Na wa for the Korra hate. Moving on, giddy about the upcoming season, sad that it will also be the last. The Avatar universe is too good for Nickelodeon. There are times I wish TLoK had a longer season (the usual 22 instead of 13), but that really helped in tightening the series - less filler more story.

I'm surprised the OP didn't copy and paste everything. The other 8 dads were:

Amilcare Anguissola - He noticed his oldest child had a talent and let it shine. The big deal, it was 16th century Italy and the child was his daughter, Sofonisba, who became the first female Renaissance painter.

Joseph Friedman - He made the flexible straw, so it would be easier for his daughter to drink her milkshake.

Frederick Kohner - Created Gidget: The Little girl with the Big Dreams from his daughter's stories about surfing, which helped in making surfing a mainstream sport with teens.

Chiune “Sempo” Sugihara - This man deserves the whole copy & past treatment. It's a shame he never got more recognition when he was alive.

In 1939, Chiune Sugihara became the Japanese Consul General in Lithuania. By 1940, the Germans were conquering Europe and enslaving and massacring Jews. In July of that year, Jewish refugees from Poland began showing up in front of Lithuania’s Japanese consulate begging for visas so that they could get out of Europe before the Nazis caught up with them. Chiune wrote to his superiors for permission to issue the visas, but the answer was “no.”

Chiune knew he risked disgrace and possible imprisonment if he illegally issued visas. There would surely be consequences for his family, so Chiune included them in the decision-making process. Chiune’s oldest son Hiroki would later tell how his father had carefully explained that the people standing outside their gates needed help so that they wouldn’t be killed. “Help them,” the boy urged. With fighting coming closer, the Japanese consulate was closing, but until his departure, Chiune (with his family’s help and support) spent nearly every waking moment issuing over 2,100 visas for Jews and their families.

After the war, Chiune was disgraced, forced to resign, and struggled to find steady work. But although the ex-diplomat never spoke publicly in Japan about the events in Lithuania, he’d saved over 6,000 lives, and grateful Jewish survivors were searching for him. In 1985, Chiune was honored in Israel. Sadly, he died the following year without the world knowing much of his story. Those life-saving visas might have been remembered only by the survivors, but Hiroki—with both admiration for his father’s courage and pride in his own support of his father’s decision—spent much of his life publicizing Chiune’s courage. That publicity has allowed many to get to know and be inspired by the man called the “Japanese Schindler.” A short film based on Chiune’s life, Visas and Virtue, won an Oscar in 1997.
Amasa Coleman Lee - If you've ever read To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, the character Atticus Finch is based on the author's father. He really was a white lawyer, who defended innocent black men in the South. It's a shame those cases were usually a farce - since those men were usually killed anyway.

Eddie Koiki Mabo - He established the first school that thought the indigenous (Aboriginal) history and culture in Australia. Plus, he also fought for the legal land rights for Aborigines - Australian government initially owned* the land, thereby denying Aborigines the right to own the land which their ancestors had lived in. He sued the government. After 10 years, he/they won, but he died 5 months before the verdict.
*they claimed it was unoccupied during colonisation, so they now owned it all.

J.R.R. Tolkien - The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings basically evolved from the bedtime stories he used to tell his kids based on a character he had created - Bilbo Baggins.
A new character was introduced after Tolkien was grading his students’ test papers and realized he’d written something on a blank page in a student’s exam book: “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.” The professor had no idea what hobbits looked like or how they lived; those details evolved in his bedtime stories about Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who loved to eat good meals, smoke his pipe, and whose comfortable hobbit hole had everything he needed—except adventure.
William Jackson Smart - He was twice married, twice widowed and had a football team of children. He took care of all his children. His daughter, Sonora created (and successfully campaigned* for) Father's Day in his honour.
*Apparently, it wasn't a big deal at first, men didn't care for it - too sentimental.

Not looking good, disappointment seems to be the reigning word for it...

