In view with my last post concerning the suit against the NIS, immediate compensation will be given to the stampede victims, and also #1000 will be ask to be paid back to the applicants and thereafter the FG will be boast enough to release the list. guy if your name no show for the list, still trust God and dont give up, try again later. list cannot just be released without legal backing since everyone knew the bla bla bla that happened during the whole process. speculation though |

The suit filed by some Nigerians against the federal government over the death of job seekers during the March 15 Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, recruitment exercise will commence on Monday. The case is to be tried by Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court, Abuja, under Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/694/2014. The suit was filed by Patience Omezie, Kasim Suleiman, Okojie Arebamen, and Godwin Morka while the defendants include the federal government and the Interior Minister. The plaintiffs’ counsel include Funke Adekoya, J.S. Okutepa, Ayo Obe, Ikeazor Akaraiwe, and Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri. At least 16 Nigerians died across Nigeria when hundreds of thousands of applicants stormed various recruitment centres to fill the 4000 vacant positions in the NIS. A day after the tragedy, the Minister for Interior, Abba Moro, claimed that the applicant’s impatience and failure to follow instructions were the cause of the tragedy. Mr. Moro later appeared before a Senate Committee on Interior during a public hearing where he accepted responsibility for the deaths. He has, however, remained in office despite calls by some Nigerians that he resigns or be removed. President Goodluck Jonathan has since offered automatic employment to families of the victims and ordered the return of the N1000 registration fee collected from each applicant. The president also promised that a fresh recruitment exercise would be carried out. 2 Likes |

Edo NIS victims’ families decry non-implementation of compensation OCTOBER 14, 2014 BY ALEXANDER OKERE, BENIN 2 Comments Seven months after the ill-fated Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise which led to the death of no fewer than 18 applicants and left many injured nationwide, victims of the stampede in Benin have decried the non-implementation of the compensation promised by the federal government. It would be recalled than one person died while over 20 others were injured in the stampede at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue of the exercise in Edo with over 20,000 applicants. But President Jonathan had on March 19 directed that three employment slots be reserved for the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede that occurred during the recruitment exercise conducted by the NIS. He said also directed that all those who sustained injuries and were hospitalised be given automatic employment in the service. However, the victims stated, during a peaceful protest in Benin, that they were yet to get any of the promises made by the federal government. The victims and their families had placards with inscriptions which read, “We are traumatised immigration victims still without jobs,” “Please, allow the souls of the departed NIS victims to rest in peace” and “Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, we are still waiting for your promise,” appealing to the federal government to fulfil his promise. One of the victims, Austin Amu, who lost his wife during the exercise, told PUNCH Metro that he and his three children, aged eight, five and three, had been languishing in pain since the death of his 27-year-old wife. Amu, who also participated in the exercise, narrated how he discovered that his wife had died, stated that he had paid several visits to the NIS office, none of which yielded any good result. Amu said, “Getting to different hospitals, they told me that they had discharged those who were injured. “They showed me a list but my wife’s name was not there. “When I got to the specialist hospital, they told me that the only corpse brought by the NIS had no name. “When I insisted on seeing the corpse, I realised that it was the remains of my wife. “I have visited the office so many times but they keep telling me to be patient because there has been no response right from Abuja. “That was why I decided to cry out to let the public know my feeling because carrying these children along is not an easy task for me. Another victim, Timothy Omoagbon, told our correspondent that life had been difficult for his family since the incident. Omoagbon said, “I saw my wife lying down on the ground In fact, my wife collapsed in the stadium. “It took the efforts of immigration officials to revive her, pouring water on her before she stood up. “But later she started coughing out blood and couldn’t breath very well. “We went to immigration but they told us that they are waiting for directive from Abuja and would let us know when get it. “But we have not had anything till now. We are appealing to President Goodluck Jonathan to fulfil his promise.” |

Nearly seven months after the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment stampede which killed 20 applicants and injured hundred others, the Federal Government is yet to fulfill its promise of automatic jobs to the families of the deceased. The recruitment exercise held on March 15, across the various centres in the country was marred by poor crowd control and organization. The Federal Government promised to offer automatic jobs to family members of the deceased while all applicants injured were to get a slot each. On March 25, the Federal Government in a statement through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, set-up a Presidential Committee to undertake a fresh recruitment exercise within 12 weeks. The committee is to assist the Civil Defence, Fire Service, Immigration and Prisons Board to conduct a fresh exercise in place of the aborted recruitment. The committee’s terms of reference among others, was to ensure that three family members of each deceased applicant from the aborted exercise, at least one of whom should be a female, were given immediate and automatic employment into the NIS and ensuring that all those injured were given immediate and automatic employment. One of the victims of the aborted recruitment exercise, Peace Uruaka told Daily Trust said she is yet to receive the promised job. Uruaka, who received treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja after the tragedy and on crutches until July is still unable to properly walk. Asked if she has ever been contacted by the authorities, she said: “I have not been contacted. I keep on going to the Comptroller General of Immigration office to know how far but until now, they said nothing yet.” Also, one Caleb Uloko who sustained injuries during the recruitment exercise and was revived the following day, said he was only contacted once to provide some details adding that he had not heard from anyone since then. The Physics graduate lamented that the directive by the President to employ them immediately was clear, wondering what was delaying the process. Another victim, Mercy Owonipa who was injured on her left hand during the recruitment exercise in Abuja said she has not been contacted for a job by anyone. All efforts to reach the Comptroller General of Immigration, David Parradang, who is a member of the Presidential Committee on the recruitment exercise to react to the situation proved abortive as he did not pick calls nor respond to the text message put through to him by our reporter. However, Minister of Interior, Abba Moro said the ministry was still waiting for the committee to conclude its job before enforcing the president’s directives. The minister responded while fielding ques-tions from reporters at the Nigeria Immigration Service 50th Anniversary celebration at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. “We are patiently waiting for the committee to diligently do its job, give us the appropriate list and then, we will comply with Mr President’s directive,” Moro said. Moro however, suggested that the delay with the process may not be unconnected with the cumbersome nature of arriving at the final list. The minister said: “Don’t forget that experience has shown that immediately Mr. President made that pronouncement, a lot of persons started claiming that they were victims of the exercise and so, we are inundated with list of persons who have claimed that they were wounded or their loved ones died in the process.” is this justice delayed or justice denied? |

There will never be a recruitment into the ministry of interior this year, mark my work. If at all there will shortlist names, it will be from the previous applicant list who paid hard earned £1000.00. We all know that training now is 3 month, so if the list is not out between now till second week of october, then forget it this year. We thank God for PGEJ endorsement, he adopt the endorsement. I think that is what he is waiting for to start the massive employment in paramillitary, MDAs. |

so, them still dey look for fund? what happen to our hard earned #1000.00 they accumulated from the hungry and angry youth? there is God oooooooooooooooooooooooo. 1 Like |

recruitment.cdfipb.gov.ng is temporaly not available since 1pm last time i checked to this time. Anxiety coming up.......... |

If about 60 percent of the NIS officials posses fake certificates and also falsification of their age, goin by the total number of personnel in the NIS which is about 23000, then it thus means that roughly 14000 officers will loose their job. LORD, please have mercy on the unemployed so that this jobquakes about to shake NIS will not affect the proposed forthcoming recruitment. God bless Nigeria. 6 Likes |
