Photographs have emerged online of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in their thousands trooping to the residence of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, following latest report of him being held hostage by soldiers.

IPOB members could be seen in tippers, buses and other cars from different parts of South-East heading to Kanu’s residence in Umuhia, the Abia state capital.

It was earlier reported that personnel of the Nigerian Army had held the IPOB leader hostage while shooting sporadically at his residence.

The earlier scheduled post UTME screening exercise for the University of port Harcourt has been postponed. This was obtained from recent publications on the schools website .No new date fixed.

This may not be unconnected to the recently announced NASU (non academic staff) strike and the ongoing ASUU strikes.

This to inform our prospective Students that owing to unforeseen circumstances, that the 2017/2018 Screening Exercise scheduled to commence on the 14th September, 2017, has been postponed. A new date will be communicated in due course.

Youths from Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State on Monday staged a protest against the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company for allegedly failing to carry out its corporate social responsibility, especially in the area of employment.

The youths, who marched to the NLNG facility in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, said they had not benefitted anything from the firm since 1996.

The leader of the protesters, who identified himself as Ezekiel Hart, said, “Few months ago, we got a hint that the NLNG was employing 81 graduate trainees. We thought it was a joke; so, we tried to make enquiries. Later, we got the fact that the 81 slots were already filled.

“We wrote to NLNG management to find out why the company would embark on such a project without carrying along the Bonny indigenes who are graduates. But the company did not listen to our concern.

“This morning, our youths came out in their numbers to protest the injustice. We are saying that as host community we deserve the right to have some slots.”

When contacted, the NLNG Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Tony Okonedo, told our correspondent in a telephone interview that stakeholders were already working towards resolving the matter.

The Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide gets a new Prelate (Baba Aladura). He's His Most Eminence Elder (Dr) David Bob Manuel (Moses Orimolade IX). He succeeded His Most Eminence Elder Lazarus Onyelonu (Moses Orimolade VIII) who died in May, 2017.

The 76-year-old hails from Abonnema, Akuku-Toru LGA of Rivers State and retired as a management staff of Shell Petroleum and Development Company in 2004.

He had served as a Deputy Baba Aladura and was General Secretary/ Senior Apostle for more than 10 years to the Order.

Bob-Manuel becomes the 9th Prelate of the church founded in 1925 by the legendary Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase.

Hurricane Irma hit northern Cuba during its long, destructive march toward Florida, where it's expected to hammer the state with whistling winds, heavy rain and surging waves.

Florida authorities went door-to-door warning residents of the massive hurricane, sending crowds jamming highways as they fled north.

The powerful Category 5 storm had maximum sustained winds of 160 mph when it made landfall on Cuba's Camaguey Archipelago, the National Hurricane Center said late Friday.