Destiny review: Final verdict on most expensive video game ever made is a disappointing lack of ambition

Destiny is a disappointment. There are plenty of ways to sugar coat that fact, the most obvious by pointing out that it is still a good game in its own right, but despite its many positives Destiny is not some great step forward in video game design or technology. What it does it does well, but it’s discouraging just how obvious its lack of ambition and variety becomes.

The first impressions of Destiny are very good, as anyone that played the alpha and beta will tell you. And certainly after our first day with the game we were very impressed, despite the litany of obvious problems that we listed in our initial report. But as time has gone on, and our progress into the game has deepened, those problems have inevitably become more damaging, and the initial thrill a more distant memory.
...
In Short: It’s not short of spectacle but in terms of innovation and variety this is nowhere near as forward-thinking as Bungie would like to pretend.

Pros: The gunplay and loot design is expertly crafted to keep you playing. Fantastic art design and music, with some stunning visuals. Mountains of content and great co-op.

Cons: Repetitive enemies, non-existent set pieces, and terrible bosses. No new ideas and overly simplistic role-playing and customisation elements. Almost zero plot.

Score: 7/10

Actually, I don't blame you. I played and finished Assassin's Creed to Brotherhood (story of course), then I just lost steam with Revelations and III. I just stopped playing them - I got bored.
I was going to ignore IV:BF, but I don't know which kind jazz catch me, cause I found myself ordering the Buccaneer Edition from GAME and actually enjoyed it. The only reason I haven't finished it - I spent a week playing it non-stop, so I went on a break. Sadly, my break hasn't ended yet.

So, Destiny is officially out. So any fans? Here's how I summed it up. It feels odd that I'm about to quote myself, but here goes...

To the owners: Enjoy your adventure.

To significant others, friends and families, who don’t understand: Enjoy the alienation and/or newly found freedom.

To their bosses: Prepare for sick days.

To significant others, friends and families, who understand: Enjoy.

To the future owners: Patiently wait for the prices to come down.

To those with terrible internet connection: We are sorry for your loss.

To everyone else: Continue living your lives.

I came across this a few minutes ago on my facebook news feed.

In a revealing letter written to spiritual and relationship expert Iyanla Vanzant, Williams said he has fathered 34 biological children with 17 different women. His oldest daughter is 26 and his youngest is 3; Williams says his relationships with his children range from excellent to non-existent. To help him fulfill his role as a father and begin to put the pieces of his personal life back together, Iyanla travels to Atlanta for a no-holds-barred conversation on "Iyanla: Fix My Life."

Beauty fades, stupidity is forever.

I don't have the energy to read every post. To be honest, it took a while to read butanep's original post. Dude seriously, you could have spent 5 more minutes proof-reading. Oh boy e no hard, you had time... You could have spent more time explaining yourself better. It really isn't a race on how quick you can churn out mediocrity. Oh well...

Anywho, you answered your own question, you didn't want commitment. If you're an example of the average male in the dating pool, then the pool needs intensive cleaning. Time wasting, immaturity, greed & vanity do not make a good strong relationship, regardless of how beautiful your quarry is.

What exactly is your definition of beautiful? Is it the face (funny how we judge people by their face, which is only a small part of the whole body)? T&A? Flawless skin? The sum of all parts? How their body reflects with the Sun & the Earth's rotation? Whether they can do the azonto? etc...

The second time - "Die you frakking toasters!" And other less user friendly words. Seriously, it felt like a personal insult. I was contemplating witchcraft to bring Helena to life, just to send her to the Emmy voters... angry

TV/Movies › Re: Sci-fi Series by cao(f): 10:36am On Sep 05, 2014
@RayMcBlue, that's a good off the top of your head list.
Note to OP, there are two versions of Being Human - the original UK version & the US remake. I've only watched the UK version, which was a brilliant series that originally started as a one-off pilot.

Don't use good graphics as milestone, 'cause you'd be surprised how many good sci-fi shows have questionable graphics. I know Defiance is a hit & miss show for some folks, but I love it. Plus, the Votan ships look like Bluetooth headsets and there's some really questionable CGI. Geez, most syfy channel shows suffer from really terrible CGI.

