Nairalanders please I need your candid advise. Presently I am a Batch B corp member that will be passing out in October. Have been able to save up to N300,000 during this service period. I never touched my allawee, I didn't buy any clothes or even clubbed, I fed and lived on money I get from private lessons and the 5k Stipend my PPA give me, so that made me to save allawee and also the little I get from private lessons.

Right now I will be going into labor market and my heart is already beating fast.

The money isn't enough to even rent a shop and I don't know what to invest in, I don't want to go into network marketing cos even my 140k in Swiss Golden didn't come back to me and am so pained.

Please I need investment advise

Nice saving culture you have there, sounds unbelievable I swear.

Try investment in treasury bills and in money market instruments.
At UT Financial Services, we invest in these instruments,
the risks are low but the returns are good, plus your money will be safe,
pending when you finish your NYSC and eventually decide to do something with the money.

Basically you deposit the money and earn very impressive interest on it.

the current emphasis on a professor and legislator based economy should be revisted. Foreign countries don't pay lecturers the highest wages, but do so to those in the industries, policy makers, Economists, Doctors, Engineers. Legislators are mostly paid as part-time workers. With the professor based economy several able bodied graduates have remained in the universities running academic masters, PGDs and PHDs, with a dream of becoming the most respected and affluent in the society. This deters economic progress.

This is so on point, imagine someone asking me to go and do PHd that when i am through I will get a job as a lecturer or with world bank. I just laughed.

So I should go and join these guys, who all they know is to copy many books, bind it together, and publish on one foreign website to get creds among themselves. Contributing nothing but rehashed ancient theories.

Very good. So how does these been called a Ponzi Scheme seems to rhyme with a Peer to Peer Fund Donation platform.
Is that what google called a PONZI Scheme? Illiteracy has really eaten deep into most Nigerians.

If you still don't Understand the true definition of a True PONZI SCHEME, try re-read the information the Op just got from Google as the true definition of a Ponzi Scheme.

Oga follow the link to get the full insight into what a ponzi and its brother, pyramid scheme is and its history.

Dont twist my post to mean something else.

Uncle peer-2-peer or donation platform are mordern clichés to an already existing scheme. In a true peer to peer platform, you donate and get back what you put. It's a ponzi scheme because interest from nowhere and no business or sales is involved. MMM, GHWW and Givers forum are ponzi schemes, even the owners don't deny it.

One love

They will always come out to defend their scam. They will accuse you of ignorance and having no ambition. whereas they are simply projecting their self diagnosis to you.

After listening to twisted lectures from their sponsors, lifted from motivational books (Robert Kiyosaki is the most abused name used by these guys), they will suddenly feel that they know more than everybody.

I attended one lecture on cryptocurrency by these guys, come and see how all the terms where twisted to mean something else.

those yeyebrities don't know why they there in the first place

Ok

The attention that Fayose and FFK and many of us on have been drawing, has it solved it.

So after Rugged, MI or Omotola comes and write open letter or make noise on instagram about fulani and their boko brothers terror, the attacks will stop? You want to drag them into tribal and religious problems, which is not their business! Their business is to provide us distraction from the news.

Not until we begin to hold those responsible for the positions they hold, like your Army General, the inspector of police, the civil defence hierarchy, your governors and local chairpersons responsible for the security they make noise about providing during election and collect huge contract for, we are just wasting time.

Investment / Defining A Ponzi Scheme by Candybob(m): 11:30am On Jul 19, 2017
Okay somebody asked me what a Ponzi scheme is.
And I did some googling...
very easy ooh,
but I dont why many people cant simply do it angry

Wikipedia has a very lovely straight forward answer that I think we Nairalanders need to keep in mind in light of all this sales people competing with me and asking you to deposit money in their schemes. And it goes thus

''A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator generates returns for older investors through revenue paid by new investors, rather than from legitimate business activities''... wikipedia

So before you release your money, take time to do due diligence... How will you earn on this scheme, if it is by bringing people in and then collecting from the people you brought in, then it means the people who brought you in will earn the same way, and the same applies to those who brought them in.

Run away from pyramid schemes... you are going to end up scamming your friends for some criminals hiding behind the system.

Basic problem with legalized abortion in Nigeria.... not enough obstetricians, non existent emergency care, not enough medical staff as a whole , funding ( even if govt was symphatetic , why fund abortions when there are bigger health issues like HIV, malaria, malnutrition ,etc)...and lack of adequate sex education among many other things.

