Am so proud of this young and energetic youths in this forum. I intend installing a fish feed unit in my farm that will be able to formulate locally made pelleting feed. I need your most noble advice on the way forward. Their cost and also where I can get it. Am in Abuja. Pelletizer Mixer Grider. Call me on 07067960823 |
Mr noblefarm, your earth pond and my earthpond are not in same area, or even not the same size, how do expect the price to be the same. There are many factors that deters pond construction. Although, I will still take your advise on the pricing when constructing the next one. Thanks |
Mr Paul, advertising here is not wrong, but it will make lots of sense if u open your own page where there wouldn't be criticism that's not Worthwhile. Those earthponds where. Stocked with juvenile, we have concrete ponds that we use to raise the fingerlings to juvenile stage. Thanks though. |
You can start with 1000 fingerlings but as soon as they reach 2 month, u can reduce to 8000. But will comfortably accommodate 750 till maturity. |
Like I said, its for a single pond |
Digging and bagging for each pond cos 160,000 naira

Abuja August Alert. Godwin |
The devil initiated this question. |
A former National
Chairman of the
Peoples Democratic
Party, Alhaji Bamanga
Tukur, said on
Thursday that if he was
not forced out of office,
his party would have won the 2015 general elections.
Tukur, who spoke with journalists at his residence in Abuja
as one of the activities to mark his 80th birthday, said the
party was winning elections when he was in office.
The former PDP chairman was forced to resign from office
when he sanctioned some governors of the party.
Tukur, who was a former governor of the defunct Gongola
State, identified lack of internal democracy as the bane of
the former ruling party.
The defeat suffered by the PDP was unprecedented as the
then opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, won
the power at the centre and many states where the PDP had
hitherto remained unbeaten.
Tukur however said the situation would have been different
if he had not been booted out of office unceremoniously.
He said, “Well, when I was there I won elections and in the
same vein, if I was there I also expect to win the election.
“But first and foremost, this is a democracy and in every
democratic system, you have the opposition and the party in
government.
“So, it is time (for the opposition) because it is a democracy
and it is the people who decide who they want to vote for
and that is what the people have done.
“Sure the PDP will rediscover itself. I am sure about that; it is
their own party and they can find out what have gone wrong.
“If for 16 years people allowed you to rule them and in the
17th year they say no, you have to find out why they said
no.”
He said he faced problems in the party because some of
those he described as strong members of the party were
afraid of election and would rather prefer selection.
He said such powerful men were ready to leave the party,
but he decided to leave for them.
Tukur added, “Well, I thought we were in a system of
democracy and my views were such that what I believed in
were what I will preach.
“I wanted election and people said they wanted selection. If
the majority or the strong people in the PDP did not believe
in it then the choice or the next thing for me to do was to
leave.
“It is either I leave or they leave but I did not want them to
leave, so, I decided to leave. At that time, people said I was
preaching internal democracy instead of imposition. So, it
was difficult for me to sit down and be part of them.”
Despite the way he was treated in his party, Tukur said he
would not defect to the APC, saying that it would be difficult
for him to change his principle at 80.
He said, “At 80, what do you want somebody to do? You
want to change somebody’s character at 80? Is it possible?
“At 80, you remain because you cannot bend. You are
unbendable anymore and if you do it by force, you will
break.” http://www.punchng.com/news/pdp-would-have-won-if-i-wasnt-removed-says-tukur/ |
If nothing is done to the families of those who died and those injured and admiTted, nemesis will continue to eat up with NIS. And mostly the head will. Suffer it. The blood of the unemployed who died as a result of the stampede will not rest until justice is done to the berieved. |
Pegging ongoing now. I will like the room to share ideas so as to live on.

Thanks for the observation about the new thread. This is it https://www.nairaland.com/2521780/earthen-pond-construction-fish-pond#36896167 |
Forget about the problems and let's face the prospects for now. Thanks though. |
My country men, the present government are preaching diversification of our economy from oil to agriculture, so I decided to kick start mine before the FG starts it in full. I am about to construct an earthen pond that will contain at most 5000 catfish from fingerling stage to adult stage. What will be the most appropriate size of the pond in feets will be best I am suggesting 40ftx30ftx4ft to be adequate. Please, nairalanders, help me out in this project. I am only good in concrete pond construction. Thanks in anticipation. Caly-b Fish Consult Calybreserve@gmail.com 070679600823 Abuja. Nigeria.

So far so good, I have come to the conclusion of the concrete pond construction. What is left now is the stocking. Thank you all for your contributions. Let meet on the new thread I am about to create for earthen pond construction. |
I will soon open another thread earthen pond construction. Remain posted. |
The image of the pond is coming out gradually.

MrCork:Thank God you are strong enough to have a range rover spot. I prefer to be lazy doing a legit work rather than being smart doing the wrong thing. Mrcoy I guess u are kidding though. |
Throw back pics in a farm I consulted. One of the biggest fish farm in Nigeria . |
Mrcoy and tucky, forgive each other and move on. Life is too short for all this. Bless your self, and it will lead to the development of this great nation. |
The farm is located at @ Gwagwalada Abuja.
|
I am so happy for all the observations, I will take notes to all the comments to avoid mistakes that will cost me. Thanks
|
Afolabi78:Topolin don't last, don't worry about the cost. The money is there, no need to worry. |
IDnoble1:Its more easy to handle fish in concrete ponds than in earthen pond, in terms of harvesting, sorting etc. It does not waste much in maintenance unlike earthen pond. |
Thanks be to God, I have gotten a broodstock that I will use to hatch my fish. Those waiting to eat fish, don't worry, u will surely eat my fish either directly or indirectly, or by invitation. Hope those who will be invited will turn up? I wish to have you. Let's eat, drink and drink. Nigeria, we are one. Add me on whatsapp, 07067960823. |
cruzclinton1:Earthen pond is better than concrete ponds base on some factors. Earth pond has supplimentary feeds like adequate zooplanktons which will reduce the amount of feed given to them. Adequate planktons are also available which provide deplited oxygen for respiration. But concrete ponds also have their advantages over earthen ponds. |
Apitch:My able Apitch, I said I will not allow the fish to reach 2kg before selling. Am only targeting 1kg per fish. Withing 3-4 months, I will achieve it with proper management. Thanks. |