Orphan Black should be on your top must watch list, Tatiana Maslany should win every acting award. Dumb Emmys!

I'll toss out one proper odd sci-fi show I love, that got cancelled & is highly ignored/unknown - The Middleman (it's not hard to find it on YouTube). You could also try Doctor Who...

killzone: u knw u are undermining us rite
Love marvel agents of shield but they shud get more avengers and superhero characters to show up not just lady sif and Nick Fury.onli for september, october, november we have tv series like flash,Arrow S3,constantine,gotham,agent of shield S2
The MCU is expanding, in addition to the 2 ABC shows, there are also the Netflix shows - Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and finally The Defenders. All these shows will air sequentially with starting with Daredevil in May 2015 and ending with The Defenders were they appear as a team.

Remember, most of the Avengers are proper Hollywood A-list film actors, so the chance of these guys appearing on TV will be slim. Jamie Alexander (Lady Sif) got her big break on ABC Family's Kyle XY as Jessi, Samuel L Jackson just seems to follow the money, Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) is best known as Robin from CBS's How I Met Your Mother, Emily VanCamp as we all know is the star of ABC's Revenge.

Seriously, how the heck do you think Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) will appear in this, the dude seems to be everywhere. Robert Downey Jr?? He hardly ever does TV, seriously google it, he's only been a proper cast member in two TV shows (SNL for one season in 1985 and Ally McBeal also for one season in 2000). Chris Helmsworth?? The minute that guy left Australia and Home and Away, and then did Dancing with the Stars, he abandoned TV, I doubt he will ever go back to TV. Chris Evans?? A string of questionable films and literally a hand full of TV appearances, mostly pilots. Omo, I don talk too much-o

Who knows maybe Disney can pull some strings and attempt the impossible, since they own both Marvel and ABC...

MongoAkoni: Marvel one-shots are only related to Agent Carter? Is there any one-shot related to Loki ? and//or Asgardian universe?
No. There are currently 5 in total.
1. The Consultant: Set after Iron Man 2 & Incredible Hulk, it's simply a conversation between Agents Coulson & Sitwell. TPTB want the Abomination for the Avengers Initiative, of course Fury doesn't want that crazy SOB, so Coulson & Sitwell sabotage it by sending Tony Stark to talk to General Ross. About 4 mins long. This was released with the Thor Blu-Ray.

2. A Funny Thing Happens on the Way to Thor's Hammer: Well that's self-explanatory. A robbery happens in the gas station, while Coulson's buying snacks. Slow-mo action happens, then he leaves. About 4 mins long. This was released with Captain America:TFA BR.

3. Item 47: Set immediately after the Avengers. A couple activate a Chitauri weapon, then they go bank robbing, as you do. SHIELD is having none of that. About 12 minutes long. This was released with the Avengers BR.

4. Agent Carter: Well, I've already explained that one. This was released with the Iron Man 3 BR.

5. All Hail the King: Set after Iron Man 3, follows the Fake Mandarin, whose being interviewed in prison. This was the first one I watched, before I worked backwards. Let's just say Trevor Slattery still doesn't understand the mess he's in, since by the end of the short we find out his interviewer, Jackson Norriss, is working for the real Ten Rings. He breaks Trevor out of prison to meet the Mandarin. Trevor is still clueless. About 14 mins long. Released with the Thor: The Dark World BR.

Also, watch out for the mid-credit and post credit scenes. Unfortunately, they didn't release any short with the Captain America:TWS BR. Here's hoping they do something for GotG BR.

MongoAkoni: You guessed it right....
worth watching?

I mean is it linked to the story somehow ?
It happens immediately after Captain America: The First Avenger, she's been reassigned to another department, where her talents are ignored by her sexist boss. Long story short, she singlehandly kicks butt and solves a mission all by herself. Then gets called up to head the newly created SHIELD. The butt kicking is epic - yes it's Melinda May level. So if it's anything like the 15min short, then I expect good things.
