mathy001: I didn't see that you modified your post later on. Just saw it.
Regarding your question, I believe that Nigeria is a dead nation. We can only try to salvage it but it may be very hard to do that with zombified Northerners roaming around. The only solution may be to secede or make a bold move such as what you guys did yesterday. However, yesterday's move was not bold enough. We need to do something to make a more lasting impression that will force the international community to look into the plight of the Igbos and the SS.
My only bone of contention is that if the minorities in the SS and Igbos must secede, there should be a round-table discussion of terms. These things have to be discussed before the struggle even starts. If Igbos had officially invited minority leaders to discuss terms of coalition, no one would have the impetus to claim "We the SS" or say that Igbos are forcing SSners into Biafra. Sadly, such is the reality because many youths go around peddling projected maps where other people's territories are arbitrarily added.
There needs to be a serious conclave on the issues that plague our region so that SS and SE can see how to harmonise interests. We may not be fighting for Biafra as SSners, but we can join the Igbos to shake the FG so that while Igbos get Biafra, minorities can either choose to join Biafra, get their own independent nations or remain in the new Nigeria or whatever will be left of it.
It all boils down to dialogue with the SS and SE leaders and I expect SE leaders who are at the frontline of the agitation to extend this invitation to all minority groups, even those in the Middle Belt, so that we can all express our goals and harmonise interests even if our interests are dissimilar. I'm glad we've come to some sort of agreement and I agree with you that every ethnic nationalities in the defunct Eastern region need to have a round table discussion to ascertain what next after successfully seceding from Nigeria, whether to stay together or to go separate ways. I for one don't buy the idea of "forcefully" including other nationalities into the struggle without their consent. It's disrespectful and totally wrong. U made mentioned that our move yesterday wasn't bold enough, what would u have suggested we do next? Note that yesterday sit-at-home move was to pay our respect to those who lost their lives in the war. |

cowardafonja: Really?
I withdrew my comment then.
She should note, however, that most of the divisive elements are from the "waste". They are gifted liars and they have been lying since independence through their gutter media.
So, when next you see a comment that reads: "we the Niger Delta....", observe it closely because often than not, there is a masked demon behind it. Don't even let the name deceive you. Some afonja now answer Emeka, Obvume etc I quite understand you but she's not one of them |

wirinet: This is the koko ofthe matter. The state executives, the state legislatures and the state civil services are too numerous considering the revenue accrued the nation. The states are simply a conduit for siphoning oil revenue from the Nigerdelta, they have no economic value. Up to 80% of total revenue plus borrowed money is used to maintain this structure, with little left for any physical development.
Without this useless structure people like Abubakar Malami will be jobless and probably die of hunger. The OP has shown us that restructuring is almost impossible, what next do u suggest we do? Do we maintain the status quo because some Abubakar Malami will lose his job? |

mathy001: I've not made up my mind. Contrary to what you think, I'm going softer these days because I keep seeing things in new lights. I used to be vehemently against Biafra but now I'm totally in support of it. The only clause for me is that minorities may not gain anything from it. So I'm more in support of an Igboid Biafra first before negotiations can be made for other ethnicities to be drafted, IF they are interested in it. That way, there'd be freedom of choice and an example to look upon.
As we read views and argue, however heated they become, our views also change and at the least, we learn from others. As long as the argument does not resort to tribal slurs. Noted. Thanks I believe u are for restructuring of the country I suppose and I want to believe u've gone through this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3831653/fg-why-restructuring-wont-workThat thread made it clear that restructuring in Nigeria is impossible. Igbos calling other ethnic nationalities to join in the struggle is to have a collective voice which would be loud enough that no one can ignore. We all have our various struggles including the Urhobos and this has been on for years, what has been the outcome so far? A lone voice is not always heard. So in light of what was said in that thread, how else do u think we can push for the restructuring? Note that before the Igbos set out for all out secession they were for restructuring which was the Aburi Accord. |
Politics › Re: FG: Why Restructuring Won’t Work Now by Candyrain(m): 12:20pm On May 31, 2017 |
amc: And this is the koko of the matter. Everything else is a waste of energy and resources. That is exactly the challenge which is why it looks impossible because no northern state would append or sign for restructuring. And besides North even have more states than the South so how can restructuring be achieved. When people keep saying Igbos should take their agitation to their representatives, this is exactly why they don't because they know it won't sail through. Even if the entire South finally agrees to work together it still won't yield any result because already we are numerically disadvantaged. So the question is how then do we achieve this RESTRUCTURING? |

mathy001: Anyone can stand for anything. That doesn't mean the reality will be as promising as the thought of it. Engaging you in a discuss most times is enervating because you already have your mind made up. I'll suggest we let things be. We are obviously the majority, if our elders/leaders are able to convince yours of the genuineness of the struggle with no ulterior motives and they buy into it then good and fine and if not still good and fine. No need for all these back and forth arguments. Let's leave it to our leaders to agree or not to agree. Have a good day |

Henrybright: I understand that, what I'm saying is won't it end up like Buhari campaign promises?? If other non Igbos are going to be part of the new country there's going to be a new constitution which every constituent part of the country will draft together making sure no one is trampling on the other. U mentioned Naija mentality earlier, well that's one of the reasons for the secession. No one should be feeding off the other. Use whatever u have for urselves and ur people. |

EvilUnityBeggars: How did you think IPOB gained ground in Ikwerre land.?
With time, their brothers will join.
Take note that they are doing underground job in convincing their people Rallies can be held in Ikwerreland even with their Igbo denial which is a job well done. I still insist that until rallies can be held in those places ie Urhoboland and others, they don't belong to/with us yet. So I'll say the underground job in convincing them should continue. Kudos to them. |

When you do, then you will know that other tribes are present I'm not saying a few of them can't be found in Biafra rallies that's been done in Igboland. What I'm saying is until we see such rallies in their land then I think we should focus on ourselves and on how to exit this geographical mistake called Nigeria. |

ObikeNkem: Your Lagos-Ibadan express way yoruba media divide and rule propaganda cannot work again. The SE and SS is one. Urhoboland belongs to biafra Nwokem u are wrong. Urhoboland does not belong to Biafra not until we start seeing the agitation and protest we have in Igboland also in their land even if their rulers and elders don't support it. They need to also speak up, only then will we take them serious. We can't and shouldn't be speaking for them. |

EvilUnityBeggars: Afonjas can go to any extent to do so
Not everyone who claims to be Igbo is actually Igbo U guys are just impossible. Yes there are many impostors but she isn't one. At least I've followed her argument in this forum for some time and she isn't one. That she has her idea of what our struggle should be and she made it known doesn't make her an impostor. So many people concur with her idea of a homogenous Igbo nation and I'm one of such. If other group wants to be a part then they need to come out and declare their interest. WE CAN'T FORCE THEM WHEN THEY DON'T WANT TO JOIN. |
