First of all let me commence by commending his Excellency Governor Peter Obi for doing a nice job in Anambra state for the past 8years in office, but come to think of it, he is the Governor so i expect him to perform his duties and Obligations. Please while skimming down my write up, bear in mind that am not here to lay blames on any one/Group but to be realistic and tell each other the truth. Am here to rescind the misleading notion which some of us have in mind that APGA is an IGBO party. It will be of my interest to let you know that when DIM ODUMEGWU OJUKWU came back from Exile he joined NPN, which was seen as an HAUSA PARTY, thereby leaving ZIK's NPP behind. Why did he do so,you may ask? His intention was that Ziks Party(NPP) were lagging behind therefore he needed a party at the federal level so he can bring the power easily down to the Igbos. Unfortunately he failed before he gave it a second thought and founded APGA. It might also Interest me to let you know that ANAMBRA STATE is not the only Igbo state,so when you call APGA an Igbo party please bite your tongue with detest. To mention a few South Eastern State, we have IMO STATE,ABIA STATE,EBONYI STATE and the DELTA IGBOs. Of all this mentioned Igbo states APGA does not have stake in them, even in Anambra which they boast of having a stake in, they couldnt provide a single senator but could only boast of one house of representative member, Then why call APGA an IGBO party? why call APGA an IGBO PARTY when None of our Notable IGBO leaders, the likes of ALEX EKWUEME, ORJI OZUR KALU,KEN NNAMANI,IKE IKWEREMMADU, to name a few , are not member of the so called IGBO PARTY. Governor Peter obi and APGA party claims to be on the interest of the Igbos but we all know that he and BIANCA, the Wife of the Late OJUKWU are one of president GOODLUCK JONATHAN's loyalists,a PDP government. ( Am not against that, but am asking if this APGA been an IGBO party saga of our interest or of Peter obi's personal interest?). To be candid, i want to make it crystal clear that i do not abhor APGA party, but am against how Peter Obi wants to run it and how they use it to castigate and propagandize other parties. After all they are not better Igbos than IFEANYI UBAH and SENATOR CHRIS NGIGE who is also known as IGBO LEADER. The last time i also checked, Prof CHARLES SOLUDO, HON UCHE EKWUNIFE, Prof DORA AKUNYILI to mention a few are all members of APGA and powerful blown Ndi igbos, but have you taken your time to ask your self why they are not among PETER OBI's campaign train( Am also surprise ooo)? And On what ground was the Almighty SOLUDO disqualified( hmmm), am still asking? From the look of things you dont need a socerer to proclaim to you that Peter obi is trying to impose OBIANO on us (ANAMBARIANS) thereby bringing back GODFATHERISM/ INDIRECT RULE which SENATOR CHRIS NGIGE combatted long ago. He should allow the man to run his own things in his own way. I am not Against OBIANO, but am against the way PETER OBI is shifting the whole ball game ( I dont want to conclude matters on the issue why he needs OBIANO there, but time would tell). Governor PETER OBI ruled for a clear 8 years, so i see no reason why he is still interested in producing a replacement, this is still an imbroglio which am trying to fathom out. Have you ever i come across Obiano's bill boards and posters of recent? if yes, bear me witness that he is always busy showing us pictures of what peter obi did, and i keep asking is he Peter obi or is peter coming back for an INDIRECT THIRD TENURE? NOW LET ME LECTURE WE YOUTHS AND NIGERIANS ON THE ISSUE OF PARTY: A party is like a Bus, both the Good, the bad and the ugly are allowed to come in, So when they castigate anyone based on party render that topic irrelevant. Bear it in mind that you are voting a personality not a party. A party cannot produce a criminal and expect you to vote for them based on sentiments thats its an IGBO party,HAUSA PARTY or YORUBA party. If we still believe in ONE NIGERIA then why is the issue of party tribe a problem to us.( Or are we igbos ready or secession?). We are going down on the NOVEMBER 16 to decide our faiths as youths, to decide our future, you know who is the best for you, you know who can change your life for good. The worst thing you can do to yourself as a youth is to sell your vote for money, if u do so bear it mind that you indirectly sold your future and birth right. When they offer you money to vote for them, collect it because its your money which they indirectly stole from you, but don't forget to vote where your heart lies. We need a change and it must start from us, America can never offer us the change we need, neither Britain would do so, but we are the change we need. It starts from Me, you and you. We are marching on to the promise land so our votes must count, get ready to protect your votes. We are hearding to the pooling boots so we must make effective use of our phones, our andriods, BB's, Ipads, And Cameras so as to report any issue of falsification. Our votes must count in jesus name!! Long live ANAMBRA |

More units of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, including the University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University chapters, have voted for the suspension of the strike by the union during chapter congresses held nationwide. The union met with a Federal Government team led by President Goodluck Jonathan last Tuesday in Abuja. Government has promised to inject N220bn yearly into the public universities for the next five years. The ASUU leadership, after briefing the zonal coordinators on the offer, had directed the local branches to organise congress meetings between Friday last week and Tuesday (today). This is to enable all the lecturers to make input into the action the union would take after its NEC meeting on Thursday. As at press time on Monday, 20 of the 28 chapters that had concluded their meetings supported the suspension of the strike, while the remaining eight preferred that the varsity teachers pressed on with the strike. The teachers in the University of Abuja, for instance, supported the suspension of the strike but listed conditions that must be met by the Federal Government. A source at the meeting on Monday said the congress demanded that the withheld three months salaries of the lecturers must be paid. “Members also demanded for commitment on funding. We also want assurance from government that no lecturer will be victimised on the account of participating in the strike. We also asked that the template for sharing the earned allowance should be prepared within the next two weeks,” the source added. The conditions were the same for Nasarawa State University, which voted for continuation of the strike. Chairman of ASUU in the school, Dr. Theophilus Lagi, told our correspondent after the congress that as far as his members were concerned the strike should continue. He said, “There are certain grey areas that must be cleared. The ‘no work no pay’ policy must be sorted out. Government must pay lecturers the arrears. “We also need evidence that the N200bn that government promised to release this year is in the central bank. We are not going to suspend the strike until the money is there and available for sourcing. That is the position of the congress. “Nobody trusts government. They have been making promises since 2009 and nothing has been implemented except the N30bn earned allowances. “Secondly, the 2009 agreement is due for review; nothing has been said about that. Lecturers have been denied salary for three months, those monies must be paid.” Among the universities that supported that the strike be called off are Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Federal University of Technology, Minna; University of Lagos; University of Ibadan; University of Calabar; University of Port-Harcourt; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; and Ekiti State University. The list also include the Federal University of Technology, Owerri; Delta State University; Bayero University Kano; Imo State University; Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; and Olabisi Onabanjo University, among others. On the other hand, majority of lecturers at the University of Benin; and University of Jos wanted the strike to continue. However, in the Bauchi zone of the union, five universities voted for continuation of the state strike, while the remaining three threw their weight against the continuation of the strike.
