason, who is representing Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, was said to have been the sponsor of the project.

According to information gathered by our correspondent in Edo, the white elephant project was said to have gulped N200m.

However, in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Monday, Mr. Akpatason said he is very embarrassed over the short viral video which he described as 'disturbing'.

“It has been brought to my knowledge that the above road project awarded to Royal Jeff Nigeria Limited by Rural Development Department as part of the Zonal Intervention Projects in the 2020 Appropriation Act is allegedly being poorly executed to the dissatisfaction of my constituents.

Social commentator and activist Deji Adeyanju has called for prayer for his sister whom he said has been hospitalised for “many weeks”, Igbere TV reports.

Although, he did not reveal the nature of the illness, Mr Adeyanju said it has been a difficult time for him and his entire family.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu on Thursday knocked President Muhammadu Buhari for describing IPOB as a “dot in a circle”, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Kanu, in a tweet, assured the president that although IPOB seemed like a dot in a circle, would be free someday.

Chairman of Ovation Media Group Dele Momodu on Monday said Doyin Okupe, a former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has not paid the $20,000 bet he made concerning the 2015 general elections, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Momodu said on social media that Mr Okupe swore his former boss could not lose the election, and that six years later, Okupe had not paid for losing the bet after Jonathan lost to Muhammadu Buhari.

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has challenged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over the 12am to 4am curfew imposed by the Federal Government to curb the spread of COVID-19, Igbere TV reports.

The mother of two expressed her displeasure at the discomfort caused by the curfew in a video posted on Instagram on Saturday, arguing that the restriction on movement was negatively affecting businesses and families.

She tagged Governor Sanwo-Olu and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, asking them to address the issue urgently.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has denied commenting on the choice of Ghana as Twitter’s headquarters for its Africa operations, Igbere TV reports.

Several media outlets (not Qed.ng) quoted Mr Shehu as knocking Twitter for its decision made public by the tech company’s CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday.

But Shehu said in a tweet on Tuesday that he did not make any comment on the matter.

“I did not comment on the Twitter choice of Ghana as their Africa base. There are many who have the same names with me. It will be mistaken of anyone to attribute a quote to me or even the Presidency that my verified handles did not bear,” he said.