I would like to see more sex education and better access to contraception. And better opportunities for women too.

Why will the govt fund abortion?
It should be your choice and hence your responsibility.
It is an issue of ethical contention and the government should live it open. It should neither be penalized nor encouraged.
Just as should be the case with religious pilgrimage, although our government officials are so daft they go around funding pilgrimage.

All the other issues you listed are non issues, but just excuses.

We need to stop this culture of complaining about a potential solution before we even tried it.
Do something, when the negatives comes, we would then find new solutions as well.

Maybe we should legalize abortion......and make it free of charge, and maybe we should educate people more on why having a baby without being ready for it is such a bad idea.

The problem with the man was that he wanted to enjoy free sin without taking responsibility for the consequences. As for the woman....go school you refuse, work hard you refuse.na baby mama you wan be, see how you have reaped.

Sex is not a recreational activity. It comes with responsibilities and duties

P.S: Normally, I am against abortion , but sometimes, in cases like this, bringing in a baby into a toxic situation, father no want am, mother just sees him or her as a money making thing....sigh

Life is not fair.

Its not maybe. We should legalize abortion angry

Investment / Types Of Investment Instruments by Candybob(m): 4:06pm On Jul 06, 2017
Investors can choose from a wide range of assets for their investment portfolios. The two basic types of investment instruments are fixed-income and equity. Fixed-income assets provide relative safety of capital and regular interest payments, while equity provides the potential for long-term capital appreciation. The asset mix depends on short-term cash flow needs, long-term financial objectives and tolerance for market risk.

A financial investment whose price is based directly on its market value are considered as primary instruments, examples include stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, bills and anything else that has its own value. By contrast, the price of derivative instruments, such as options, swaps and futures, is based on the value of their underlying assets.

Cash Instruments
Cash instruments include savings and checking accounts, certificates of deposit and money market accounts. They provide financial flexibility because you can use them for emergencies, living expenses and buying other assets at attractive prices. They include securities that easily transferable, deposits and loans agreed upon by borrowers and Lenders. They are liquid investments whose values are directly influenced and determined by the market. They are considered safe and earn modest returns.

Derivative Instruments
The value and characteristics of derivative instruments are based on the vehicle’s underlying components, such as assets, interest rates or indices. These can be over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives or exchange-traded derivatives.

Bonds
Companies and governments issue bonds to raise capital for operational and strategic needs. Bond investors receive regular interest payments and get the principal back on maturity. Bond prices rise when interest rates fall and fall when rates rise. Government bonds are safer than corporate bonds. U.S. Treasuries are risk-free because the U.S. government backs them. Credit rating agencies assign risk ratings to bonds based on several factors, including a bond issuer's financial strength and ability to fulfill its debt obligations. Low-rated bonds have to pay higher interest rates to compensate investors for taking on the higher risk.

Equity
Companies issue stock to raise capital for various needs. Stocks trade on regulated exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange, or on over-the-counter markets. Investment portfolios benefit from rising stock prices but suffer during periods of market volatility. This is why diversification across different industries is so important. Some companies pay dividends, which are cash distributions to shareholders from after-tax profits. The main risk of equity investments is that deteriorating business conditions lead to falling profits and stock prices.

Mutual Funds
Mutual funds offer diversification at reasonable costs because the fund companies are able to spread the fees and expenses over a large asset base. Stock funds invest in stocks, bond funds invest in bonds and balanced funds invest in a mix of stocks and bonds. There is further specialization within these categories. For example, technology stock funds invest only in technology stocks, while international funds invest in certain regions of the world.
The disadvantage is that you have no control over investment decisions but must pay fees and other expenses regardless of performance. Exchange-traded funds are similar conceptually to mutual funds, except that they trade like stocks on exchanges and track market indexes and sub-indexes. ETFs offer convenience and sector diversification at lower costs than regular mutual funds.

Commodities
You can invest in gold, silver and other commodities. Some use gold and other precious metal assets to hedge against inflation and as a storage of value during periods of economic uncertainty. Commodity prices are volatile, and there is the risk of significant capital loss in a short period. Individual investors can gain exposure to this sector cost-effectively through commodity mutual funds and exchange-traded funds.

Other
Other investment instruments include real estate and small businesses. Residential and commercial real estate investments can offer investors attractive rates of return, especially during periods of economic expansion. Small businesses, such as franchise outlets or retail stores, could be a worthwhile investment of both time and money. You can also invest in derivatives, such as options and futures, to speculate or to hedge positions in stocks and other assets.
