Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday admitted that although the current administration is making progress, it is slow.

He attributed the slow nature of the government’s progress to what he called “damages of the past.”

According to a statement from his media office, Osinbajo spoke when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Mpape artisans’ village, located near the Maitama district of Abuja.

The Vice-President who was accompanied by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammad, cited the vandalism in the Niger Delta as one of the problems facing the country.

He said, “We are progressing but it is slow and the reason why it is slow is because there have been a lot of damages in the past.

“For instance, look at what is happening in the Niger Delta; that is where we get most of the money.

“But when the boys in the Niger Delta decided in blowing up the pipelines, production dropped from the two million barrels per day that we used to do to one million per day and we lost 60 per cent of what we used to earn from oil, that is partly responsible for the problem that you see today.’’

Osinbajo encouraged the artisans not to despair as government was focused on addressing key sectors that would improve the economy and create jobs for them and other Nigerians.

“We are trying to deal with the problem in the Niger Delta, address farming, industry and the economy so that this problem you are talking about will be fixed permanently,” he said.

Not yet fully convinced; video appears to have been edited - no voice and made up of several short joint clips that could have been put together to tell a different story.

It is also especially peculiar that an officer on such alleged illegal mission would clearly allow himself to be interviewed sitting in a vehicle in an open compound while conscious of his voice being recorded speaking into a cell.

This alone cannot stand as evidence of any significance without additional corroboration from e.g. eyes witnesses or confessions of the accused.

In fact it could even be argued that the whole thing could have been staged managed and sponsored by Wike & Co with the complicity of the accused in order to malign the APC - in Nigeria anything is possible.
That video was aired on Chanels TV.

But why are guys not encouraged to shun premarital sex?

And what d point of a girl keeping her self and ending up married to a guy who have been flirting around.

Virgins should get married to Virgins.

Otenestbestyaho:
Above all show LOVE,CARE and SURPPORT to those living with hiv and aids, many in benue are living with the disease and are being discriminated and humiliated by friends, family, place of work etc.

Scary: six(6) of my friends are HIV positive, another one tested positive just yesterday, dec 1. Some times I get scared of them, but they are my friends I can just help but to come close and cheer them up.

Am begging people especially young people to be careful and zip up. TB is not good.
Great insight , I think our biggest issue is Stigma and wrong information.

If the right message is passed i am certain HIV/AIDs stigma will be reduced and People Living with HIV (PLHIV) can have access to quality care and support. You can as well continue to support your friends and encourage them to take their drugs and keepto their clinic visits.

The antiretroviral combination drugs can successfully reduce the viral load of those affected by so doing they can live normal healthy Life and raise families who are not positive.

HealthHIV Facts In Nigeria & World AIDS Day by CallMeNJay(op): 9:52pm On Dec 01, 2016
Cc: Lalasticlala

Every December 1st is Internationally Celebrated as World AIDS DAY, And So December 1st 2016 Came and i didn't see any Post on Nairaland F.P to celebrate World AIDS Day and create awareness about HIV &AIDS

In my part of Town Rumuokoro- Port Harcourt as part of activities marking the 2016 WORLD AIDS DAY we Carried Out Free HIV COUNSELLING And TESTING For Most At Risk Populations (MARPs) at Rumuokoro roundabout and it’s Environs.
...
By so doing many of our Target groups saw reasons to know their HIV Status and all those tested Positive were Successfully Linked to Treatment in line with UNAIDs 90:90:90.

