What is all this talk about Nigerian graduates being half-baked. So those who do the jobs are they "fully baked". This new phrase we have discovered is no more than a smoke screen to cover our inability to provide jobs for our teeming graduate population.

Most of these jobs do not require rocket science intelligence. Some people are street smart but may not be too good on the book. So why not put them where they fit in. Why not fix them in the marketing department of our banks, send them on the streets to get customers.Do you need special knowledge for that too. Most jobs require minimum book knowledge and greater creativity. And l think creativity is what Nigerians have in abundance

Now let put this into perspective. Back in the 60s and 70s when there were few graduates and more than enough jobs to go round, are we saying there where no half baked graduates, did they not perform well in their jobs.

The point really is that the term "half baked" has somehow become an excuse for explaining away our inability to provide jobs for our graduates.
NOTE: Please, this is not a defense for those who refuse to work had in school.

that is just the truth. apart from very small percentage of jobs done in nigeria say 1%. most jobs, be it oil,telecoms,bank etc can be done by a smart secondary student if He is taught.

so let our leaders provide jobs for the youth. people kip run their mouth about starting something small-business. but they should remember that nigerian environment is very precarious. if small and medium manufacturing companys with good capital base can close up in nigeria. then it would be extremely difficult for a guy that can hardly get money to print his CV to go into meaningful business venture, Remember the high lending rates and Power! I think banks would hardly give startups funds,

soo if govt. cant give jobs let them give soft loan with very small interest rate that you can pay over a long period. The govt is not just doing enough.

Nigeria is a funny place. how would you want to give sum1 a job and put material that you are supposed to provide for ur own efficiency as added advantage for prospecting employees that have them.

@ folarin wat area of telecoms are u into, because with ur 8yrs experience u should get sometin, mayb the pay is the matter.

well I work for one of the Telco companies in naija. when i enter then I neva knew any1. I just submitted my CV online. for me there are jobs in the Telecomms companies in naija but u need a fair number of years of experience to be well paid. my company is recruiting expatriates and locals in large quantity

My advice for you is to work 4 2 more yrs, so that u can gather enough experience. most especially in new technology that are not yet obtainable in naija. with four years of experience i think you should get a very nice job with vvvvv very 9ice pay with any Telco.

nothing is automatic, even with ur experience. but if u are eager to relocate to naija u can send ur cv to the naija companies with ur friend/sis/brother' naija fone number and address. then as soon as they get any info from any telecoms company d person would contact u. u can then contact the company for a reschedule. In this way u wont be ideal at any point in time.

I would strongly advise you to gather a enough experience, because for recruiters 2 yrs experience in a field is still more like a beginner- because at dat stage u know the jargons and basic of the field but u are not yet strong at it. except for very few employee.

The employment letter never mentioned any thing about training and fidelity bond. The Organisation started bonding staff when they discovered they were loosing competent staffs.

Pls, what ur advice on this case; I ve worked for 3yrs with a company in Lagos, I was told to sign a bond for 5 yrs for a one week technical training in lagos on the day of the Training. I tried rejecting the bond but I was made to understand that it was compulsory. The alternative was to Resign and based on the present economic condition that is not the best tin to do. I cant stay with this company for another five years because their staff welfare package isnt very good. I have been applying to other jobs all the same. I intend to leave the Job without resigning If I find an alternative.

the penality for breakage of the bond is 5million Naira and a 3months notice must be given to the company before you leave.
so what do u think is the best legal way to leave?

I value continuity, but not wen handled by sum1 that doesnt know is onions. Vogts has failled & doesnt seem to have the acapability to take nigerian football to the next level. all he asked for waz granted-friendly matchs, pre Nation' cup camp in spain, free hand to select his player etc. sum nigerian coaches never got half of wat he was given & we still achieved our gentleman's bronze medal.

all i want now is 4 NFA to sack him & get sum1 that can take our football to the next level.

we need a coach that can source for extremely good players within & outside the shores of niaja

the questions are a bit tight. It's the standard GRE mathematical questions-word problems & graphs.the english question are just short comprehension passages. the test is 50 questions- maths & english- for 60mins. u are allowed to use calculator, but for those kind of questions it would waste your time. Anyway just prepare and b positive. To pass the test stage u must have a test score of 60 & above.goodluck

calm down, to get to the final stage aint bean. I'm sure u would be called. but sumtimes the recruitment process in globacom takes time.so be prayerful & very optimistic.

the 1st test is simple analogy, quantitative reasoning & technical obj (this section would test ur knowledge on fundamental physics; gears(rotation of gears), momentum,basic electrical circuit,presure,moment & lots more. wen i rememba more i would get across to u guys). U guys nid to b at ur very best. the time is soo short.

there is no written test to get a glo job. All u need to do is to master your telecom/electrical  fundamentals & go through d  CV u submitted to them.remember dates and technical details of all d tins u  claimed to ve done-for technical guys. If u can master these areas and u are very bold, u should have no problem. be calm and b very positive. the company actually nids guys,but very smart 1s .They prefer high IQ with no certification to low IQ with many certifications.
(d selection process 4 globacom is series of interviews, d very 1st intaview which is the technical interview is the most important, while the rest would test your level of composure/boldnes and other managerial skills-)

Hi Oyin, well those guys(Mobil) are very thorough. They would go through all  your credentials .but if u are still serving and would be ending your service by september u would b allowed to write the test. just try since u ve bin invited. It's better to try . take kia & ve a luvly day. lastly, the test is not an SHL produced test, but it's a standard Graduate recruitment test. Gudluck

I actually dont know wat u applied for, but from wat i know about mobil test. It would be English ( short passages with about 3-4 questions.each question would be a statement and u would be asked to indicate if the statement is True,False or Cannot say. 30secs for each question), Mathematics (graphs & tables.1min for each question) , Reasoning ( in this section u would be given a series of shapes and u would be asked to predict the next shape.less than 30secs for each question) & skill test ( this depends on our area of study, u are always given enough time in this section). Try your best , and be as fast as possible.

If u still want to try,pls go to d state scholarship board nearest to you,u would then purchase a
bank draft at the neartest 1stbank not intercontinental bank.this will b used to collect d form

Ademan, i grit. all i ve to say is that if u really want gold! or miss rite like u said, just b calm & patient because most times they neva appear to be total refined like u want them from inception. so be more relax and make more female friends (not lovas) out of the many, u would find just that special 1 dat has most inate qualities u require. Most important commit it to GOD, because He is the only1 who gives perfect gifts.

well, i dnt know ur discipline.but u can try to apply for the[b] PTDF postgraduate scholarship [/b] that is on. TO apply, go to the nearest state scholarship board to collect the form. The form cost 2000 naira + bank charges (first bank) . B fast 'cos the forms are limited.

well, all u need to know about the next stage (interview) is well stated in the invitation letter. As for the other guy, the SRD is going to b on 4 a while, most likely till the end of november. so my dear prepare for it well.