Quick Facts About HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
...
First Two Cases of HIV in Nigeria was recorded in Lagos 1985
31 Years After (2016) We have an estimate of 3.4 Million Nigerians Living with HIV AIDs.
National HIV Prevalence is 3.2 %
State with the Highest HIV Prevalence rate is RIVERS STATE 15.5 %
State with the lowest HIV Prevalence rate is EKITI STATE 0.2 %

HIV is no Longer a Death Sentence, Just like Every other Ailment (Diabetes, Cancer, Sickle Cell, Hypertenson etc ) , HIV/AIDs can be Effectively managed and People Living With HIV (PLHIV) can as well live a healthy, normal life and raise families who are not positive.
..
HIV can only be passed on from person to person if infected body fluids (such as blood, semen, vaginal or anal secretions and breast milk) get into your bloodstream

The five main ways HIV can be transfered are:

•unprotected sex
•From mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding
•Injecting drugs with a needle that has infected blood in it
•Infected blood donations or organ transplants
•Sharing of Sharp unsterilized objects.
...
You cannot get HIV from…

√Someone who doesn’t have HIV(You can only get HIV from someone who is already infected with HIV.)√

√Touching someone who has HIV(HIV can’t survive outside of the body so you won’t get HIV from touching someone, hugging them or shaking their hand.)

√Sweat, tears, urine or faeces of someone who has HIV(There is no HIV in an infected person’s sweat, tears, urine or faeces.)

√Mutual masturbation(Mutual masturbation, fingering and hand-jobs are all safe from HIV. However, if you use intimacy gadgets make sure you use a new condom on them when switching between partners.)

√Insects(You cannot get HIV from insects. When an insect (such as a mosquito) bites you it sucks your blood – it does not inject the blood of the last person it bit.)

√Air (HIV cannot survive in the air so coughing, sneezing or spitting cannot transmit HIV.)

√Water
(HIV can’t survive in water, so you won’t get HIV from swimming pools, baths, shower areas or from drinking water.)

√Toilet seats, tables, door handles, cutlery, sharing towels(HIV doesn’t survive on surfaces, so you can’t get HIV from any of these.)

√Used condoms (HIV can only survive for a really short amount of time outside of the body. Even if the condom had sperm from an HIV-positive person in it, the HIV would be dead.)

√Kissing (There is such a small amount of HIV in the saliva of an infected person that HIV can’t be passed on from kissing. There is only a risk if you both have large open sores or bleeding gums and blood is exchanged).

√MouthAction (As with kissing, the risk of HIV from MouthAction is so small unless you or your partner have large open sores on the genital area or bleeding gums/sores in your mouth. Always use a condom or dental dam to eliminate the risk.)
....

Go get yourself tested and live a Healthy Lifestyle.(HIV Testing & Drugs are Free)

I guarantee you, a first class graduate from A.B.U is a first class anywhere in the world. Quote me anywhere. I know what I went through to make 4.52 seven years ago.The best graduating student had 4.60. We both proceeded to Unilag for MSc (in different depts), he got 5.0 out of 5.0 and proceeded to UK for PhD (of course you know they won't allow him come back). I got 4.8/5.0 in Unilag, went to USA for another MSc and got 4.0/4.0. before returning here to work ( i don't want a PhD for now). In Unilag we both got that their scholarship (Trainee Assistant, TA). Mind you there were other first class and 2.1s too that went for the interview for the TA award.
My friend made 4.6 in Physics (A.B.U), went to Canada and made 3.89/4, got Cambridge scholarship for phD, afterwhich they retained him there.
Another friend from chemical engineering, got 4.2/5.0, went to MIT for masters (on scholarship), came top of his class n got a studentship for phD. He is now working with an oil n gas firm in the US as a manager.
The very guy that encouraged me not to give up also made first class, breaking a record of 14yrs of no first class in his course. He went to UI for MSc n got 4.8/5.0. He is in UCL now on PhD scholarship. These are real facts.
I respect any first class from A.B.U. When the Senate decides to single one person out of the many potential first class students, then that person must really be good.
I'm not Saying those with first class don't deserve it... Only meant the percentage / amount of first class produced by schools in the south are very little compared to the amount produced in other part of the Country...for reasons i don't know.

Not True my Broda ...Schools in the South Set High standards for their students.

While most schools in the North /West compromise on Standards.

An average 2.1 graduate from a Southern school can surpass a First class graduate from the north Academically.

Standards & Bottle necks differs in most Nigerian schools. Compare and contrast exam questions/seminars/researches/projects ...You'll notice the difference.
